Da Il conte Max a Vacanze di Natale: il binomio Cortina-sci nell'immaginario audiovisivo
Housing, living conditions, and settlement patterns of selected communities of foreign origin in Naples. Insights from a micro-macro approach
We aim to update the knowledge framework on the different settlement geographies and on the housing and living conditions of selected foreign communities living in Naples, the capital of Campania region. To this aim we propose a micro-macro approach that combines micro data, coming from the SCIC (Sistema cittadino per l’integrazione di comunità) sample survey carried out in Naples in 2022 on adult immigrants belonging to selected communities of foreign origin according to their country of citizenship at birth (Sri Lanka, Ukraine, Pakistan and Bangladesh, Nigeria and Senegal), and macro data, coming from the permanent census of 2021. In a general framework with significant heterogeneity, results highlight that settlement patterns are generally linked to housing and living conditions with few exceptions. The Pakistanis and the Bangladeshis are more concentrated and segregated in historical centre and have worst housing and living conditions in terms of crowding and availability of accommodation, but not in terms of accommodation’s irregularity. Conversely, the Ukrainians have a widespread settlement model with the highest frequency of house for rent without a regular contract, but also the lowest crowding index

Desde la perspectiva de la historia de las relaciones internacionales, el artículo intenta ofre-
cer un aporte a la conceptualización de lo extraño en América Latina. Para este fin, el escrito
se centra sobre el largo pleito internacional, conocido como “cuestión Cerruti”, que enfrentó
a Colombia con el Reino de Italia entre 1885 y 1911. El asunto principió cuando el Estado
federal colombiano del Cauca, en ese entonces gobernado por los conservadores, acusó al ita-
liano Ernesto Cerruti de haber apoyado a grupos liberales insurgentes. Frente al secuestro de
sus propiedades, Cerruti —un ex garibaldino originario de Piamonte— pidió la protección de

Influence Maximization in Unknown Social Networks: A Contextual Bandit Approach (Extended Abstract)
The Influence Maximization (IM) problem is a fundamental problem on social networks where you are required to choose a set of few seeds from which to start an information campaign aiming to reach as many nodes as possible in the network. In this work, we consider the IM problem in a setting where neither network nodes nor their relationships are known, except for very few samples. Thus, you have to orchestrate the campaign while learning information about the network. This problem has been recently showed to have applications in public health: e.g., to maximize the diffusion of HIV prevention information among marginalized people, such as homeless. In this work we propose a two-level bandit approach to address the IM problem with partially observed networks: the lower layer implements a contextual bandit that selects nodes to query based on the current observed subgraph, available nodes, and edge discovery rewards; the upper meta-layer dynamically chooses between two exploration strategies: a global approach maximizing immediate edge discovery, and a component-focused strategy targeting the least-explored connected component. This dual approach prevents local over-exploitation while maintaining efficient global exploration. The proposed method outperforms the state-of-the-art method and shows robustness across diverse network topologies
Scaling NeuroSymbolic AI Integration for Seismic Event Detection
This paper presents sKGlable-VEO (scalable Knowledge Graph for Volcano Event detection), a framework designed for scalable seismic event detection through the integration of NeuroSymbolic AI and Knowledge Graphs. The system is structured around three modular pipelines: 1) a Knowledge Graph construction pipeline that transforms seismic data from Seismic Analysis Code (SAC) files into an ontology-based Knowledge Graph, 2) a Deep Learning training pipeline that trains neural network models on normalized seismic signals, and 3) an event detection pipeline that classifies seismic events using the trained models. Utilizing Docker containers, the sKGlable-VEO framework enables large-scale processing of seismic data while seamlessly integrating advanced AI models. This work advances seismic event detection by merging symbolic reasoning with machine learning in a scalable, efficient pipeline
Sustainability in the Age of Digital Transition
This chapter analyzes digitization as an ambivalent systemic process that profoundly redefines working conditions, organizational well-being, and sustainability trajectories. Through an interdisciplinary approach that integrates studies on technostress, organizational sustainability, digital governance, and complexity, the text examines how the adoption of digital technologies and artificial intelligence-based systems can simultaneously generate opportunities for efficiency, innovation, and inclusion, but also new forms of psychological pressure, inequality, and organizational vulnerability. The chapter explores the concept of technostress as a structural phenomenon emerging from the interaction between technological, organizational, and cultural factors, going beyond a purely individual interpretation of digital discomfort. Particular attention is paid to the role of leadership, governance practices, and organizational architectures in mediating the impact of digitization on worker well-being. In conclusion, the chapter argues that sustainability-oriented digitization requires explicit integration between technological innovation, human well-being, and ethical responsibility, placing sustainable work at the center of organizational strategies in complex contexts
CFD Modeling and Experimental Validation of Spray Drying for Inhalable Particles
Spray drying is a key technology for producing inhalable particles used in the treatment of respiratory diseases such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and cystic fibrosis. This study presents a comprehensive computational fluid dynamics analysis of the spray drying process, integrating detailed modeling of gas flow, droplet evaporation, and heat and mass transfer phenomena. The model is validated against experimental measurements of temperature fields and particle size distributions obtained from a Büchi B-290 Mini Spray Dryer equipped with a three-fluid nozzle. Results show good agreement between simulations and experiments, confirming the reliability of the modeling approach. A novel criterion based on the local balance between incident liquid flux and evaporation flux is introduced to interpret thermocouple readings, offering a physically consistent framework for comparing numerical and experimental temperature data. The study highlights the importance of resolving internal nozzle dynamics and multiphase interactions to improve the predictive accuracy of numerical models in pharmaceutical spray drying applications. © 2025 The Author(s

EXPLORATION OF SYNTHETIC METHODOLOGIES FOR SUSTAINABLE AND EFFICIENT ORGANIC TRANSFORMATIONS
DURING THE LAST DECADES, NEW SYNTHETIC METHODOLOGIES AND TOOLS WERE DEVELOPED TO INCREASE THE EFFICIENCY OF ORGANIC REACTIONS IN TERMS OF SELECTIVITY, PRODUCTIVITY AND SUSTAINABILITY. ESPECIALLY ABOUT SUSTAINABILITY, NOWADAYS IT IS CRUCIAL TO PAY ATTENTION TO GREEN CHEMISTRY AND ITS PRINCIPLES IN THE SET-UP OF A REACTION. AMONG ORGANIC TRANSFORMATIONS, THE OXIDATION AND REDUCTION OF ORGANIC MOLECULES REPRESENT VERY STRAIGHTFORWARD PROCEDURES IN ORGANIC SYNTHESIS TO PREPARE DIFFERENTLY FUNCTIONALIZED COMPOUNDS. UNFORTUNATELY, MOST OXIDATIVE AND REDUCTIVE PROTOCOLS SUFFER FROM LOW SELECTIVITY AND BAD SUSTAINABILITY INVOLVING THE GENERATION OF HUGE AMOUNTS OF WASTE. IN THIS CONTEXT, SEVERAL MODERN TOOLS TO CARRY ON ORGANIC TRANSFORMATIONS ARE BECOMING WIDESPREAD, AMONG THEM, FLOW CHEMISTRY HAS EMERGED AS A VERY POWERFUL TECHNIQUE FOR MAKING ORGANIC REACTIONS THANKS TO ITS PECULIAR FEATURES: IMPROVED HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER, BETTER SCALABILITY, INCREASED REACTION EFFICIENCY AND IMPROVED REPRODUCIBILITY LEADING TO HIGH-THROUGHPUT PROCESSES. IN THIS PHD PROJECT, NEW SUSTAINABLE AND EFFICIENT SYNTHETIC METHODOLOGIES FOR THE PREPARATION OF DIFFERENT HIGH-ADDED VALUE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS WERE DEVELOPED. SPECIFICALLY, A SUSTAINABLE AND STREAMLINED PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE PHARMACEUTICAL INTERMEDIATE 8-CARBOXY-3-METHYLFLAVONE THROUGH AN ALKENE OXIDATIVE CLEAVAGE WERE PROPOSED IN COLLABORATION WITH RECORDATI S.P.A. PAYING PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO SUSTAINABILITY ASPECTS EVEN BY LEVERAGING TOOLS LIKE FLOW CHEMISTRY. THEN, A SECOND GOAL WAS CENTERED ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW MACROCYCLIC SYSTEMS APPLIED IN THE FIELD OF REDUCTION REACTIONS. IN PARTICULAR, THE APPLICATION OF A NOVEL TRIAZOLE-BORANE COMPLEX BASED ON AZAMACROCYCLIC SCAFFOLDS IN THE REDUCTION OF CARBONYL COMPOUNDS WILL BE DISCUSSED. FINALLY, NEW CONTINUOUS-FLOW PLATFORMS FOR THE HANDLING OF N-BUTYLLITHIUM SOLUTION IN LITHIUM-HALOGEN EXCHANGE REACTIONS WERE DEVELOPED UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF PROF. JEAN-CHRISTOPHE M.
