Factorizable convergence of random variables in Grand Lebesgue Spaces
We obtain results concerning the so-called factorization for the convergence almost everywhere of random variables belonging to the classical Lebesgue-Riesz spaces and we extend these results to the Grand Lebesgue Spaces. We also give exact estimates for the parameters involved and we provide several examples. Moreover, we show that in the general case the obtained estimates are, up to a multiplicative constant, essentially non-improvable

Parliament, defense policy, and the Italian transition, 1987-2001
Since the 1990s, Italian military policy has experienced considerable dynamism leading to a redefinition of the interests of those involved in defense policy making, changing their perception of military issues and triggering change or accelerating those underway. Moreover, behind these pressures and in parallel with the prominence acquired on the government agenda, military security issues have emerged from the restricted and closed circle of experts to engage the general public and, through their views, influence policy. Nevertheless, only a few studies have analyzed these transformations through empirical research from a political science standpoint rather than from a historical, sociological, or legal one. Additionally, many studies focus on major decisions or just on the most striking ones, neglecting what is the “normal” defense policy making. Our goal is to fill this knowledge gap and conduct an initial survey of the changes that have taken place in this domain of public intervention at the dawn of the Italian transition

Food and Nutrition Insecurity in Kidney Disease Practitioner Considerations
The definition of food insecurity is lack of access to sufficient safe food for normal growth and for an active and healthy life. Food insecurity may be geographically classified: in low-income countries, it may be characterized by undernutrition and frank starvation, while in higher-income ones, food insecurity is associated with high consumption of energy-dense foods of poor nutritional quality. This Review highlights the relationship between food insecurity and chronic kidney disease (CKD) and its negative impact on kidney development, CKD progression, and health outcomes. In developed countries, compensatory eating behaviours as a coping strategy, subsequent health changes, and stress all work in a cyclic way, increasing disease onset and CKD progression. Food insecurity causes chronic stress, leading to visceral fat accumulation, insulin resistance, and diet-induced obesity, although the presence of multiple chronic conditions predicts food insecurity. Although data are scarce, in subjects at kidney disease risk, food insecurity is an additional factor for hospitalization, presence and development of kidney stones, progression to end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), and mortality. Moreover, food insecurity is a risk factor for the development of CKD in people with hypertension and diabetes. One of the most frequent methods for detecting food insecurity are questionnaires, although screening for and addressing food insecurity in primary care should be prioritzed. Food insecurity being a social determinant of health directly linked to inadequate financial resources represents a risk factor for development, progression, and negative outcomes in CKD. Also, political-economic items such as social policies, insufficient income, food advertising, inequitable education and low education attainment, food production, and marketing of unhealthy food should be considered. Interventions for addressing food insecurity need to be carefully planned due to the higher mortality of food-insecure individuals. Healthcare professionals should be educated to understand food insecurity, but resources for detecting and solving this global problem are needed
Cellular senescence as a prognostic marker for predicting breast cancer progression in 2D and 3D organoid models
Breast cancer is the most prevalent malignancy in women, with its heterogeneity complicating prognosis and treatment development. This study explores the role of cellular senescence in breast cancer progression using three breast cancer cell lines—two triple-negative (HS578T, MDA-MB-231) and one luminal A (T47D)—alongside a non-tumorigenic breast epithelial cell line (MCF10a) as control. Findings were validated in patient-derived 3D organoid models (PDOs). We examined proliferation, cell cycle dynamics, and senescence markers, focusing on key regulators such as p16 and p21. Cancer cells showed increased proliferation and dysregulated senescence, particularly through p21 suppression in the G2 phase. To assess therapeutic potential, we treated cells and PDOs with Alisertib, an Aurora kinase inhibitor known to induce senescence. Alisertib treatment elevated β-galactosidase activity and senescence marker expression, confirming senescence induction. Interestingly, despite exhibiting senescent features, cancer cells partially retained proliferative capacity. We identified Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-1 (PAI-1), a key component of the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), as a mediator in this process. PAI-1 was significantly upregulated after Alisertib exposure, particularly in cancerous samples, and correlated with reduced proliferation and a pronounced senescent phenotype. Functional experiments using a PAI-1 inhibitor (Tiplaxtinin) showed that PAI-1 actively contributes to maintaining the senescent growth arrest, as its inhibition partially restored proliferation. No senescence induction was observed in non-cancerous controls. Overall, our results reveal a complex interplay between senescence and breast cancer progression. PAI-1 emerges as a functional effector of therapy-induced senescence and a promising candidate for further investigation as a diagnostic biomarker and potential target in senescence-based breast cancer therapies
