Energy Homeostasis and Kisspeptin System, Roles of Exercise and Outcomes with a Focus on Male Reproductive Health
Background: Obesity is a multisystemic health problem causing chronic diseases like diabetes
or cardiovascular diseases, but also reproductive dysfunctions like infertility in adults
or altered puberty onset in children. Exercise is a recognized intervention to control or prevent
energy imbalance, thus deeply contributing to metabolic health in physiological and
pathological conditions. The kisspeptin system (KS), the main gatekeeper of reproduction
and puberty onset in mammals, is also an upcoming “metabolic sensor”, linking energy
homeostasis to reproductive ability both centrally and peripherally. Objectives: This narrative
review aims at summarizing recent evidence from animal models and human studies
on the role of the KS in energy homeostasis, with a focus on the upcoming role of the KS as
a metabolic sensor able to modulate the functionality of the hypothalamus–pituitary–gonad
axis in males as an adaptive response to exercise. Methods: PubMed and Scopus search
(date: 2015–2025; keywords: kisspeptin and metabolism, male reproduction or exercise;
kisspeptin and doping). Results and Conclusions: This review article illustrates the crucial
role of the KS in linking energy homeostasis and male reproduction at the central and
peripheral levels, and modulation of the KS by exercise in physiological and pathological
conditions. Due to the large amount of data from animal models, knowledge gaps occur
in the analysis of the relationship among KS, energy homeostasis, male reproduction and
exercise in humans, particularly in the case of overtraining. Lastly, kisspeptin inclusion in
the doping list is also discussed

Do local subsidiaries have unique characteristics in strategies, knowledge, and digital transformation efforts to achieve circular economy goals?
This study examines how circular business models (CBMs) and industry 4.0 technologies (I4.0Ts) can connect in the specific context of local subsidiaries. The study adopted a case study methodology, involving twelve semistructured interviews with key board members of Schneider Electric. Multiple methods of data collection were
used to derive robust findings, including interviews, reviews of company sustainability reports, and participation in a workshop organised by the company to learn about its operations. Interview data were analysed using thematic analysis. The results suggest that I4.0Ts may positively influence resource use reduction and circular
economy (CE) goals. However, given the study’s qualitative nature and single-company scope, these findings should be interpreted as indicative rather than broadly generalisable. The adoption of I4.0Ts appears driven mainly by legitimacy, stakeholder consensus needs, and regulatory compliance pressures. The study is based on a
single case and primarily qualitative evidence; broader validation through comparative or quantitative research would strengthen the robustness of the insights. This research offers tentative insights for other companies considering CE-oriented digital transitions, highlighting potential benefits and challenges. Policymakers are
encouraged to support firms in addressing knowledge transfer and workforce resistance barriers. This study adds to the debate on how local subsidiaries can contribute to the CE through I4.0Ts, while also stressing the need for a cautious interpretation of claims about universal advantages
Il Service Learning nella cornice dell’Embodied Cognition
Negli ultimi anni, il Service Learning si è affermato come un approccio pedagogico e didattico che integra l‟apprendimento con il servizio alla comunità, promuovendo
l‟acquisizione di conoscenze e competenze attraverso l‟esperienza concreta e l‟interazione sociale. Parallelamente, la Embodied Cognitive Science (ECS) ha ridefinito l‟epistemologia dell‟apprendimento, mettendo in luce il ruolo centrale del corpo, dell‟azione e dell‟interazione con l‟ambiente nei processi cognitivi. L‟obiettivo di questo contributo è analizzare il Service Learning alla luce dell‟Embodied Cognitive Science e dell‟Embodied Education, dimostrando come questi paradigmi scientifici sono in grado di intrecciare la rilevanza educativa del Service Learning. Attraverso un‟analisi approfondita della letteratura, vengono esaminati i concetti di cognizione incarnata, cognizione situata, intersoggettività, scambio relazionale, riflessione critica e comunità di pratica, evidenziando il loro ruolo nella costruzione di un apprendimento autentico e trasformativo

From Attraction to Retention: Digitally Enabled Employer Branding in the Italian Retail Sector
This study aims to explore how employer branding (EB), enhanced through digital technologies, can improve recruitment effectiveness, reduce turnover, and enhance employee experience (EX) in the retail sector, with a focus on the Italian company Giunti al Punto S.P.A. Adopting a two-phase mixed qualitative approach, the research includes a scoping review of literature on EB, EX, and Human Resource Management (HRM), a netnographic analysis of employee-generated content on Glassdoor,
and interviews with candidates and employees. Anchored in Backhaus and Tikoo’s (2004) EB framework and recent advances in digital employer branding, the study seeks to identify HRM practices and future-oriented strategies for talent attraction and retention. The findings will reveal the role of EB not only in attracting talent but also in EX, providing evidence-based recommendations for HR practitioners in retail and contributing to the understanding of the intersection of EB, EX, and HRM in
the Italian context
Outstanding sensitivity to ionizing radiation of custom optical fibers evaluated in real-time by Long Period Gratings
In this work, we report on the gamma radiation sensitivity of different
optical fibers, including a custom-designed scintillating fiber and
commercially available models with different core compositions
(Ge-doped, P-doped, and pure-silica). The sensitivity was comparatively
investigated by monitoring the shift in the resonant wavelength of long
period gratings (LPGs) inscribed in these fibers, which were exposed to
a 1.8 kGy/h gamma dose rate until reaching a maximum absorbed dose of 36
kGy. The LPG period was selected to have the coupling with a high order
cladding mode near 1550 nm. Additionally, post irradiation permanent
effects were observed after the following two days. Real-time
measurements highlighted a significant dependence of the response on the
fiber composition, with the scintillating optical fiber demonstrating
one order of magnitude higher sensitivity than other fibers. By
tailoring the fiber composition and grating parameters, this study aims
to develop fiber-based sensors capable of precise and reliable
measurements in diverse radiation-rich settings, including nuclear
reactors, space exploration, and particle accelerators
