    A Systematic Literature Review on GenAI Through the Lens of Corporate Sustainability

    Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is a subset of AI capable of autonomously producing new content in the form of text, audio, video and code based on previously learned data patterns. As modern organizations face increasing pressure to align with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives, GenAI, due to its enormous potential is reshaping organizational processes, presents an unprecedented opportunity for fostering sustainable practices related knowledge. In this context, this study aims to critically review the existing literature on the topic with the aim of analysing its potential to support social responsibility. Specifically, this Systematic Literature Review (SLR) examines the intersection of GenAI, Knowledge management (KM), and sustainability, emphasizing the role of Green Knowledge Management (GKM), a framework that integrates environmentally conscious knowledge practices into corporate strategy. Through an extensive review of peer-reviewed articles, four key thematic areas emerge: (1) sector-specific application of GenAI for sustainability, (2) Ethical and regulatory concerns on GenAI implementation, (3) GenAI in promoting organizational knowledge and innovation and (4) The role GenAI in corporate social responsibility (CSR). The result of the review indicate that GenAI is increasingly emerging as a catalyst for sustainability. Its role in promoting green innovation and its capacity to facilitate the exchange of knowledge regarding sustainable practices provide crucial support for firms pursuing ESG compliance. Despite these benefits, considerable concerns remain, especially regarding the ethical use of GenAI. This study contributes to the ongoing discussion on the role of GenAI as key enablers of sustainability. By providing a systematization of the research domain, it not only provides a comprehensive understanding of its current applications but also indicates present gaps and opportunities. In addition, it outlines future directions and serves as foundation for further empirical research on the use of GenAI to promote responsible corporate practices

    Management and quality: third-generation research into policy advisory systems

    In this article, we argue that in order to better understand how Policy Advisory Systems (PAS) have evolved during the 21st century, we need to reframe consideration of their nature. This requires recognizing that what could previously be relatively precisely described as a highly institutionalized system of advice provision is now often a hybrid, where the weight of institutionalized sources of advice is declining, and more agile and fluid interconnections between the state and non-governmental organizations exist within a more varied and expanded ecosystem of brokers and producers. These developments have sparked a third wave of advisory system studies, which focus greater attention on the quality of advice provided by PAS and their managerial aspects in this new, and other more traditional, contexts. The findings and research agendas of this third wave are the subject of the essays contained in this special issue

    UV resistance of the halophilic Archeon Natrinema hispanica

    The search for past or existing life and for its traces on Mars is one main topic in Astrobiology. The presence of liquid water is essential for the emergence of life, as we know it, therefore if life existed on Mars, it should have developed in the earlier periods of its life. Data from various mission suggested the presence of liquid water on Mars, that was lost maybe by evaporation when the planet lost its atmosphere. In this scenario, water’s evaporation could have caused the concentration of the dissolved minerals and therefore the formation of brine pockets and evaporites. Such an environment would have selected organisms able to survive in a saline or hypersaline environment. Therefore, if life existed on Mars, a likely Martian biota would have been made of halophilic organisms. Life in saline and hypersaline environments on Earth is extremely diverse, including either microbial species or few macroorganisms, that are adapted to salt saturation concentrations, i.e. halophiles. In this poster we reported preliminary experiments assessing the resistance to Mars brine simulation, of the halophilic Arcahea Natrinema hispanica, an extremely halophilic archaeon from Fuente de Piedra, southern Spain, selected from the bacterial collection of the Institute of Biomolecular Chemistry (CE-ICB), [PNRR European Commission – NextGenerationEU, Project “SUS-MIRRI" n. IR0000005]. Natrinema hispanica, that has been the object of previous studies in which its resistance to several stressors mimicking the space environment was investigated. Mars simulation was carried out by irradiating with increasing UVB and UVC doses (up to 70000 J/m2), samples of Natrinema hispanica desiccated from its hypersaline medium containing KCl 2 g/L, sodium Citrate 3 g/L, MgSO4 20 g/L and NaCl 200g/L. Samples obtained at different conditions of irradiation were then characterized through NMR-based metabolic profiling

    From waste to resource: Life cycle assessment of eco-friendly concrete in developing nations through energy transition

    Developing countries are particularly vulnerable to climate change, due to limited resources and the lack of well-defined practices for adapting to environmental damage. This study focuses on adopting circular economy (CE) principles and sustainable practices in the construction industry to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, with particular attention to producing eco-friendly concrete. Specifically, it analyzes concrete mixes created with industrial byproducts and recycled aggregates, proposing more sustainable and cost-effective alternatives to ordinary concrete. Using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Life Cycle Cost Assessment (LCCA) techniques, six concrete mixes containing byproducts like ground granulated blast furnace slag, sawdust, and fly ash are compared for their environmental and economic impacts. Results indicate that using recycled materials and byproducts reduces global warming potential and overall costs. The analysis also shows that using recycled aggregates and construction demolition waste promotes a circular economy in the construction industry, reducing waste and improving resource efficiency, particularly in developing countries. This study provides a framework for energy transition and social sustainability, contributing to environmental justice while addressing the specific economic challenges of these contexts

    Caregiver e rete integrata dei servizi: l’esperienza del progetto Janus nel territorio dell’ATS 10

    Nella legge di bilancio del 2018 per la prima volta in Italia è stata ricono- sciuta la figura del caregiver familiare definita come “persona che assiste e si prende cura di specifici soggetti”. Il primo riconoscimento di tale figura è possibile rintracciarlo nel 2014 nella Legge regionale dell’Emilia Romagna che la declina come “componente informale della rete di assistenza alla per- sona e risorsa del sistema integrato dei servizi sociali, sociosanitari e sanitari” (L.R. 28 marzo, 2014 n.2) . Obiettivo del presente contributo è quello di presentare il progetto Janus implementato nell’Ambito Territoriale Sociale 10 nella regione Marche di- segnato allo scopo di sostenere i caregiver familiari attraverso l’attivazione di servizi prenotabili tramite app (sportelli di ascolto, sostegno domiciliare, trasporto, ecc.) e l’organizzazione di iniziative di sensibilizzazione per la co- munità, formazione operatori socio-sanitari dando così impulso ad un si- stema locale di welfare più rispondente alle esigenze dei cittadini più vulnerabili e costruttore di una comunità resiliente. Per rispondere a tale obiettivo oltre a delineare gli aspetti normativi, socio-psico-pedagogici che investono la rete integrata dei servizi coinvolta nel progetto, verranno pre- sentati i risultati di un’indagine quali-quantitativa che ha avuto lo scopo di valutare i primi due anni di attività e contestualmente intercettare nuovi bisogni emergenti
