Rendre la recherche clinique plus attractive

No full text

No full text
Human papillomavirus (HPV) infections represent a major public health concern due to their role in the development of anogenital and oropharyngeal cancers. Vaccination against oncogenic HPVs has demonstrated high efficacy in preventing associated (pre)cancerous lesions. In Switzerland, HPV vaccination is recommended and reimbursed for individuals aged 11 to 26 years. The development of targeted information campaigns is essential to improve vaccination coverage among boys and vulnerable populations. New approaches, such as single-dose vaccination, targeted vaccination beyond the age of 26, and prophylactic vaccination, appear to be promising strategies for optimizing prevention.

Hypertensive patients are frequently affected by erectile dysfunction (20-25%). This is often a manifestation of atherosclerosis, a systemic disease that itself requires management. Dietary measures and physical activity are beneficial for these patients. Regarding pharmacological options, these include modifying the antihypertensive treatment or using a phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor (PDE5 inhibitor) in males. The preferred antihypertensive treatments are angiotensin 2 receptor antagonists, ACE inhibitors, calcium channel blockers, and if necessary, a vasodilating beta-blocker (nébivolol). Thiazide and thiazide-like diuretics (with the exception of indapamide), traditional beta-blockers, and central antihypertensive agents should be avoided.

An Architecture for Interactive Storytelling in the Domain of Care Training

No full text
Digital tools offer novel opportunities to support healthcare skill acquisition, particularly through serious games designed to train caregivers. In this article, we present a hybrid narrative engine architecture that combines symbolic rules, tree structures, and the generative capabilities of large language models (LLMs). This approach addresses the need to create interactive scenarios that focus on the specific challenges of care management. At the core of the system, rules and story trees ensure narrative coherence, while LLMs generate contextualized text, enhancing interaction with more credible non-player characters (NPCs). The engine is designed to provide a customisable user experience, with real-time feedback and scenario unfolding that adapts to the player’s choices and progress. Future developments include extending the approach to other mental health disorders, improving authoring tools, and estab- lishing a clinical evaluation framework to accurately assess the therapeutic im- pact.</p

Development of computational approaches to describe MEX-6 gradient in the C. elegans embryo

No full text
Creating spatial information at the correct time and location is a necessity for the developing organism. The cytoplasmic gradient of the RNA-binding protein MEX-5 in the C. elegans zygote is a prototypical example of spatiotemporal control of cell fate through concentration gradients. MEX-5 gradient depends on PAR-1 location, and forms through differential-diffusion, a mechanism that relies on a difference in the velocities of a fast and slow form of the protein. Preliminary data indicate that MEX-6, the paralogue of MEX-5, could also form a gradient through a differential-diffusion mechanism, despite MEX-6 diffusion coefficients being two times slower than MEX-5. I aimed to describe the temporal dynamics of MEX-6 gradient establishment using live imaging of fluorescence-tagged strains and computational simulations. I show that a differential-diffusion mechanism contribute to MEX-6 gradient establishment. Additionally, my work reveals that PAR polarity can be affected by impairment of the PLK-1 interaction with MEX-5 and MEX-6.</p

No full text
Community acquired pneumonia is a well-known entity in internal medicine. It represents 1.2 cases per 1000 inhabitants every year, and up to 14 cases per 100 inhabitants in people older than 65 years old. Despite our exposition to the disease almost daily, it is still the leading cause of death related to an infection. In 2019, The American Thoracic Society proposed a revision of its guidelines, especially concerning the diagnosis and the treatment of community acquired pneumonia. It is the latest academic society revision. Further-more, the SARS-CoV-2 pandemia has extended our knowledge of pulmonary infection and brought an adaptation of our practice
