Droit civil.

Media market structure and confirmatory news
This paper extends the reputational cheap-talk model to study the effect of media market structure on the quality of news, depending on news coverage characterized by: (i) the precision of common priors and (ii) the likelihood of follow-up quality assessment. We find that competition (weakly) increases the quality of news, except when the news covers controversial issues, the quality of which is likely to remain uncertain, such as politics. Competition adversely affects the quality of such news by increasing the elasticity of demand, thereby creating incentives to confirm common priors

Tail expectile-VaR estimation in the semiparametric Generalized Pareto model
Expectiles have received increasing attention as coherent and elicitable market risk measure. Their estimation from heavy-tailed data in an extreme value framework has been studied using solely the Weissman extrapolation method. We challenge this dominance by developing the theory of two classes of semiparametric Generalized Pareto estimators that make more efficient use of tail observations by incorporating the location, scale and shape extreme value parameters: the first class relies on asymmetric least squares estimation, while the second is based on extreme quantile estimation. A comparison with simulated and real data shows the superiority of our proposals for real-valued profit-loss distributions
Climate Innovation and Carbon Emissions: Evidence from Supply Chain Networks
We study the effect of climate-related innovation on carbon emissions by analyzing supply chain networks. We find that climate innovation reduces carbon emissions at customer firms, driven by product innovations. The effect is economically significant, dominated by the most emission-intensive customer firms, gradually increases over a five-year horizon, and is significant for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. We then look at the diffusion of climate innovation to new customers. We find that customers ex-hibit a strong preference for suppliers with new climate patents, that climate patents allow suppliers to attract new customers, especially customers with high environmental ratings or a large carbon footprint, and that these new customers subsequently also reduce their emissions. We use the quasi-random assignment of patent examiners and the exogenous technological obsolescence of climate patents as instruments to suggest a causal interpretation of the main findings
Price parallelism in the greek steel market : evidence of a false cartel accusation
Collusion remains a strong undercurrent of business practice despite anti-cartel enforcement being a top priority of competition authorities. Alongside active prosecution of cartels, the study of cartels is a vibrant area of research for economic and legal scholars. A challenge for both practice and scholarship is that cartels evolve, as colluding firms continuously devise new methods to circumvent competition. Cartels Diagnosed presents twelve gripping cartel case studies of collusion from key business sectors such as the airline industry, the gasoline industry, and big pharma. Written by renowned economists, these concise and accessible case studies deliver novel insights into cartel formation, facilitating practices, cartels' modus operandi, and the efficacy of cartels. Assisting in understanding new cartel mechanisms and their effects, developing new policies to deter and destabilize cartels, and measuring harm, this volume on cartel morphology is an invaluable reference for supporting public and private enforcers in detecting and prosecuting cartels. Expands the reader's knowledge of why and how cartels form, better equipping them to predict where cartels will form offers case studies of cartel practices, explaining how to detect collusion and devise policies to make them less effective. Explains how and when cartels are most effective and the harm created by collusio
