publisher青森市国立情報学研究所の「学術雑誌公開支援事業」により電子化されました。This study was conducted, based on E. M. Rogers' diffusion theory, on the diffusion of nursing practices that are recognized by nurses as innovations and are based on clear evidence. Diffusion patterns were categorized and their correlation to characteristics of nursing practices was investigated. The study subjects were nurses who work in medical and surgical wards. They were selected by stratified sampling from nationwide hospitals categorized according to the number of hospital beds. For the questionnaire, innovative nursing practices were listed in brainstorming by researchers and interviews by experts in each nursing area, and, then 22 items that were considered evidence-based were selected after the document review in Japan. The nurses were asked about the status of knowledge, persuasion, decision, and implementation based on Rogers' model of stages in the innovation-decision process. Among valid responses, percentages of positive opinions in each stage were shown graphically and categorized into the diffusion pattern. The results showed that the diffusion pattern in which nurses scored "high on all four stages" was seen in the practices related to infection prevention. A total of six patterns, including those rated "low on knowledge and implementation," "low only on knowledge," "high only on implementation," "low only on implementation," and "low on persuasion and implementation," were identified
