Variability-driven user-story generation using LLM and triadic concept analysis
A widely used Agile practice for requirements is to produce a set of user stories (also called “agile product backlog”), which roughly includes a list of pairs (role, feature), where the role handles the feature for a certain purpose. In the context of Software Product Lines, the requirements for a family of similar systems is thus a family of user-story sets, one per system, leading to a 3-dimensional dataset composed of sets of triples (system, role, feature). In this paper, we combine Triadic Concept Analysis (TCA) and Large Language Model (LLM) prompting to suggest the user-story set required to develop a new system relying on the variability logic of an existing system family. This process consists in 1) computing 3-dimensional variability expressed as a set of TCA implications, 2) providing the designer with intelligible design options, 3) capturing the designer's selection of options, 4) proposing a first user-story set corresponding to this selection, 5) consolidating its validity according to the implications identified in step 1, while completing it if necessary, and 6) leveraging LLM to have a more comprehensive website. This process is evaluated with a dataset comprising the user- story sets of 67 similar-purpose websites
Achieving higher standards in species distribution modeling by leveraging the diversity of available software
The increasing online availability of biodiversity data and advances in ecological modeling have led to a proliferation of open-source modeling tools. In particular, R packages for species distribution modeling continue to multiply without guidance on how they can be employed together, resulting in high fidelity of researchers to one or several packages. Here, we assess the wide variety of software for species distribution models (SDMs) and highlight how packages can work together to diversify and expand analyses in each step of a modeling workflow. We also introduce the new R package 'sdmverse' to catalog metadata for packages, cluster them based on their methodological functions, and visualize their relationships. To demonstrate how pluralism of software use helps improve SDM workflows, we provide three extensive and fully documented analyses that utilize tools for modeling and visualization from multiple packages, then score these tutorials according to recent methodological standards. We end by identifying gaps in the capabilities of current tools and highlighting outstanding challenges in the development of software for SDMs

Compte rendu de mission au Bénin, du 17 au 24 mars 2025 dans le cadre du projet Santés & Territoires
La mission a été financée par le projet Santé & Territoires (S&T). En tant qu'encadrants de la thèse d'Hermeline Dossa, l'objectif principal de notre mission était d'appuyer la doctorante sur son terrain. Après une visite à l'IRC (institut de recherche sur le coton) de Cotonou, nous avons pris la route jusqu'à Parakou (B). De là, nous sommes allés deux jours d'affilée à Monnon (C. à 30 min de voiture, à l'ouest de Parakou). A cause des problèmes d'insécurité, on nous a conseillés de ne pas y retourner une troisième fois. Nous sommes donc restés à Parakou le vendredi pour travailler sur le modèle d'Hermeline. Le samedi, retour jusqu'à Dassa (D) pour assister le dimanche au jeu sérieux organisé par Anita Dossouhoui - en thèse à l'IRC - à Savalou (E). Lundi, retour à Cotonou. Cereal-legume intercropping to stabilise yields in tropical regions: Evaluation of the STICS soil-crop model
The ability of cereal-legume intercropping to increase and stabilise yields in tropical climates has not been tested over a wide range of environments. We evaluated the STICS crop model and simulated a 20-year historical climate series for sole crops and cereal-legume intercropping on sites with contrasting climates in tropical regions. During the evaluation, the model simulated yields accurately except in the case of very low-yielding legumes in intercropping. The simulations then suggested that intercropping increased protein productivity and yield stability compared with cereal sole cropping, although these benefits diminished as nitrogen fertilisation increased. Recently published work on improvements to the model will enable these promising results to be consolidated
Promotion de la transition agroécologique en zones tropicales : Les enjeux du maraîchage périurbain
L'utilisation des pesticides chimiques a longtemps été encouragée pour protéger les cultures d'exportation, afin de garantir une production agricole optimale et une source de revenu des acteurs dans les agricultures tropicales. Ces pesticides chimiques, initialement homologués pour une utilisation sur les monocultures de type industriel, telles que le coton, la banane, le café et le cacao, ont fini par être utilisés de façon systématique et intensive sur les cultures maraîchères, occasionnant des impacts négatifs pour la santé humaine et environnementale. Ce qui soulève la nécessité de promouvoir la transition agroécologique dans le maraîchage pour assurer une production durable de légumes sains. Nos résultats montrent que, malgré la volonté des maraîchers à adopter des pratiques agroécologiques, plusieurs freins existent. Durant 5 années, des chercheurs de plusieurs disciplines et des acteurs du développement ont accompagné un réseau de plus de 500 maraîchers périurbains, permettant de co-identifier des leviers pour cette transition agroécologique. Il s'agit notamment de la sécurisation foncière et de l'accès à l'eau ; de l'accès aux intrants biologiques et aux innovations agroécologiques ; ainsi que de la mise en place de systèmes participatifs de garantie
Digging deeper into the impacts of different soil water systems on the date palm root architecture and associated fungal communities
In arid regions, excessive water use threatens agricultural sustainability and overall livelihoods. It is essential to minimize water consumption to address these issues. Date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) is an emblematic crop of arid regions and a major water consumer. Adapting current irrigation systems to be more water-efficient systems could help cope with the water consumption of this crop. Microbial communities associated with plants are essential for agricultural sustainability and could improve the water use efficiency in regions threatened by water scarcity. These communities should thus be seriously taken into account when adapting agrosystems to the current global change setting. However, no information is presently available on the effects of the different soil water systems on date palm microbial communities. This study highlights the impact of different soil water systems (flooding and drip irrigation, natural conditions and abandoned farms) on date palm root fungal communities at different soil depths (40, 80 and 140 cm deep). The findings revealed that the soil water systems had a marked impact on fungal communities and that drip irrigation reduced the fungal diversity but increased the abundance of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. We showed that these effects were similar at all sampling depths. Finally, as the root architecture is a major determinant of water uptake, we reveal different behaviors of the root architecture under these different soil water systems to 160 cm depth. The findings of this study give new insights into the date palm root architecture and associated fungal communities, particularly in the context of the water availability crisis, which drives the adaptation of agricultural systems
