How Does Citizenship Take Shape? : A Qualitative Analysis of Citizenship Dimensions in Upper-Secondary Social Studies Textbooks for the Gy25 Curriculum
This study examines how the civil, political, and social dimensions ofcitizenship are represented in two newly published Swedish upper secondarycivics textbooks, designed to align with the revised curriculum Gy25. Basedon T.H. Marshall’s tripartite theory of citizenship, a qualitative, deductivecontent analysis is conducted, focusing on how rights, duties, and the role ofthe state are portrayed within each dimension. The findings show that both textbooks emphasize rights, particularlycivil and political, while duties and institutional responsibility receive morelimited attention. The representations often rely on normative or juridicalperspectives, with little focus on conflict, exclusion, or democraticparticipation as critical practices. Social citizenship is primarily described interms of welfare access, rather than as a matter of social justice or politicalagency. The study concludes that citizenship in these textbooks is oftendepicted as passive, individualized, and norm-driven. This may weaken thecivic education goals of Gy25, particularly in terms of fostering criticalthinking, pluralism, and the student’s role as an active participant in society.Didactic implications are discussed, including the importance of deliberativeclassrooms, student-relevant content, and analytical tools for understandingsociety.
Measurement properties of the Minimal Insomnia Symptom Scale (MISS) among cardiac arrest survivors - A Rasch evaluation study
Introduction: Cardiac arrest (CA) survivors often face significant health challenges, including insomnia, which can adversely affect their healthrelated quality of life. The Minimal Insomnia Symptom Scale (MISS) is a brief, self-reported instrument designed to screen for insomnia. This study aimed to identify the measurement properties of the MISS in CA survivors and to explore a relevant cut-off score. Methods: Data were collected from two studies: a health survey of CA survivors and a sub-study of a randomized controlled trial (RCT) on targeted temperature management (TTM2). A total of 269 CA survivors participated, with 212 from the survey and 57 from the RCT, the data was collected 6- 7 months after CA. The MISS was evaluated using the polytomous Rasch model, focusing on model fit, local independence, response category functioning, targeting, reliability, and differential item functioning (DIF). Results: In total, 212 participants were males and 57 females, with a mean age of 66 years. Overall, 51% had survived in-hospital CA and 49% outof-hospital CA. The MISS exhibited acceptable model fit and targeting, with no disordered thresholds or DIF for age, sex, or place of arrest. The reliability was acceptable. The suggested optimal cut-off score for identifying insomnia was >6 points. Conclusions: The findings indicate that MISS is a valid and reliable screening instrument for insomnia in CA survivors. These results support the use of MISS for screening insomnia in CA survivors
Policy to Practice : Examining the Ethical Use of Eco-labels in Marketing
This study explores the ethical use of Green Key certification within the Swedishhotel industry, focusing on whether it functions as a genuine driver of sustainablepractices or as a marketing tool. Through a qualitative case study approach, interviews were conducted with hotel managers, housekeeping staff, and kitchenpersonnel in Green Key-certified hotels. The analysis centers on four keyoperational areas: waste management, staff involvement, guest communication, andenvironmentally friendly cleaning procedures. Findings reveal a significant gapbetween promotional messaging and internal practices, with sustainability oftenemphasized more in branding than in daily operations. While the certification offersstrategic marketing advantages and enhances consumer trust, inconsistent stafftraining and limited guest engagement suggest the risk of greenwashing. Thisresearch highlights the importance of aligning certification standards with authenticoperational behavior and offers practical recommendations for improving thecredibility and effectiveness of eco-labels in hospitality
Differences in use of telemedicine integrated into traditional primary health care - a comparative observational study
Telemedicine in primary health care is expected to address many of the issues currently challenging service delivery. However, the impact and effect will depend on who will use the new technology. ObjectiveThe objective of the study was to investigate differences between users and non-users of telemedicine integrated into traditional office-based primary health care. MethodsQuantitative registry-based population study in two regions in the southeast part of Sweden (n = 73,486), comparing users with non-users of telemedicine across the variables sex, age, socioeconomic status (SES), morbidity and health care seeking behaviour (HSB). Two study periods of six months were used (September 2019-February 2020 for Region & Ouml;sterg & ouml;tland, and September 2021-February 2022 for Region Kalmar County) to collect user data. A reference period of 36 months (September 2016-August 2019) was used, to collect data on HSB. ResultsUsers were more often women under the age of 60 and had higher morbidity (measured as resource utilisation) than non-users (p < .001). In contrast, no statistically significant differences were seen between the two groups regarding SES, measured as Care Need Index (CNI). Regarding HSB, a proxy measure (health record entries) showed more entries for users than non-users. ConclusionsOur findings suggest that users are more likely to be women and below the age of 60. Likewise, users also tend to have a greater need for health care services compared to non-users, and they seek health care more often compared to non-users. No differences regarding SES were found
When Influence Meets Authenticity : A Qualitative Study Exploring Gen Z’s Perceptions of Credibility on TikTok
This study explores how the combination of influencer marketing and user-generated content (UGC) on TikTok affects Gen Z’s perception of credibility. As traditional advertising loses effectiveness among younger audiences, marketers increasingly rely on hybrid content strategies that blend professional influence with peer-generated authenticity. While influencer marketing offers aspirational value and reach, UGC is perceived as more relatable and genuine. However, the credibility effects of combining these approaches remain underexplored particularly on platform-specific environments like TikTok.Using a qualitative method, this research applied a deductive approach grounded in established theories such as Source Credibility Theory, the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM), Social Proof Theory, and the Persuasion Knowledge Model. Data were collected through twenty semi-structured interviews with Swedish TikTok users from Gen Z between the ages of 18–28. Thematic analysis was conducted to identify patterns in how participants interpreted credibility across different content types.Findings demonstrate that credibility is strengthened when influencers engage with authentic user content, such as product reviews or reactions. Micro-influencers were generally perceived as more trustworthy than macro-influencers, especially when they interacted with UGC that appeared spontaneous and emotionally honest. Participants relied on both central and peripheral cues such as expertise, relatability, follower engagement, and visual authenticity when forming credibility judgments. Transparency and emotional connection were crucial factors in shaping trust. The study contributes to existing literature by offering a platform-specific and cultural contextualised understanding of how Gen Z evaluates credibility in hybrid content. It also provides practical insights for marketers, suggesting that carefully crafted collaborations between influencers and everyday users can foster higher engagement and trust. However, overly commercialised content or misaligned messaging risks triggering audience scepticism
Facing emotions : A study on adolescents' experiences of undergoing ERGT-A
The aim of the study was to explore the experience of participating in emotion regulation group therapy (ERGT-A) for adolescents with self-harm. Self-harming behaviors have increased over past decades, especially among adolescents. The subjective experience of participating in ERGT-A is an area requiring further research to complement quantitative studies and to provide guidance to clinicians on how to apply ERGT-A in a more helpful way, which may contribute to the development of the treatment. A qualitative approach was adopted in this study, using semi-structured interviews as the data collection method. The study is part of a larger research project and the eight participants were selected from the main project. The analysis was conducted using thematic analysis following the steps by Braun and Clarke (2006), at a semantic level and with an inductive approach. The main themes that emerged in the results were: connection, motivation and engagement, treatment components and change and insights. Participants emphasized the importance of group connection and the opportunity to share experiences with others. It also emerged that the adolescents' motivation to participate in the treatment was influenced by both social factors from their environment and material factors, such as stickers and coffee breaks. Furthermore, the value of specific treatment components—such as the therapists’ approach—was highlighted. The adolescents also described perceived changes, such as an increased ability to acknowledge and process their emotions. Several similarities with previous studies are discussed, including the impact of peer interaction and the therapeutic approach, which were experienced as reducing shame and stigma. In addition, the development of new emotion regulation strategies aligns with previous research. The risk of exclusion in group therapy settings have been highlighted in previous studies, although this was not supported in the present study as all participants reported a sense of belonging - even those who did not find the treatment helpful. The adolescents described their experience of the treatment as contributing to a deeper sense of connection and enhanced skills in recognizing, acknowledging, and communicating emotions. These findings may form a foundation for future research and contribute to the ongoing development of ERGT-A. Furthermore, these findings may help clinicians implement ERGT-A in a more supportive and effective way
Plant development after the forest fire in Kårböle on unburned and burned forest land
Navigating the Paradox : Aligning Sustainability Values with Business Practices in Swedish SMEs
Sustainability has become a critical issue for businesses. However, many organisations struggle to reconcile their stated sustainability values with their actual business practices. This issue is particularly pressing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Despite having a significant environmental impact, SMEs frequently lack the resources, expertise, and institutional support of larger organisations. Previous sustainability research primarily focused on large corporations, leaving SMEs under-represented. This study investigates the challenge of integrating sustainability commitments into Swedish SMEs' actual business practices, primarily in manufacturing. We will look at the issues through the lens of paradox theory, which acknowledges the inherent tensions between economic, social, and environmental goals. The study's goal is to better understand how Swedish SMEs perceive and integrate sustainability values, how they align and communicate these values, and what key internal barriers they face. Following an abductive research approach, the study employs a qualitative methodology, specifically a multiple case study and semi-structured interviews with managers of Swedish SMEs. Thematic analysis of the collected data aims to provide insights into the complex organisational dynamics involved in sustainability integration. The study seeks to make both practical and theoretical contributions. By informing managers about barriers to implementing sustainability initiatives it provides practical insights. It also aims to contribute to the academic discussion of the role of organisational values, employee engagement, and the regulatory context in achieving sustainability goals.
