EFFECTIVE REMOVAL OF CYTOTOXIC CYCLOPHOSPHAMIDE FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS USING NOVEL ADSORBENT (HEMP ROOT)
Cyclophosphamide (CLP) is a commonly used chemotherapeutic agent, raising environmental concerns due to its potential for bioaccumulation, endocrine disruption, and toxicity. This study investigates the removal of CLP from water using activated carbon derived from hemp roots. Hemp activated carbon (HAC) was produced via chemical activation with H3PO4 and characterized using BET, SEM-EDX, and FTIR techniques. The research examined various factors affecting CLP adsorption, including initial concentrations (30-80 mg/L), pH (2-12), adsorbent dose (10-50 mg/25 mL), contact time (0-240 min), and temperature (298-318 K). Adsorption kinetics was evaluated using pseudo-first-and pseudo-second-order models, while equilibrium was analyzed with Langmuir and Freundlich models. Results indicated a maximum removal efficiency of 90.48% at an initial concentration of 50 mu g/L, an adsorbent dose of 1.20 g/L, a contact time of 180 min, and a pH of 7.00. The pseudo-second-order kinetic model (R-2: 0.9999) and Langmuir isotherm model (R2: 0.9971) effectively described the adsorption process. Thermodynamic analysis confirmed that the process is spontaneous (Delta G degrees < 0), exothermic (Delta H degrees < 0), and results in decreased system disorder (Delta S degrees < 0). This method offers a promising approach for effectively removing cyclophosphamide from water systems

XIX. asrın başlarından itibaren Osmanlı Devleti’nin idari yapısında kayda değer değişiklikler yaşanmıştır. Bu değişiklikler yalnızca kurumların işleyişini değil, devlet içindeki bürokratik belgelerin düzenlenmesi biçimini de kapsamaktadır. Özellikle Sadaret’te kayıt altına alınan Ayniyat defterleri, bu dönemde merkezi idare ile taşra arasındaki yazışmaların düzenli biçimde belgelemesini sağlamıştır. Üzerinde çalıştığımız defter Osmanlı Arşivinde Bab-ı Ali Evrak odası Aynıyat defterleri (BEOAYN.d) içinde 326 numaraya kayıtlı olup tam adı Anadolu ve Rumeli Hafaya defteridir. Kapsadağı 1242/1826-1827 tarihleri arasında özellikle yeniçeriliğinin kaldırılması sonrasında Rumeli’de yaşanan gelişmeleri, Anadolu ve Suriye’deki isyan olaylarının ve Güney Kafkasya’daki bazı olayları ihtiva etmektedir. Defterini içerdiği belgeler merkezin taşradaki gelişmelere nasıl yaklaştığını, idari kararların iletim süreçlerini, görev atamalarını, halktan gelen talepleri ve devlet içindeki yaşanan sosyal problemlere dair gelişmeler bakımından önemlidir. Bu yönüyle defter, yanlızca devletin işleyiş mekanizmasını değil, taşrada yaşayan halkın ihityaclarını, şikayetlerini ve bunların merkeze nasıl yansıdığını bizlere göstermektedir. Çalışma çerçevesinde oldukça iyi Arapça ve Farsça bildikleri anlaşılan katipler tarafından yapılan yazışmaların transkripsyonu yapılmış ve içeriğin anlaşılması maksadıyla bazı olayların detayı ile tüm belgelerin özeti yapılmıştır.From the early 19th century onwards, significant changes took place in the administrative structure of the Ottoman Empire. These changes not only affected the functioning of institutions but also transformed the way bureaucratic documentation was organized within the state. In particular, the Ayniyat registers kept at the Grand Vizierate ensured systematic documentation of correspondence between the central authority and the provinces during this period. The register studied in this research is catalogued as number 326 in the Bab-ı Ali Evrak Odası Ayniyat Defterleri (BEOAYN.d) collection of the Ottoman Archives, and is officially titled the Anatolian and Rumelian Hafaya Register. It covers the years 1242–1243 AH (1826–1827 CE), a period which witnessed considerable administrative and social developments following the abolition of the Janissary Corps. The register includes reports on developments in Rumelia, rebellions in Anatolia and Syria, and events in the South Caucasus. The documents contained in the register are of particular importance for understanding the Ottoman center's approach to events in the provinces. They shed light on the transmission of administrative decisions, the appointment of officials, petitions from the populace, and various social problems within the state. In this regard, the register provides valuable insight not only into the mechanisms of governance but also into the needs, complaints, and local dynamics of provincial society, and how these were communicated to the central administration. Within the framework of this study, the transcriptions of the documents written by scribes evidently well-versed in Arabic and Persian have been completed. Moreover, in order to enhance understanding of the content, detailed summaries of the documents and contextual explanations of selected events have also been provided
A study on relıgıous lıfe ın Şuhut
Toplumların kültürel dokusunu şekillendiren en temel unsurlardan biri de dinî hayattır. Din, bireylerin düşünce dünyasını, davranış kalıplarını ve sosyal ilişkilerini etkileyerek toplumsal yapının inşasında belirleyici bir rol üstlenir. Sosyolojik bağlamda değerlendirildiğinde dinî hayat, yalnızca bireysel inançları değil, aynı zamanda kolektif ritüelleri, dini pratikleri, sembolleri ve değerleri kapsayan geniş bir alana işaret eder. Bu yönüyle din, toplumsal aidiyet duygusunun gelişmesine katkı sunarken, aynı zamanda kültürel sürekliliğin korunmasına da hizmet eder. Dini hayatın toplumsal düzeydeki tezahürleri, zaman ve mekânla birlikte farklılaşabilmekte; farklı dinamikler bu yapıyı doğrudan etkileyebilmektedir. Bu bağlamda belirli bir bölgedeki dinî hayatı anlamaya yönelik yerel çalışmalar, hem bölgenin sosyal yapısını çözümleme açısından hem de Türkiye’deki genel dindarlık eğilimlerini karşılaştırmalı olarak değerlendirme açısından önemli katkılar sağlar. Özellikle kırsal toplumlarda dinin günlük yaşamdaki etkisini gözlemlemek, dindarlık formlarının iç içe geçişini anlamak açısından dikkat çekici veriler sunmaktadır. Bu çalışma, modern dünyanın değişen toplumsal yapısı içerisinde Şuhut ilçesindeki dini hayatı incelemek ve bölgenin geleneksel dindarlık dokusunu ortaya çıkarmak amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma hem teorik hem de pratik düzlemde ele alınmıştır. İlk olarak Şuhut’un sosyal yapısı, tarihsel arka planı ve dini yaşantıyı etkileyen temel dinamiklere değinilmiştir. Ardından teorik kısımda din-toplum ilişkisi, dindarlık kavramı ve sosyolojik yaklaşımlar tartışılmış; son olarak uygulamalı bölümde ise, saha araştırmasından elde edilen bulgular analiz edilerek değerlendirilmiştirReligious life is one of the most fundamental elements that shape the cultural fabric of societies. Religion plays a decisive role in the construction of the social structure by influencing the world of thought, behaviour patterns and social relations of individuals. When evaluated in a sociological context, religious life refers to a wide area that includes not only individual beliefs but also collective rituals, religious practices, symbols and values. In this respect, religion not only contributes to the development of a sense of social belonging, but also serves to preserve cultural continuity. The manifestations of religious life at the social level may differ with time and space; different dynamics may directly affect this structure. In this context, local studies aimed at understanding the religious life in a particular region provide important contributions both in terms of analysing the social structure of the region and in terms of comparatively evaluating the general religiosity trends in Turkey. Especially in rural societies, observing the impact of religion in daily life provides remarkable data in terms of understanding the intertwining of forms of religiosity. This study was carried out in order to examine the religious life in Şuhut district within the changing social structure of the modern world and to reveal the traditional piety texture of the region. The study has been handled both theoretically and practically. Firstly, the social structure of Şuhut, its historical background and the basic dynamics affecting religious life are mentioned. Then, in the theoretical part, the relationship between religion and society, the concept of religiosity and sociological approaches were discussed; finally, in the practical part, the findings obtained from the field research were analysed and evaluated
Parental Engagement and Satisfaction in Early Childhood Education: The Mediating Role of Home Literacy Environment
Parental engagement is widely recognized as a key factor in children's development and education, with parental satisfaction and the home literacy environment (HLE) contributing to positive educational outcomes. Exploring how these elements interact can enhance our understanding of parental engagement in early childhood education. This study examines the relationships among parental satisfaction, parental engagement, and the HLE, considering the potential moderating role of household income. A path analysis was conducted with a sample of 660 parents (mean age = 33.57 years, SD = 5.06 years) whose children, aged 60-72 months, were enrolled in early childhood education programs in T & uuml;rkiye. Results indicated that parents' satisfaction positively influenced both parental engagement and the HLE. The HLE partially mediated the relationship between parents' satisfaction and parental engagement. Household income moderated the effects of the HLE on parental engagement and between parents' satisfaction and the HLE for certain income groups. Variations in parental engagement and the HLE were observed across different income levels. These findings highlight the importance of parents' satisfaction and the HLE in shaping parental engagement in early childhood education, with implications for educators, administrators, parents, and curriculum developers.Afyon Kocatepe UniversityThe authors extend their profound gratitude to Prof. Dr. Feyza Erden, Assoc. 3D MEDICAL IMAGE SEGMENTATION WITH DEEP LEARNING METHODS
With advancements in technology, three-dimensional (3D) medical imaging has become vital in modern medicine, contributing to more accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and personalized medicine. However, segmenting abdominal organs remains a challenging task due to anatomical variations, limited labeled data, and image noise. This study investigates the impact of deep learning-based architectures and preprocessing techniques on 3D organ segmentation using the publicly available Multi-Atlas Labeling Beyond the Cranial Vault (BTCV) dataset. To achieve this, 3D U-Net, UNETR, and SwinUNETR models were employed, and the effects of various preprocessing techniques and loss functions, including Dice Loss, Focal Loss, and Cross-Entropy Loss, were systematically analyzed. The findings reveal that combining Dice Loss with Cross-Entropy Loss significantly enhances segmentation performance. Additionally, preprocessing techniques improved segmentation accuracy by 1.19%, further optimizing model performance. Among the evaluated models, 3D U-Net achieved the highest overall segmentation performance, with an average Dice score of 0.8397, outperforming SwinUNETR and UNETR. These findings underscore the importance of selecting appropriate preprocessing methods and loss functions in 3D medical image segmentation. The results contribute to more precise and efficient medical image analysis, with potential applications in clinical decision support systems. Future research should focus on optimizing hybrid architectures, integrating advanced augmentation strategies, and expanding evaluation across multiple datasets to improve the robustness and real-world applicability of automated segmentation methods
İsmail Uyaroglu: Life, art and themes in his poetry
Bu çalışma, İsmail Uyaroğlu'nun edebî şahsiyetini ve poetikasını, hayatı ile sanatsal üretimi arasındaki ilişki ekseninde incelemektedir. İncelemenin temel hedefi, şairin şiirlerini kurgulama yöntemlerini çözümleyerek bu şiirlerin dayandığı tematik ve estetik esasları belirlemektir. Şairin şiirlerini organize etme şekli, kullandığı şiir teknikleri ve öne çıkan temalar üzerinde durularak, şiirlerine estetik değerini nasıl kazandırdığı tespit edilmiştir. Şiir metninin çok anlamlı olması dolayısıyla yalnızca tek bir disipline bağlı kalınmamış, anlamlandırma noktasında şiiri merkeze alarak, metinlerin yönlendirdiği farklı disiplinlere de başvurulmuştur. Birinci bölümde İsmail Uyaroğlu’nun hayatı ve şiirlerinden hareketle dil ve üslup özellikleri değerlendirilmiştir. İkinci bölümde şiirlerinde ağırlıklı olarak işlenen temalar belirlenmiş, ele alış biçimleri üzerinde durulmuştur.The present study examines the literary personality and poetics of İsmail Uyaroğlu, focusing on the relationship between his life and his artistic production. The primary objective of the analysis is to examine the poet's methodologies in constructing his poems and to ascertain the thematic and aesthetic principles that underpin these compositions. By examining the manner in which the poet organizes his poems, the poetic techniques he employs, and the prominent themes he incorporates, it is possible to ascertain the aesthetic value attributed to his poems. Given the multi-meaningfulness of the poem, adherence to a single discipline proved unfeasible. Instead, a range of disciplines were employed, with the text serving as the primary point of reference for interpretation. In the opening chapter, an evaluation of the linguistic and stylistic features of İsmail Uyaroğlu's life and poetry is conducted. In the second part, the thematic elements that are predominantly addressed in his poetry are identified, and the manner in which they are handled is accentuated
Using a Location-Based Augmented Reality Mobile Application to Support the New Students’ Orientation Process
This study aims to develop a location-based augmented reality (LBAR) Android application and test its effectiveness in supporting orientation programs for newly enrolled students. The application was designed to facilitate easier adaptation to the environment and university life for novice students. Unity, ARCore SDK, and the AR+GPS Unity Package were used to develop the application. Using an experimental design, forty-four first-year students participated in the study. The experimental group consisted of 23 first-year students, while the control group consisted of 21 first-year students. The experimental group used the LBAR application, whereas the control group followed the traditional guide (person) assisted orientation program. The data collection instruments included a demographic survey form, a spatial ability inventory, a mobile orientation assessment survey, and pre-and post-tests designed to evaluate participants’ knowledge of specific locations. The analysis indicated that both groups improved their retention scores of institutional knowledge in the post-test compared to their pre-test scores after the orientation program. However, the physical orientation group performed better than the LBAR group in the post-knowledge test. No significant difference was found in spatial knowledge between the groups. Finally, students using the LBAR application generally provided positive views on the application’s use. We conclude that the location-based AR mobile application could be a valuable tool in the orientation process once the necessary enhancements are implemented. © 2025 The Author(s)
The Role of Parents' Gender Role Perceptions in Predicting Psychological Resilience in Preschool Children: Exploring the Moderating Effect of Empathy
The present study aimed to examine the direct relationships between parents' gender role perceptions, empathy, and their children's levels of psychological resilience, as well as to investigate the moderating role of parents' empathy levels in the relationship between gender role perceptions and children's levels of psychological resilience. The study sample consists of 206 parents (196 mothers and 10 fathers) with children attending preschool. Participants were provided with measures of gender role perceptions, empathy, and psychological resilience along with a personal information form. The research was conducted within the framework of a correlational survey model. The findings indicated significant relationships between parents' gender role perceptions, empathy, and their children's levels of psychological resilience. However, the findings did not provide evidence for the moderating role of parents' empathy levels in the relationship between parents' gender role perceptions and their children's levels of psychological resilience. The results underscore the importance of considering the strong role of parents' gender role perceptions in their children's levels of psychological resilience. The research findings are discussed in the light of literature
Exploring Studies on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Education: A Meta-Synthesis Study
This meta-synthesis study systematically examines recent research on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, a field that has rapidly expanded in recent years. The primary aim is to evaluate the effects of AI, explore stakeholders’ perceptions and acceptance levels, and assess future trends. Master’s and doctoral theses published between 2018 and 2023 were identified through the Higher Education Council National Thesis Center (YÖKTEZ) and ProQuest databases. Following PRISMA guidelines, inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied, allowing only English or Turkish full-text theses or dissertations that used qualitative or mixed methods at the K-12 or higher education levels. Studies employing quantitative methods, focusing on non-educational domains, or lacking full-text access were excluded. Ultimately, 27 studies were selected. These were analyzed using the meta-synthesis process described by Polat and Ay (2016), and thematic findings were synthesized. Results indicate that AI enhances academic achievement, personalizes learning, and enriches instructional practices. Teachers and students generally express positive attitudes toward AI, though concerns remain about data privacy, security, and ethical issues. The findings also highlight challenges, such as insufficient technological infrastructure, limited institutional support, and the need for substantial budgets. The study concludes that strategic national policies are essential for effectively transitioning to AI-supported educational systems
Okul Öncesi Öğretmenleri Drama Etkinliklerinde Toplumsal Cinsiyet Eşitliğine Ne Kadar Duyarlı?
Cinsiyet biyolojik kavram iken toplumsal cinsiyeti kültürle inşa edilen bir kavramdır. Toplumsal cinsiyet algısı çocukluktan itibaren gelişmeye başlamaktadır. Erken çocuklukta aile ve okul bu algının oluşmasında oldukça önemlidir. Bu sebeple bu çalışmanın amacı, okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin toplumsal cinsiyet rollerine ilişkin algılarının drama etkinliklerindeki rolleri dağıtmalarını nasıl yönlendirdiğini değerlendirmektir. Çalışmanın yöntemi, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden durum araştırmasıdır. Çalışma grubu; Afyonkarahisar Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü’ne bağlı ana okullarda görev yapmakta olan ve aktif drama etkinliği uygulayan 20 okul öncesi öğretmenidir. Bu çalışmada, araştırmacıların görüşmeler ve kontrol listeleri ile elde ettiği verilerin analizinde içerik analiz tekniği kullanılmıştır. Öğretmenlerin drama etkinliklerinde mesleklere yönelik cinsiyet kalıp yargılarının olduğu belirlenmiştir. Erkek çocuklarına güç gerektiren meslekleri; kız çocuklarına öğretmen, hemşire gibi meslek rollerini verdikleri tespit edilmiştir. Güçlü, cesaretli ve narin gibi özellikleri olan hayvanlara belirli cinsiyet atıflarının olduğu bulunmuştur. Okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin drama etkinliklerinde rolleri dağıtırken, çocukların kişilik ve karakter özelliklerine göre dağılım yaptıklarını belirtmişlerdir. Ancak belirli rolleri belirli cinsiyetlere atfetmektedirler. Bu doğrultuda, toplumsal cinsiyet kalıp yargılarının davranışlarına yansıdığı belirlenmiştir. Drama rollerinin dağılımında geleneksel beklentilere bağlı kaldıkları sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlar doğrultusunda cinsiyet eşitliğine duyarlılığı artırmak adına öğretmenlere hizmet içi eğitimler verilebilir
