Do global uncertainties and financial distress impact Sukuk issuance?
Purpose & horbar; This paper examines the impact of major uncertainty indices and global uncertainty on the volume of Sukuk issuance in T & uuml;rkiye. Method - The NARDL method is applied to determine the short-and long-term relationships between T & uuml;rkiye's sukuk issuance and global uncertainty and financial stress indices, capturing both symmetric and asymmetric dimensions. Findings - Although a symmetric relationship exists between Global Economic Policy Uncertainty (GEPU) and Sukuk issuance, the Financial Stress Index (FSI) has no long-term impact on Sukuk issuance. During periods of global uncertainty, sukuk issuances increase, whereas in conditions of less uncertainty, they fall. There is an inverse relationship between Geopolitical Risk (GPR) and Sukuk issuance. Since all factors affect sukuk issuance in the short run, GEPU has the highest impact. Decreases in the GEPU index positively affect sukuk securities and increase their issuance volumes. Therefore, GPR and GEPU indices have asymmetric effects on sukuk issuances in the short and long term. Implication - Evidence suggests that sukuk is more resilient to crises than its conventional equivalents. Sukuks are strategically crucial for portfolios and provide sufficient assurance to reduce risk. Originality - No study has assessed how global financial distress and uncertainty influence T & uuml;rkiye's sukuk issuance. This study differs from previous studies by focusing on sukuk issuance volumes rather than sukuk yields
Chiral borohydride complex crystals: synthesis, structure, reduction application of acetophenone and in-silico studies
Borohydride, BH4- , commonly designated as NaBH4, is a key reducing agent in organic chemistry, primarily used to reduce carbonyl groups, resulting in compounds like alcohols and amines. Synthesis of boron crystals was carried out by employing sodium boron hydride (NaBH4) in the current study. One of the crystals was synthesized with diglyme (diethylene glycol dimethyl ether) (1) and the other one was achieved with 3,5-lutidine (3,5dimethylpyridine) (2). NaBH4:Diglyme (1) crystals were employed to reduce acetophenone. The enantiomeric selectivity was implemented as a result of the reduction. However, the reduction occurred with 36 % efficiency, and a racemic mixture was formed. The existence of enantiomeric products was detected by HPLC and polarimetric reading. Although the reduction of acetophenone using NaBH4:diglyme (1) crystals resulted in a racemic mixture overall, HPLC and polarimetric analyses revealed the presence of both enantiomers, with a slight enantiomeric preference for (R)-2-phenylethanol. This suggests that the crystalline environment of the NaBH4: diglyme complex may exert a weak but measurable chiral influence during the reduction process, even though no external chiral reagents or catalysts were used. The NaBH4:3,5-lutidine (2) crystals were obtained newly, and their structure was analyzed by X-ray single crystal diffraction. The structure was found to be monoclinic with space group P21/c with C14H22BN2Na chemical formula. Additionally, the asymmetric unit, which contains one sodium atom coordinating two 3,5-lutidine ligands each; sodium atom is also connected to BH4. The optimization of compound 2 was carried out, and its geometric parameters, frontier molecular orbitals, and molecular electrostatic potential properties were investigated with the DFT method with the B3LYP/6-311G* basis set. According to the calculation applied on the DFT B3LYP 6-3111G* basis set, the Delta EGap value of compound 2 was found to be 4.96 eV. The interactions of compound 2 with the crystal structure of the theoretically determined target butyrylcholinesterase (PDB ID: 4TPK) were investigated by molecular docking. As a result of these investigations, the docking score value of the interaction of compound 2 with the AChE crystal structure was -7.013 kcal/mol, the Glide energy value was -32.682 kcal/mol, and the Glide evdw value was -27.728 kcal/mol
Investigation of the relationship between achievement-failure decrements and learning responsibilities of secondary school students
Bu araştırmada Ortaöğretim öğrencilerinin okul başarı başarısızlıklarına yükledikleri anlamlar ve öz yönelimli- dış yönelimli sorumluluk alma düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Bu araştırmada nicel araştırma desenlerinden ilişkisel (korelasyonel) desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırma çalışma evrenini 2023-2024 eğitim öğretim yılı içerisinde Afyonkarahisar ili Merkez ilçesinde yer alan devlet okullarında öğrenim gören 9., 10. ve 11. sınıf öğrencileri kapsamaktadır. Araştırmada başarı ve başarısızlık yüklemleri ile öğrenme sorumluluğu konularında yerli, yabancı literatür taraması yapılmıştır. Kuramsal çerçeve araştırması süresince elde edilen sonuçlar ve oluşturulan çerçeve sonucunda gerekli izinler alınarak veri toplama yöntemi olarak Demografik Bilgi Formu, Baltaoğlu, Sucuoğlu ve Yurdabakan (2015) geliştirdiği Başarı ve Başarısızlık Yüklemleri Ölçeği (BBY) ve Yeşil (2013) geliştirdiği Öğrenme Sorumluluğu Ölçeği (ÖSO-II) kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama süreci sonrasında normallik testi yapılmıştır. Normallik analizleri sonucu, verilerin parametrik testler için uygun olduğunu görülmüştür. İstatistiksel veri analizi yapılmıştır. Bu analizler sonucunda elde edilen bulgular, öğrencilerin başarıyı en çok öğretmen ve derse, başarısızlığı ise en çok ailelerine yüklediklerini göstermektedir. Cinsiyet değişkenine göre kız öğrencilerin hem yüklemelerde hem de öğrenme sorumluluğunda erkek öğrencilerden anlamlı düzeyde daha yüksek puanlar aldığı belirlenmiştir. Sınıf düzeyine göre, 11. sınıf öğrencilerinin özellikle aileye yönelik yüklemelerinin daha yüksek olduğu; okul türü açısından ise İmam Hatip Lisesi öğrencilerinin öğretmen-derse yönelik başarı yüklemeleri ve öğrenme sorumluluğu düzeylerinin daha yüksek olduğu saptanmıştır. Okulu sevme durumu, başarı yüklemeleri ve öğrenme sorumluluğunda anlamlı farklılık yaratırken, ailenin sosyoekonomik düzeyine göre anlamlı bir farklılık tespit edilmemiştir. Korelasyon analizlerinde, öğrenme sorumluluğu ile başarı yüklemeleri arasında pozitif ve anlamlı ilişkiler bulunmuş; çoklu regresyon analizine göre ise başarı yüklemelerinin öğrenme sorumluluğunu anlamlı şekilde yordadığı, başarısızlık yüklemelerinin ise öğrenme sorumluluğunu etkilemediği belirlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak, başarıya yönelik olumlu yüklemelerin öğrencilerin öğrenmeye yönelik sorumluluk algısını artırdığı ve bu bağlamda eğitimcilerin öğrencilerin yükleme tarzlarını dikkate alarak destekleyici yaklaşımlar geliştirmeleri gerektiği vurgulanmıştır. In this research, relational) pattern, one of the quantitative research patterns, was used. The study population consists of 9th, 10th and 11th grade students enrolled in public schools located in the central district of Afyonkarahisar during the 2023–2024 academic year. In the research, a search of domestic and foreign literature was conducted on the subjects of success and failure predicates and learning responsibility. Based on the findings obtained during the theoretical framework research process and the framework that was established, the necessary permissions were obtained, and the data collection tools used were the Demographic Information Form, the Success and Failure Attributions Scale (BBY) developed by Baltaoğlu, Sucuoğlu, and Yurdabakan (2015), and the Learning Responsibility Scale (ÖSO-II) developed by Yeşil (2013). The results of the normality analysis indicated that the data were suitable for parametric tests. Statistical data analysis was performed. The findings revealed that students most frequently attributed their academic success to teachers and the course itself, while they primarily attributed failure to their families. According to the gender variable, it was found that female students scored significantly higher than male students in both attributions and learning responsibility. In terms of grade level, 11th-grade students exhibited higher attribution scores specifically toward family-related failure. Regarding school type, students from Imam Hatip High Schools had higher levels of success attributions toward teachers and courses, as well as higher learning responsibility scores. The variable of "liking the school" created a significant difference in both success attributions and learning responsibility, whereas no significant difference was observed in relation to the family's socioeconomic status. Correlation analyses revealed a positive and significant relationship between learning responsibility and success attributions. According to multiple regression analysis, success attributions significantly predicted learning responsibility, while failure attributions did not have a significant effect. As a result, it was emphasized that positive attributions toward success increase students' sense of responsibility for learning, and that educators should develop supportive approaches by taking students' attributional styles into account. A Fuzzy BWM and MARCOS Integrated Framework with Heronian Function for Evaluating Cryptocurrency Exchanges: A Case Study of Türkiye
Crypto assets have become increasingly popular in recent years due to their many advantages, such as low transaction costs and investment opportunities. The performance of crypto exchanges is an essential factor in developing crypto assets. Therefore, it is necessary to take adequate measures regarding the reliability, speed, user-friendliness, regulation, and supervision of crypto exchanges. However, each measure to be taken creates extra costs for businesses. Studies are needed to determine the factors that most affect the performance of crypto exchanges. This study develops an integrated framework, i.e., fuzzy best–worst method with the Heronian function–the fuzzy measurement of alternatives and ranking according to compromise solution with the Heronian function (FBWM’H-FMARCOS’H), to evaluate cryptocurrency exchanges. In this framework, the fuzzy best–worst method (FBWM) is used to decide the criteria’s importance, fuzzy measurement of alternatives and ranking according to compromise solution (FMARCOS) is used to prioritize the alternatives, and the Heronian function is used to aggregate the results. Integrating a modified FBWM and FMARCOS with Heronian functions is particularly appealing for group decision-making under vagueness. Through case studies, some well-known cryptocurrency exchanges operating in Türkiye are assessed based on seven critical factors in the cryptocurrency exchange evaluation process. The main contribution of this study is generating new priority strategies to increase the performance of crypto exchanges with a novel decision-making methodology. “Perception of security,” “reputation,” and “commission rate” are found as the foremost factors in choosing an appropriate cryptocurrency exchange for investment. Further, the best score is achieved by Coinbase, followed by Binance. The solidity and flexibility of the methodology are also supported by sensitivity and comparative analyses. The findings may pave the way for investors to take appropriate actions without incurring high costs. © 2025 The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s)
The Relationship Between Social Workers’ Intercultural Sensitivity and Awareness of Diversity and Oppression
This study was conducted to investigate the level of intercultural sensitivity and awareness of diversity and oppression among 331 social workers who are members of the Turkish Association of Social Workers according to some variables and to determine the relationship between these constructs. The results show that the level of intercultural sensitivity and awareness of diversity and oppression among social workers differ according to the level of foreign language proficiency, the willingness to work with clients from different cultures, and the frequency of following the mass media of different countries. In addition, a moderate, positive, and significant relationship was found between social workers' intercultural sensitivity and their awareness of diversity and oppression
The effects of the demographic characteristics of pet owners on their animal ownership and care behaviors
In this study, the answers were obtained and evaluated from the questionnaires that were applied to the owners of cats and dogs in at least one province from each region, covering all geographical regions throughout T & uuml;rkiye. To do this, the original questions for this survey were prepared to evaluate the information about the marital status, gender, age range, education level, place of residence (province, district, town, etc.), economic income level, animal species, and animal care/ownership knowledge level of cat and dog owners. In the study, a face-to-face questionnaire was applied to a total of 1000 participants in the cities of Hatay, Mersin, Elaz & imath;& gbreve;, Erzurum, Kars, Van, Afyonkarahisar, Ayd & imath;n, Bal & imath;kesir, & Idot;zmir, U & scedil;ak, Gaziantep, & Scedil;anl & imath;urfa, Ankara, K & imath;r & imath;kkale, Konya, & Ccedil;orum, Bursa, & Idot;stanbul, Tekirda & gbreve;. A total of 962 (96.2%) participants completed the survey in its entirety, while 38 participants were excluded from the evaluation due to incomplete responses. According to the evaluation results of the data obtained; it has been revealed that different variables such as gender, income level, education level, and age of animal owners are highly effective on variables such as the specie, care and ownership knowledge level, and responsibility. The Mediating Role of Life Satisfaction in the Relationship between the Lifelong Learning Tendencies of Teachers and Their Attitudes toward Teaching
This study investigates whether life satisfaction serves as a mediator in the relationship between the lifelong learning tendencies of teachers and their professional attitudes toward teaching. The sample of the study comprised 361 teachers, and data were collected using instruments measuring tendencies toward lifelong learning, attitudes toward the profession of teaching, and overall life satisfaction. The data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS Version 27 and Process Macro 4.1 programs, employing independent-samples t-tests, Pearson’s correlation analyses, and mediation analysis models. There were significant positive relationships among lifelong learning, life satisfaction, and professional attitudes. Female teachers demonstrated a higher tendency toward lifelong learning than male teachers, consistent with previous research suggesting women are more inclined toward self-improvement. However, no significant gender-based differences were observed in life satisfaction, indicating that professional satisfaction may be shaped more by individual experiences than by gender. Furthermore, life satisfaction was identified as a mediator, suggesting that teachers with high lifelong learning tendencies and life satisfaction levels displayed more positive professional attitudes. These results underscored the importance of promoting lifelong learning and the well-being of teachers to enhance job satisfaction and commitment. Educational policymakers are encouraged to develop structured lifelong learning programs and wellness initiatives to support the professional growth of teachers. © 2025 The Authors. The micro determinants of information and communication technology usage: A pseudo-panel data analysis
Bu çalışma Türkiye için bilgi ve iletişim teknolojileri (BİT) kullanımını etkileyen olası faktörleri belirlemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu amaçla, 2016-2021 dönemine ilişkin altı yıllık bir mikro veri seti kullanılarak BİT yaygınlığı incelenmiştir. BİT kullanımı; internet, bilgisayar, cep telefonu ve akıllı TV kullanımı olmak üzere 4 kategoride ele alınmıştır. Yapay panel veri seti ile her bir BİT kategorisi için sabit etkiler modeli tahmin edilmiştir. Sonuçlar özellikle hane gelirinin BİT kullanımı üzerinde pozitif bir etkisinin bulunduğunu ve bilgisayar kullanımı açısından erkeklerin kadınlara göre dezavantajlı konumda olduğunu göstermiştir. Bulgulara göre hane büyüklüğü internet ve cep telefonu kullanımı üzerinde pozitif (sırasıyla 0,01 ve 0,003), bilgisayar ve akıllı TV kullanımı üzerinde ise negatif (sırasıyla -0,02 ve -0,007) bir etkiye sahiptir. Ulaşılan bulgular eğitim düzeyi arttıkça bilgisayar ve internet kullanımının arttığını ve nitelik gerektirmeyen işlerde çalışanlara göre profesyonellerin ve teknisyenlerin daha fazla bilgisayar kullandığını ortaya koymuştur. Son olarak çalışmanın bulguları BİT sayısındaki artışın hane internet kullanımını arttırdığını göstermiştir.This study aims to determine possible factors affecting the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in Turkey. For this purpose, the study examines the prevalence of ICT using a six-year micro data set covering the period from 2016 to 2021. ICT usage is considered in 4 categories such as internet, computer, mobile phone, and smart TV. We estimated a fixed effects model for each ICT category using the pseudo-panel dataset. The results particularly indicate that household income has a positive effect on ICT usage and that men are more disadvantaged compared to women in terms of computer usage. According to the results, household size has a positive effect on internet and mobile phone usage (0.01 and 0.003, respectively), while it has a negative effect on computer and smart TV usage (-0.02 and -0.007, respectively). The results indicate that computer and internet use increases as the level of education increases, and professionals and technicians use computers more than those in unskilled jobs. Finally, the results of the study show that the increase in the number of ICT has increased the use of the Internet in the household
Determining the Biogas Potential from Animal Manure in Canakkale and Creating an Electricity Generation Capacity Map
In this study, the biogas production potential from animal manure in Canakkale was determined and the electrical energy production capacity of the province was determined. According to the 2021 cattle, small ruminant, and poultry numbers received from the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, the cattle, small ruminant, and poultry manure amounts of all districts were calculated. Then, the amount of biogas that could be produced was calculated based on this data digital maps of the province were created by calculating the equivalent electrical energy production values of all districts with the biogas energy potentials that can be obtained. It has been calculated that a total of 119,715,927.80 m(3) of biogas can be obtained annually throughout the province. The total annual equivalent electrical energy of this potential is 562,664.86 MWh.
