PoznańAssembler Encoding represents Artificial Neural Network in a form of a simple program called Assembler Encoding Program. The task of the program is to create the so-called Network Definition Matrix which maintains all the information necessary to construct a neural network. To generate Assembler Encoding Programs and in consequence neural networks evolutionary techniques are used. The paper addresses the problem of creating modular neural networks in Assembler Encoding. The paper discusses different methods used in Assembler Encoding for this purpose. The methods are described and analyzed in terms of their effectiveness and frequency of use in Assembler Encoding Programs

PoznańWe study performance and scaling of the Berlin Quantum Chromodynamics Program (BQCD) on the SGI Altix 4700 at Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ). We employ different communication methods (MPI, MPI with two OpenMP threads per process, as well as the shmem library) and run the MPI version on the two types of nodes of that machine. For comparison with other machines we made performance measurements on an IBM p690 cluster and a Cray XT4

PoznańThe observations provided by oceanographic remote instruments are essential to the purposes of the operational oceanography that represents a constantly growing tool to monitor and predict the state of the marine resources. The management of a network of instruments deployed in the Mediterranean Sea is a complex task that may be greatly supported by the GRID technology. This paper presents the activity planned by the DORII EU-FP7 project concerning the floats and the glider. The aim of the project is to demonstrate the potentiality of the state-of-the-art eInfrastructure in the integration of the data driven control/interaction workflow that characterizes the instruments. We describe the communication between the elements of the workflow and the associated network topology

PoznańThe continuum-thermodynamical approach is proposed for describing mechanical and diffusive processes in bodies with microstructure. Different physical states of admixture particles in a local body structure are taken into account. Features of a stressed deformable state are discussed on an example of diffusive saturation of a layer in this case

PoznańThe Grid is an upcoming technology, providing access to an unimaginable amount of storage and computation resources. In the final stage of the Grid nearly every computer worldwide offers its free capacities to the Grid, which gives access to the resources as simple as getting electricity from a power outlet. As process data processing has very high resource demands, growing up rapidly from project to project, the Grid offers the capabilities to fulfil the requirements for upcoming process data processing projects. This paper evaluates the already existing remote control software packages to be used in process data processing projects, explains the demands for developing a high throughput data acquisition system with the introduced requirements, shows the advantages of using Grid technologies and proposes an architecture for developing such a system

PoznańOPATM-BFM is an off-line three-dimensional coupled eco-hydrodynamic simulation model used for biogeochemical and ecosystem-level predictions. This paper presents the first results of research activities devoted to the adaptation of the parallel OPATM-BFM application for an efficient usage in modern Grid-based e-Infrastructures. For the application performance on standard Grid architectures providing generic clusters of workstations, such results are important. We propose a message-passing analysis technique for communication-intensive parallel applications based on a preliminary application run analysis. This technique was successfully used for the OPATM-BFM application and allowed us to identify several optimization proposals for the current realization of the communication pattern. As the suggested improvements are quite generic, they can be potentially useful for other parallel scientific applications
