The mystery of priestly call is always a reading into a relationship in which God himself turns to man and expects from him a generous response. This encounter and dialogue, between God and man, is a giving birth to a community of faith which embraces people who are open to the reality of everyday calling and to the eternity of God’s destinies. The gift of the ministerial priesthood becomes a special tool where the proclamation of the word and the administration of the sacraments lead to an authentic and personal encounter with God. The priest, while answering the call to the service of God, becomes a loyal witness, ready to bring to the Church treasure in the “clay vessel” of his life. In the sacrament of Holy Orders, the priest is properly equipped to skillfully and effectively share the “gift and mystery” in which a personal encounter with God takes place and he assumes responsibility for the Church’s community. The experience of love and mercy comes from the Eucharist, which is the center of priestly life. This is the source which will satisfy priestly human desires and gives strength in crisis situations. The priest develops and strengthens on the path of love for the Church; on the path of imitating Christ’s Mother.

    No full text
Polish national philosophy is usually associated with the phenomena and concepts prevalent in the first half of the 19th century, i.e. in the Romantic era. This philosophy is traditionally linked with the main representatives of Romanticism, although not all Romantic thinkers belonged to this current – there were also philosophers whose views were closer to the ideas propagated later by positivists. This group includes Michał Wiszniewski (1797–1865), a professor at the Jagiellonian University, and a representative of the Krakow’s philosophical milieu, who is considered one of the main Polish prepositivists. He also put forward the idea of a national philosophy project, a concept rarely mentioned in the literature on the history of Polish philosophy. Wiszniewski did not write a separate work solely dedicated to this issue, but included thoughts related to the concept of national philosophy in his various works. Therefore, the aim of the article is to extract these thoughts from his works, systematise them, and develop a holistic and coherent picture of this concept. It is divided into two parts, and the purpose the first part is to present sources of Wiszniewski’s concept, i.e. the historical and philosophical background against which he developed his idea of national philosophy, and to discuss the factors which led him to postulate that it was necessary to create Polish national philosophy. The article indicates the features shared by Wiszniewski’s project and the Romantic ideas, which makes it impossible to call it wholly prepositivistc, as well as the features that differentiate these two, which indicates that national philosophy is not the same as Romantic philosophy. Również i on wystąpił z projektem filozofii narodowej.

The article is an attempt to answer the question about the relation between tradition and the development of theological cognition. The church from the first centuries was aware that allegiance to the council tenets exceeds a technical repetition of council`s formulas. It is clear that a belief in dogma assumes openness to both the past and the future. In the article two approaches to tradition are criticized: archeological and enthusiastic. The first one is linked with attempt to end the possibility of adding to a developing tradition further at any point in history; the second one is a result of conviction that currents form of doctrine and church are exactly what is wanted by God.In reference to K. Rahner, J. Ratzinger and W. Kasper the typological‑sacramental meaning of the tradition was proposed. It lets us – basing on the statements of the Vatican II – overcome a progressivist hermeneutic of rupture and go toward a hermeneutic of continuity and to the real reform of the church. In other words, it means that the process of reception and realization of Jesus` teaching and of the history of Christianity lives on and every epoch, every culture and every generation has a task to deepen and to better understand all revelation given to us by Christ. It must be done with a sensitivity to the historical, cultural and religious contexts of every period of history including the present

Objectivity as the Fruit of Authentic Subjectivity

One of the most important problems of philosophy is the “critical problem”, the problem of bridge between the human mind and the world, the external reality. It is the question of relations between the subject and the object. The interesting solution for this problem is given by Bernard Lonergan SJ (1904–1984), one of the most important Catholic English-speaking thinkers of the twentieth century. It would be difficult to point to someone who influenced the American Catholic philosophy and theology from the inside out more than he did: that is why he is called the “American Rahner „. He tries to connect the great tradition of Thomism and Augustinianism and, on the other hand, classical and modern philosophy, German idealism and English Empiricism. At the heart of his thinking is the theory of the human mind. With the help of transcendental and phenomenological methods, Lonergan demonstrates that the mental structure of man consists of five levels: the empirical level, the intellectual level, the rational level, the responsible level and the level of religious experience, which together create a cumulative process that leads to knowledge and decision. The most important point here is he act of understanding, the insight, which always has a creative moment, especially on the second and third levels, as an effect of the subject’s work. The correct understanding of this moment enables a mediation between the empirical, rational and idealistic understanding of the knowledge process. Correct action on all levels, faithfulness to the nature of the subject, leads to truth – according to Lonergan’s very apt maxim: objectivity is the fruit of the authentic subjectivity. One of the most important problems of philosophy is the “critical problem”, the problem of bridge between the human mind and the world, the external reality.
