    Temperance and prudence as virtues of an effective altruist

    The aim of the paper is to analyze the importance of two virtues: temperance and prudence for genesis of the Effective Altruism and practice of life of effective altruists, on the basis of philosophical works of two main representatives of the idea and movement: Peter Singer and William MacAskill. In the first part of the paper genesis of the movement and its basic assumptions are presented. Then, the paper focuses on the role of temperance and prudence in both theoretical refl ection on effective altruism and practice of life of people identifying themselves with the movement, with reference to Aristotle’s understanding of the virtues. It is argued, that these virtues are crucial in the practice of life of an effective altruist.     The text contains examples of the influence of parents on the advancement in the music education of their children. It analyzes statistics of research studies concerning the dependency between parental influence and careers of mature musicians. It deals with the influence of the family on the basic musical development of each child from the beginning of his life and human musical development. The article draws attention to anomalies in upbringing.     O możliwym, lecz nie zaistniałym sporze – problem ludzkiej wolności w ujęciu Józefa Tischnera  i Leszka Kołakowskiego

    In the 1970s, a very interesting debate took place between Tischner and the Thomist philosophers. In the early 1980s, Tischner started a dispute with Marxism. According to the author of the article, there were many indications that at the end of the 1990s he would fight another intellectual war against liberalism, and in particular with its way of viewing human freedom. For many reasons, this dispute did not happen. The author of the article believes that Leszek Kołakowski could have been the main adversary in this dispute.The majority of contemporary intellectuals would agree that freedom is fundamental to human existence. This view was shared by both Leszek Kołakowski and Józef Tischner, therefore the dispute would concern the nature of internal freedom rather than the external one. Either of the adversaries saw it, in a different way. Kołakowski was close to the liberal approach to freedom. In turn, Tischner’s view of freedom was closer to the way St. Augustine had understood it. In this text, the author introduces both these concepts of freedom. He also believes that an attempt to measure the validity of the arguments of both adversaries could be made in relation to the essence of man.W latach 70. między Józefem Tischnerem a tomistami toczyła się bardzo ciekawa debata. Na początku lat 80. wszedł on w spór z marksizmem. Zdaniem autora artykułu w końcówce lat 90. wiele zapowiadało, że kolejną intelektualną wojnę stoczy on z liberalizmem, a w szczególności z jego sposobem rozumienia ludzkiej wolności. Z wielu powodów do tego sporu nie doszło. Autor artykułu uważa, że głównym adwersarzem w tym sporze mógłby być Leszek Kołakowski.Prawie wszyscy współcześni intelektualiści uważają, że wolność jest czymś fundamentalnym dla ludzkiego istnienia. Pogląd ten podzielali i Leszek Kołakowski, i Józef Tischner. Dlatego też spór ten dotyczyłby natury wolności wewnętrznej, a nie zewnętrznej. Każdy z adwersarzy inaczej rozumiał to, czym ona jest. Kołakowskiemu bliskie było liberalne ujęcie wolności. Z kolei Tischnerowskie rozumienie wolności dryfowało ku sposobowi, w jaki rozumiał je Augustyn. W tym tekście autor przybliża oba te rozumienia wolności. Uważa też, że próba zmierzenia siły argumentów obu adwersarzy mogłaby się dokonać w odniesieniu do istoty człowieka.

    In Parousia, Jesus Christ is undoubtedly the central figure. However, since Parousia is the revelation of the glory of the entire Trinity, it is worth asking about the role of the remaining Divine Persons in this event. In the article, the main focus will be on the role of the Holy Spirit and its interpretation in the eschatology of Sergius Bulgakov. According to the Russian theologian, Parousia is a revelation not only of Christ’s glory, but also of the hypostatic Glory of God, i.e. the Holy Spirit, and in this way it’s the final realization of Pentecost.W paruzji centralną postacią jest niewątpliwie Jezus Chrystus. Skoro jednak paruzja jest objawieniem się chwały całej Trójcy, to warto zadać sobie pytanie o rolę pozostałych Osób Boskich w tym wydarzeniu. W tym artykule główna uwaga zostanie poświęcona roli Ducha Świętego i jej interpretacji w eschatologii Sergiusza Bułgakowa. Według rosyjskiego teologa, paruzja jest objawieniem nie tylko chwały Chrystusa, ale także hipostatycznej Chwały Boga, czyli Ducha Świętego, a w ten sposób ostateczną realizacją Pięćdziesiątnicy

    A hermit life is a significant honour for the Church. Currently, we can notice an increased interest in this individual form of consecrated life. Women and men go to modern deserts to stay in God’s presence and unite their lives with the Crucified Christ. Their identity have redefined after the Second Vatican Council in canon 603 of the Code of Canon Law, which singles out the theological (retreat from the world, silence of seclusion, ardent prayer, penance) and legal (individual life form, public profession of three evangelical councils and life in accordance with the personal statute) elements of hermit identities.Życie pustelnicze jest ogromnym darem dla Kościoła. Obecnie można zauważyć zwiększone zainteresowanie tą indywidualną formą życia konsekrowanego. Kobiety i mężczyźni udają się na współczesne pustynie, aby trwać w Bożej obecności i złączyć swoje życie z Ukrzyżowanym Chrystusem. Ich tożsamość na nowo została wytyczona po Soborze Watykańskim II w kan. 603 Kodeksu prawa kanonicznego.     The purpose of this article is to present the personal status of the Małopolska Province of the Society of Jesus in the years 1926–1939. It presents the number of monks incardinated in the province, residing in its territory and abroad, as well as the staffing of individual religious houses. The next issues, closely related to the topic of the article, are the number of candidates entering the order, the number of people resigning from the order, and mortality.     The tomb of one of the greatest Silesian Piasts has not survived to our times. The sarcophagus, a work of sepulchral art, made shortly after the ruler’s death, is now empty at the National Museum in Wrocław. The ruler’s remains are considered to be lost. Also, no items from his grave have survived. The purpose of this article is to recall the history of the prince’s tomb, with particular emphasis on those historical sources which constitute the last trace of the lost remains of the prince known today. We are talking about the protocol of the last opening of the sarcophagus, which took place on January 6, 1944, and the photographic documentation of the chest with the remains of Henry IV Probus, made soon afterwards.The tomb of one of the greatest Silesian Piasts has not survived to our times.     The scientific article considered charitable activities in the field of education of the duchess Ludovika Karolina of the Radziwill family on the territory of Belarus in the last third of the XVII century. A number of main directions of its financial assistance were noted: support for schools, additional payments to teachers, as well as the allocation of scholarships in European educational institutions. In addition, the efforts of the Princess to increase the number of founders among the German monarchs were noted. A number of the materials provided indicate that it monitored the quality of the educational process organization, made efforts to improve it and bring it closer to the Western European model of pedagogy. Description of the education of the book itself.
