Letter to Mary Spilman. Found on page 30, Scrapbook 2.Dear Miss Spilman,
The Record of April 25th caught up with me while our unit was reaching
high atop one of these scenic Austrian Alps. I am at present southwest of
Innsbruck, Austria about twelve miles north of the Italian [frontier]. The
only change in address as [indicated] above is my new APO of 758. Had quite
a journey with the 7th Army serves Souther Germany and on into Austria.
I certainly appreciate the receipt of our college newspaper. Now that
I have Mr. R[?] address I shall drop him a line. I was most shocked to
read of the death of Mr. Snider.
the big question of the day around here is what is going to come next
now that Germany has capitulated. Naturally we all hope to love at least
a few days at home before going back to the business at hand.
Please convey my best wishes to all the faculty and students of the
college and academy.
Sincerly yours,
Clarance S. Mead
