Maquette, snake gnomon, side view, unfinished model
Photograph of a maquette (sculptural model) for the gnomon (the part of the sundial that casts a shadow) of the sundial on the south side of the Singing Tower. The gnomon is shaped like a snake, snakes are an ancient symbol of time. Discoloration around entire photograph. Remnants of photo corner adhesive have been removed. Handwritten in red ink, "unfinished model." Duplicate copy without handwritten note is available

Two workers hold the keystone, aka capstone, which was placed in the center of the cathedral ceiling of the interior first level of the Singing Tower (today called the Founder's Room) on November 16, 1928.
