Alley Cat Cafe Outdoor Dining Area
No full textDiners enjoying their meals in the outdoor garden restaurant, the Ally Cat Cafe. The cafe was located at 1558 4th St in Sarasota. It was opened in 1993 by Joan Condon and earned a reputation for being one of the most romantic restaurants in the area. Condon sold the restaurant to Stephen Acker, and his wife Meredith, briefly in the late 90s before resuming ownership in 2000. Condon also operate a bar, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. She shut down both bar and restaurant in 2003
Restoring Terracotta Pieces for Ca'd'Zan
No full textTanamarie Bileth works on restoring details in the terracotta pieces from Ca'd'Zan. In 1999, the company working on the restoration, Kvaerner Construction of Tampa, won the "Craftsman of the Year Award" from the American Institute of Architects Florida Chapter, for their work on the building's stained glass windows and terra cotta doors and tiles. Restoration work began in 1997. Ca'd'Zan, also known as the John Ringling Mansion, is a Mediterranean revival home built in 1926 by John and Mable Ringling to serve as their winter residence. The Ringlings continued to visit the home until their deaths. The home was uninhabited from 1936 to 1946, but then was opened to the public as part of the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art estate

It featured a larger family-style table at the center with several smaller tables spread throughout the room and was capable of seating 22 guests at a time. Located at 5626 Gulf Dr. in Holmes Beach, the 8-room inn was opened by Jo and Frank Davis in 1989. It was named after Frank Davis's father, Harrington. The building was built in 1925 and served as a family mansion. In 2020, the Davis family closed Harrington House as a bed and breakfast and converted it back to a personal residence
