Charles Hollenbach Mansion in 1900
Once the grandest house in Bloomingdale, this summer home of Charles Hollenbach, a sausage maker from Chicago, stood on the corner of Lake Street and First Avenue. The home was built in 1900. Hollenback sold the mansion in 1918. It was occupied until the 1950s, then stood vacant for 20 years. It was then leased as an antique shop in the 1970s; eventually the home was set on fire by vandals and was razed in September of 1980
