Alumni Welcome Connie Ledoux Book, Lauren Salig (2018)
This video, titled Elon Alum, Lauren Salig, Welcomed Connie Ledoux Book, as the 9th President of Elon University as of March 1, 2018. Salig stated, “Hi, I am Lauren Salig, Class of 2017, and I am excited to help welcome Dr. Book as Elon’s 9th President today. Under Dr. Book, I am hoping that Elon furthers its commitment to community engagement, but on a global level, continues the study aboard and fellowship programs and all that great stuff, and on a local level, within Alamance County. So congratulations Dr. Book and good luck.” Salig, majored in psychology and Spanish, spent a year teaching English in Argentina with support from a 2016-2017 Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship
Commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, and Global Engagement (2018)
This video, titled Commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, and Global Engagement, occurred in Snow Family Grand Atrium inside Dwight C. Schar Hall, School of Communications, with President Connie Ledoux Book and the Student Government Association (SGA) President Kenneth Brown in the spring of 2018. Both President Book and Brown introduced themselves with their titles. “I am Connie Ledoux Book, President of Elon University,” stated Book. “And I am Kenneth Brown, President of Elon’s Student Government Association,” stated Brown. Book continued, “At Elon, we know living and working in the 21st Century demands global competences, including an ability to appreciate and navigate vast array of language, culture, and points of view. Elon University’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and global engagement is an important aspect of our mission.” Brown stated, “Elon’s mission is to foster respect for human differences and to prepare students to be global citizens. And to form leaders motivated by concern for the common good. The course that you are about to take is one way we work to fulfill that mission.” Book stated, “Each of us directly impacts the climate on campus. And each of us is responsible for creating a climate that reflects our shared values of inclusion and global citizenship.” Brown said, “This course is only a start, but we hope you will use it as a building block as a dialogue, conversation, and engaging.” Book continued, “Thank you for your time and attention. As we begin a conversation that will continue across campus throughout your time at Elon.
Fred Young Retirement Tribute Interview with Gail Drew (1998)
This video, titled Gail Drew Interview on J. Fred Young’s Presidency, occurred in 1998 by Christopher Waters, Class of 1994. Waters asked Drew questions regarding her view as an Elon Board of Trustee on Young’s accomplishments and his retirement. Drew spoke of Young’s organization, elegance, people’s strengths, enthusiasm, change, fundraising, Elon Vision, academics, energy, and retirement. 00:14:54 The video loses the color (Chroma). Drew spoke of Phyllis Young and her elegance and the elegant tone that the couple has set at Elon. A few of Young’s accomplishments (per Drew) included: Fonville Fountain, Koury Center, Moseley Center, Model Center (in 2018- The Center for the Arts), board of trustees, senior staff, faculty, student body, and the community feeling at Elon College.
Top 10 Under 10 Awards Ceremony: Daniel Ross Brown (2018)
This video, titled Top 10 Under 10: Daniel Ross Brown, was recognized for achieving high levels of success, continuously working to elevate their communities, and a loyal alumni role model. This recognition was presented by The Office of Alumni Engagement and the Young Alumni Council. Brown, Class of 2009, is a Biology instructor, North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. A biology graduate, Brown received the UNC SPIRE Postdoctoral Fellowship, which has allowed him to continue his research and gain mentorship experience. In addition to teaching at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, he is researching genetic and molecular mechanisms for addressing human cardiac development
Top 10 Under 10 Awards Ceremony: Stephanie Marken (2018)
This video, titled Top 10 Under 10: Stephanie Robinson, was recognized for achieving high levels of success, continuously working to elevate her community, and a loyal alumni role model. The recognition was presented by The Office of Alumni Engagement and the Young Alumni Council. Robinson, Class of 2011, is an Associate health post-doctoral fellow at the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. Prior to that, Robinson was a neurology research coordinator at the Washington D.C. VA Medical Center. She has research funded by the National Institute of Aging and the Boston Royal Center for Active Lifestyle Interventions. Robinson is also a Suzanne Feld Zalk Memorial Endowed Fellow.

Alumni Stories: Shakori Fletcher, Los Angeles (2017)
This video, titled Shakori Fletcher, Class of 2016, LA Story, was produced in March of 2017 for University Communications. The video piece highlighted Fletcher as a business lingual assistant in the Motion Picture Group at Lionsgate Entertainment & Films in San Monica, California. Fletcher spoke of how her Elon education and experience prepared her to follow her dreams in media and film. There was b-roll of Fletcher on the beach, talking with colleagues, and driving on Highway 101.
Phi Kappa Phi Induction Ceremony (2018)
This video, titled Phi Kappa Phi Induction, occurred in April of 2018. The Phi Kappa Phi candidates include: juniors who have completed 72 credit hours and rank in the top 7.5% of their class, seniors who have completed 90 credit hours, and rank in the top 10% of their class, graduate students who have completed 18 graduate hours and rank in the top 10% of their class, as well as faculty, professional staff, and alumni who achieve scholarly distinction. During the ceremony Steven House, April Post, L.D. Russell, Donna Van Bodegraven, Shereen Elgamal, and Rhonda Beltran spoke at the podium. Phi Kappa Phi was founded in 1897 at the University of Maine. Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest and largest academic honor society whose mission is “to recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others.” Some names included: James Robert Bobby Surry, Janet (Jan) Fuller, Francis Masuka, Carolyn DeFrancesco, Jeff Stein, and Nick Cook.
