    "Pocahantas" the fabricated metal sculpture crafted by John Chaffee. Originally placed in the court between the Forum and the Library, the piece was dedicated September 13, 1978 in a ceremony describing the history of its meaning. Pocahantas is a very fine grade of coal found in West Virginia that one could purchase at the time to burn in the fireplace. Chaffee's recollections of childhhood activities in West Virginia served as long time inspriations for his contruction of the piece. Chaffee was instrumental in aquiring funds and equipment from the Bryan Endowment Fund and the American Welding Society to create the sculpture
