Airease: Smart Exhaust Fan with Predictive Control
This thesis presents the design and implementation of a machine learning (ML)-based bathroom humidity control system aimed at energy efficiency and preventing mold growth with causes structural damage. Conventional bathroom ventilation systems rely on manual controls or fixed humidity thresholds, which often result in excessive energy use or insufficient ventilation. The developed system integrates an ESP32 microcontroller with temperature, water flow, and humidity sensors to monitor environmental conditions in real time. A lightweight ML model, trained using TinyML techniques, is deployed on the ESP32 to forecast short-term humidity levels based on live sensor data. Using the predicted humidity trends, the system proactively activates an exhaust fan via a relay module before humidity exceeds critical levels, thereby ensuring timely ventilation.Experimental evaluation demonstrates that the system effectively predicts humidity surges and responds with optimized fan control, offering a cost-efficient, scalable, and privacy-preserving solution for smart home ventilation
Comparison of cost efficiency among electricity distribution companies in Northern Europe : A panel data stochastic frontier approach
Electricity distribution system operators (DSOs) in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland, along with numerous other nations, operate as local natural monopolies. Regulatory bodies in each of these five countries are responsible for overseeing and regulating the local markets to offset this inherent market failure. Despite the many similarities in regulation between countries, cross-country studies on DSO performance are a rarity in the literature. This study addresses this gap by employing a panel data stochastic frontier analysis (SFA) to examine differences in cost efficiency levels between the aforementioned five countries. This includes the short-term adjustable time-varying efficiency, often called the managerial efficiency, endogenous to each DSO and the short-term unadjustable time-invariant efficiency, often called the organizational efficiency, exogenous to each DSO. The results of the analysis indicate vast differences in operational environments both within and between countries. When controlled for, efficiency distributions across countries mostly appear to be similar, indicating no significant difference in performance capabilities between DSOs across the countries examined
Drum design development
This project focuses on designing a cable drum for the company NKT HV Cables AB. NKT is a world leader in the cable industry, and one of their facilities, located in Karlskrona, is among the largest high-voltage cable production plants in the world. The manufacturing, storage, and delivery of cables require cable drums. Currently, these are produced in other European countries, which results in high transportation costs and unnecessary environmental impact. The goal of the project was therefore to develop a design for a drum of the M45 model, which means it has a diameter of 4.5 meters. The result should be able to be manufacturable locally around Karlskrona without the need for specialized tools. Additionally, the drum must be able to carry a load of 30 tons and weigh less than 4.5 tons. During the course of the project, several different concepts and prototypes were developed, many of which were abandoned as they did not meet all the requirements. Once a concept that fulfilled all the requirements was created, its durability was tested through simulations under various scenarios and load cases

Towards Human-Like Behavior Generation by Applying Markov Chain Monte Carlo in Realization of Agential Realism
As the bridge between intelligence and action, decision-making reflects how humans adaptively interact with complex world. Thus, modeling decision-making process have become a key component for AI agents to handle dynamic environment. In our previous work, human decision-making process was modeled on a Decision Map, in which human decision strategies (in terms of individual or a group) are characterized by a decision distribution. In this paper, we apply the personal Decision Map with Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithm to generate action sequences as a stochastic process. Based on the generated sequence, a Markovian transition matrix is estimated as a dynamic model for artificial agents to generate behaviors. The proposed method is inspired by the theory of agential realism, where the phenomenon of lightning is illustrated and manifested that its path is not fully random, but indeterminate caused by electromagnetic factors in the environment. In this sense, the generation of action sequence is considered as a lightning path, and different Markovian transition matrices can configure the dynamic indeterminacy for generating agent behaviors.
Relationsdimensioner i leverantörsrelationer : I kombination och under uppskalning
In business-to-business (B2B) markets, managing supplier relationships effectively is criticalfor reducing uncertainty and achieving operational efficiency. Relational dimensions –mechanisms such as contracts, information sharing, operational links, and mutual adaptations– are central to strengthening these relationships. While prior research has examined individualrelational dimensions, limited attention has been given to how combinations of the relationaldimensions are used to handle risk, particularly during scale-up phases. This study aims to identify uncertainties in supplier relationships and examine how differentrelational dimensions are combined to reduce risk and support effective scaling. It also exploreswhich relational dimensions become especially critical during scale-up processes. The research is based on a qualitative case study using semi-structured interviews with strategicpurchasers and suppliers. The theoretical framework is grounded in transaction cost economicsand the resource-based view, enabling deeper understanding of relational mechanisms insupplier strategies. Findings show that companies strategically use combinations of relational dimensionsdepending on relationship maturity, perceived risk, and the scale-up stage. Legal contractsdominate early-stage relationships, while information sharing and operational integration areemphasized in mature relationships during scaling. The strategic combination of relationaldimensions enhances trust, reduces uncertainty, and increases supply chain adaptability. Relational dimensions are not used in isolation but are dynamically combined to align withshifting business needs. A balanced and contextual use of governance and control mechanismsfosters more resilient, efficient, and scalable supplier relationships under certain conditions.
Recommendation System of Client-Requested Projects in the Swedish Consultancy Market with LLMs
This article presents the recommendation system of Personas, a microservice-based platform designed to assist Human Resources (HR) teams in streamlining the recommendation and presentation of candidates to clients based on posted project descriptions. Personas offers functionalities for recommendation, automatic generation of tailored curricula and motivation letters, and conversational support through client- and consultant-facing chatbots. At its core, the recommendation system suggests relevant projects posted by clients to each candidate on a daily basis. It leverages both structured and unstructured textual data, including web-scraped content, user-uploaded documents, curated profiles, and texts generated by Large Language Models (LLMs). All documents are embedded into a shared semantic vector space, enabling fast similarity computations and facilitating Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) workflows. The recommendation pipeline consists of a two-stage process. First, lightweight pre-selection models apply filters and semantic similarity metrics to narrow down the pool of potential assignments. Then, in-depth analyses using LLMs provide refined compatibility assessments. Notably, the LLM-based evaluations serve not only to improve ranking precision, but also as high-quality proxy labels for evaluating and improving pre-selection models. This paper describes each stage of the pipeline-document collection, structuring, curation, pre-selection, and LLM-based analysis-and presents quantitative results demonstrating the system's effectiveness on a large-scale dataset
