No full textThe long term cooperation between Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV)and CASPUR is summarized. From the beginning, characterized by a limited number ofresearchers involved in joint activities, to nowadays, when an ever increasing amountof computing time is requested and significant human resources dedicated to differentfields of research within the Institute ask for specialized support from CASPUR. In theend, the article will sketch out a reasonable forecast of the cooperation, emphasizingthe need for common goals, shared international research (EU projects) and High PerformanceComputing oriented training of researchers

This short contribution points to some elements that need attention when a cost-benefit analysis is undertaken before the choice of open source applications for libraries or e-publishing services.Sempre maggiore interesse destano in tutti i settori, anche in Italia, le possibili applicazioni informatiche open source, in alternativa ai software proprietari. È importante, dunque, far chiarezza per evitare errori che possono seriamente compromettere le funzionalità del servizio e generare spese impreviste. DSpace Hibernate-Prototype
Get PDFThis article shows the reengineering of the persistence tier of the open source software DSpace, to introduce a lower coupling in its software layers. The prototype was made using design patterns and standards from J2EE world: Domain Store, Session Façade, Application Service, JPA were also introduced for a technological upgrade of the platform. The research and development activity aimed at this goal was accomplished in a stage offered by CILEA to achieve a degree in Computer Science Engineering, an opportunity that CILEA offers on several innovative ICT themes, with the support of its experts.In questo articolo viene illustrata la reingegnerizzazione dello strato di persistenza del software open source DSpace, allo scopo di introdurre un maggiore disaccoppiamento dei layer software. Il prototipo è stato realizzato sfruttando design patterns e standard propri del mondo J2EE: Domain Store, Session Façade, Application Service, JPA e si propone quindi anche come un aggiornamento tecnologico della piattaforma. L'attività di ricerca e sviluppo finalizzata a questo obiettivo è stata condotta nell'ambito di uno stage offerto dal CILEA per il conseguimento della laurea magistrale in Ingegneria Informatica, opportunità che CILEA offre per diverse tematiche ICT all'avanguardia e sotto la supervisione dei propri esperti

The author presents the main characteristics of the web publication model of finding aids, based on the XML/EAD application schema, and the possible links with the main Italian National Archival Information Systems (SIUSA and SIAS). The contribute exposes the road map of the .DOC project after its first prototypal version.L’articolo si sofferma sui presupposti e sulle scelte di fondo operate nella costruzione del Polo Informativo degli archivi umbri ed illustra le caratteristiche essenziali del modello di restituzione degli inventari che si è confrontato con il formato applicativo XML/EAD. Dopo aver esaminato i rapporti del progetto umbro con i principali sistemi informativi (SIUSA e SIAS) vengono delineate le linee di sviluppo del progetto

Get PDFIn which way is it possible to integrate numerous finding aids made by different descriptive models without forgetting their specificity? The .DOC project analyses this matter and describes a possible solution with the use of EAD standard. The result is a double reflection: the first one about the appropriateness of the current software for the archival description really supporting the fulfilment of complete archival tools; the second one is about the ways, maybe too free, to use the metaphor of the archival tree by archivists.Come rendere interrogabili in maniera integrata numerosi strumenti di corredo archivistici, realizzati a partire da modelli descrittivi diversi, senza appiattirne le specificità? Il progetto umbro .DOC si confronta con questa problematica, e suggerisce una possibile soluzione mediante l’utilizzo dello standard EAD. Ne risulta una duplice riflessione, sulla adeguatezza degli attuali software per la descrizione archivistica a supportare effettivamente la realizzazione di strumenti archivistici compiuti, e sulle modalità forse troppo libere di utilizzo della metafora dell’albero da parte degli archivisti
