The Existence of Notaries in the Drafting of Peace Deeds as A Dispute Resolution Process: Case Study in East Lombok, Indonesia
This study aims to determine the authority of a notary in making a peace deed and the legal force of the peace deed made by the notary. The research method used is normative and empirical legal research with a statutory, conceptual, and sociological approach. The types of data used are secondary data and primary data. Secondary data is library data sourced from primary, secondary and tertiary legal materials. Primary data is field data sourced from interviews regarding the existence of a peace deed. The conclusion obtained from the research conducted is that a Notary has the legal authority to make a peace deed because a peace deed is one form of authentic deed where the position of a notary is a state official who has the authority to make authentic deeds as regulated in Article 2 § 1 of Law No 2 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law No 30 of 2004 concerning the Position of Notary. However, the law does not specifically regulate the making of peace deeds by notaries; notaries can make their peace deeds because peace deeds are authentic
Policy Analysis of the Family Hope Program (Program Keluarga Harapan) from a Long-Term Investment Perspective for the Indonesian Government
Indonesia faces a significant challenge in addressing poverty, with over 26 million low-income families as of 2023. Poverty impedes economic progress and threatens social stability and the quality of life for many. The Family Hope Program (Program Keluarga Harapan/PKH), launched in 2007, provides cash transfers to improve access to essential services like education, health, and food security, showing positive impacts such as increased school attendance and reduced financial burdens. However, issues remain in the program's implementation, including inefficient data management and a lack of transparency, leading to misdirected assistance and limited reach. This paper explores E-Monitor: A Digital-Based Reporting Scheme for PKH Beneficiaries as a policy recommendation to enhance the PKH. E-Monitor aims to digitise beneficiary registration, cash transfer distribution, and monitoring, thereby increasing transparency, efficiency, and accessibility. Using an exploratory research design and investment analysis theory, this study evaluates E-Monitor's potential to improve the program's effectiveness and data management.Additionally, this policy aligns with Indonesia's digital transformation agenda, promoting equitable access and streamlined administrative processes. Implementation considerations include pilot testing, community engagement, and data security. By addressing the PKH's existing limitations, E-Monitor represents a strategic long-term investment for poverty alleviation and sustainable development in Indonesia. This recommendation aims to inform policymakers of the benefits of digitalisation in social assistance programs, ultimately contributing to improved service delivery and poverty reduction outcomes

This study investigates the effectiveness of classroom activities in enhancing students' writing skills at Oludaye Grammar School, Oba Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria. The research focuses on identifying the current writing instructional practices, the challenges students face, and the impact of specific classroom activities on students' writing proficiency. Using a mixed-method approach, the study gathered data through questionnaires, classroom observations, and document analysis of students' written compositions. Twenty Senior Secondary One (SS1) students participated in the study, representing a cross-section of the student body. The findings reveal that essay writing is the most frequently practised and effective classroom activity, with 85% of the students favouring it as a means to improve their writing skills. However, challenges such as limited vocabulary, punctuation errors, and difficulties with grammar and self-reflection persist. Teacher’s feedback emerged as a critical factor, with 75% of the students indicating it was highly beneficial in enhancing their writing abilities. The study concludes that while classroom activities like essay writing significantly contribute to the development of writing skills, additional focus is required on vocabulary building, grammar instruction, and self-assessment techniques. Recommendations include increasing the time allocated for writing practice, simplifying vocabulary instruction, and incorporating more collaborative writing activities to foster peer feedback and engagement. These measures aim to further improve students' writing proficiency and better prepare them for academic and professional success
An Extended Software Defect Prediction Framework for Improving Accuracy
Ensuring the quality and reliability of software systems is a critical challenge, mainly due to the difficulty in accurately predicting software defects. Traditional models often struggle with maintaining high accuracy across diverse datasets and classifiers. This study addresses this challenge by exploring the enhancement of defect prediction accuracy by integrating L2 regularisation with feature selection and dataset resampling techniques, forming the With Feature Selection and Regularization (WFS+RG) model. The evaluation was conducted using five classifiers – Multilayer Perceptron, Bayes Net, Lazy IBK, J48, and Logistic Regression – applied to two datasets, PC1 and JM1, within the Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis (WEKA). The results indicate that the WFS+RG model consistently outperforms the traditional model With Feature Selection WFS only across most classifiers. Specifically, on the PC1 dataset, Lazy IBK achieved an accuracy of 97.29%, J48 reached 95.67%, and Multilayer Perceptron obtained 94.40%. Bayes Net and Logistic Regression also showed strong performances with 91.25 and 93.86% accuracy, respectively. On the JM1 dataset, Lazy IBK demonstrated significant improvement with an accuracy of 90.21%, while J48 and Multilayer Perceptron achieved 84.92 and 81.02%, respectively. Bayes Net and Logistic Regression reported 76.93 and 81.10% accuracy, respectively. However, the improvements are not uniform across all classifiers, with some showing minimal change. Statistical analysis conducted via Minitab confirms the robustness and significance of the WFS+RG model's impact, underscoring its potential as a more practical approach in software defect prediction tasks
Optimisation of Base Oil Regeneration Using Response Surface Methodology From Spent Lubricating Oil Through Binary Solvent Extraction Process
Spent lubricating oil (SLO) is a high-pollutant material that requires responsible management. It may cause adverse effects to the environment when dumped into the ground or wastewater streams, resulting in soil and groundwater contamination. This research investigates the regeneration of spent lubricating oil using a binary solvent (hexane and methyl ethyl ketone). The laboratory experiment was based on a central composite design with two levels using response surface methodology. The SLO physicochemical properties gave the following undesired characteristics: low flash point (159oC), high specific gravity (0.9887), high kinematic viscosity at 40oC and 100oC (37.7 cSt and 11.4 cSt), high total acid number (3.9 mg KOH/g) and high colour index (11.0). The experimental run with a solvent-to-oil ratio of 3.99, mixing time of 30 min and agitation speed of 599 rpm was chosen as the optimum combination using statistical analysis. The optimum run yielded 77.20%, ash content 0.29%, and sludge removal percentage 11.25%. The adsorption process using kaolin achieved an 88.88% reduction in zinc ions concentration, while a 46.32% reduction was achieved for iron ions. However, a slight reduction in percentage yield (2.77%) was observed after the adsorption process. The regeneration process gave a yield of 75.06%. Physicochemical parameters of regenerated base oil; specific gravity (0.8699), kinematic viscosity at 40oC and 100oC (26.1 cSt and 7.3 cSt), flash point (192oC) conformed to ASTM standards while total acid number (0.96 mg KOH/g) and colour index (6) were slightly above the required values. The results showed that regenerated base oil has a comparable quality to virgin base oil (SN 150), indicating the process's effectiveness and the possibility of utilising the oil safely

The Development of the Kolb Learning Style Inventory (KLSI): Evolution, Validity, Flexibility and Its Application in Education
The Kolb Learning Style Inventory (KLSI) has progressed through various revisions to refine its validity, reliability, and adaptability as a tool for identifying individual learning styles based on Kolb's Experiential Learning Theory. This study reviews the development of KLSI from its initial version to the latest KLSI 4.0, examining major modifications and their impact on educational applications. Each version addressed previous critiques by enhancing psychometric properties and incorporating features such as adaptive learning flexibility and expanded normative data, making KLSI more relevant across diverse educational contexts. Key findings indicate that while these advancements support more personalised and flexible instructional strategies, certain limitations remain, particularly in capturing learning preferences' dynamic and culturally influenced nature. This study contributes to a comprehensive understanding of KLSI's evolution and its implications for promoting learner-centred education. It highlights future directions for improving its applicability in globalised and diverse learning environments
Understanding COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy in Nigeria Through University Community Lens
It is widely acknowledged that vaccination represents one of the greatest advances in public health in human history. Nonetheless, vaccine rejection or hesitancy is a public health issue that has continuously thwarted coordinated attempts by health officials to stop the spread of infectious diseases like the Coronavirus in Nigeria. It is critical to assess public perception, which will encourage vaccine acceptance through focused initiatives. Therefore, this study assesses vaccination reluctance among the Benue State University student community. A cross-sectional descriptive design was used in the study. A questionnaire was distributed to 150 participants, selected through the convenience sample technique. SPSS was used to enter and analyse the data. Eighty-seven percent of the respondents were between their first and third years, and the majority (63%) were over 18-30. Only 68% of the respondents thought the virus was real.Additionally, none of the students had a favourable disposition towards the vaccination. The respondents cited fear of vaccine side effects (46.2%), distrust of the government (33.9%), vaccine efficacy (12.5%), and a variety of mystical possibilities (7.4%) as the major causative factors behind their hesitation to receive the vaccination. Available data show a serious communication breakdown between the respondents and the regional health authority. To improve public acceptance of the COVID-19 vaccine, broad and focused public health promotion initiatives are needed to alleviate some public concerns
