The excavation revealed a selection of archaeological remains spanning the medieval and post-medieval periods, some of which provide evidence for changing agricultural farming practices

    This collection consists of images, text, spreadsheets and site record data from an archaeological evaluation by trial trenching by MAP Archaeological Practice Ltd. The work occurred at land South of Barnsley Road, West Melton, South Yorkshire from July to August 2022. The evaluation, which consisted of twenty-three trenches, revealed a total of twelve archaeological features. Results had showed that trackway diches likely formed the earliest phase of this site followed by the addition of at least one appending enclosure. Dates derived from optically stimulated luminescence samples suggest the establishment of the trackway likely took place during the Bronze Age, with the addition of appending enclosures occurring during the late Iron Age and Romano-British period

The farmhouse was a Grade II listed building and was subject to a Heritage Agreement between HS2 Ltd, North Warwickshire District Council and Historic England which included the requirement for a programme of historic building recording
