No full textThis collection consists of images and GIS data from an archaeological evaluation by Cotswold Archaeology. Work occurred on land at Abbots Lodge, The Street, Drinkstone, Suffolk, in May 2023. Medieval activity was represented by two ditches identified in Trench 1. The finds assemblage comprised eighteen pottery sherds of 12th to the 14th century date. The remaining features were undated. An iron pitchfork recovered from the subsoil was interpreted as modern, probably 20th century date

No full textThis digital archive comprises images, geophysics, reports, spreadsheets, CAD, GIS and site record data from a geophysical survey and trial trenching at Burton Green and Coleshill Manor, Warwickshire, 2018 - 2023. The trial trenching at Burton Green revealed that the majority of the trenches were archaeologically negative, with only four (trenches 995, 997, 9915 and 9921) identifying archaeological remains. The trial trenching at Coleshill Manor revealed that a majority of the trenches were archaeologically negative, with only five (trenches 5, 6, 7, 11 and 12) identifying archaeological remains

Work occurred on land at 51 Cannon Street, Little Downham, Cambridgeshire, from July to August 2021.Two excavation areas, Area 1 and 2, were opened in accordance to planning permission granted for development. The earliest dating material is represented by residual flintwork dating from the Mesolithic/early Neolithic and Bronze Age. A small assemblage of pottery was also discovered dating between the late 9th century and mid-12th century AD. Evidence of domestic activity was provided in the form of a possible sunken-featur

The 2 trenches, measuring 10m long and 1.8m wide were excavated in the proposed development area, both revealed archaeological remains. Medieval pits dating to 12th - 14th centuries recorded in Trench 1 along with post-medieval activity. Trench 2 contained only evidence for post-medieval demolition activity

No full textThis collection comprises images, spreadsheets, and CAD data from an archaeological evaluation, excavation, and metal detecting survey at Westley Middle School, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. This work was undertaken by Suffolk Archaeology (now trading as the Suffolk office of Cotswold Archaeology) between July 2018 and October 2018. Following the positive results of the evaluation in July 2018 which indicated the presence of scattered Roman activity, the excavation appears to have located the site of a Late Roman structural complex. A potential rural Roman villa complex with at least three posthole structures, three oven/kilns and a well were uncovered, alongside a partially seen ditched enclosure. An apparent late Roman dispersed hoard including gold and silver coins dating to the 4th to very early 5th century was also recovered from surface deposits

No full textThis collection comprises reports, images, spreadsheets, GIS data, and site records from a trial trenching evaluation conducted at Stoney Thorpe, Southam, Stratford-on-Avon, Warwickshire, as part of HS2 Phase One. Undertaken by Connect Archaeology between January and February 2020, the excavation involved 14 trenches, revealing furrows and plough scars associated with medieval and post-medieval agricultural activity. Additionally, a modern pit was recorded. The site is located adjacent to Stoney Thorpe Deserted Medieval Village, and the work formed part of the enabling works for HS2
