This collection comprises site images and records, a CAD vector drawing, and spreadsheet data from an archaeological evaluation at land west of Wattisfield Road, Walsham le Willows, Suffolk. The works were carried out between 30th October and 2nd November 2018 by Oxford Archaeology East. The evaluation comprised the excavation of 26 trenches. Most of the trenches contained no archaeological features or deposits. The alignment of a former boundary ditch was revealed within two of the trenches and produced ceramic artefacts dated to the 18th-20th century. Trenching also identified a total of three natural tree-bole features displaying evidence for being cleared/burnt out by fire. None of these features were considered suitable for environmental sampling and the recent finds were not retained

Digital Archive from an Archaeological Evaluation at Beth Chatto's Gardens, Elmstead Market, Essex, March 2024

    No full text
This collection consists of images, site record data, a spreadsheet and a vector graphic from an archaeological evaluation (forty-four trial-trenches) by Colchester Archaeological Trust. Work occurred on land north of Beth Chatto's Gardens, Essex, in March 2025. Excavations at the present site revealed evidence of sporadic occupation at the site during the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, and the Middle or Late Bronze Age. A further phase of activity occurred during the early Roman period, with evidence of occupation and of animal husbandry and crop processing. Further phases extended through the post-medieval and modern periods. These features were likely related to agricultural activity and included several field boundary ditches depicted on mid-19th-century tithe mapping of the area

This collection consists of images and site record data from an archaeological evaluation by trial trenching by Ecology Solutions. Work occurred on land at Derwen Lane, Penrhyn Bay, Conwy in August 2025. No finds or features of archaeological interest were encountered in the majority of the trenches, the exception being a linear feature in Trench 03 which is possibly the remains of a former water course or field boundary. Given the results of this evaluation and a previous geophysical survey, it is judged that the potential for the survival of features or finds of archaeological significance throughout the remainder of the Site is extremely low

This collection comprises site images and records, a report, spreadsheet data, and a vector drawing from an archaeological evaluation at Bellhouse Farm, Warren Lane, Stanway, Colchester, Essex. The works were conducted by Colchester Archaeological Trust between September and October 2023. The evaluation uncovered a historical landscape which appears to be sparser in archaeological remains relative to previous works near to the site. An Early Iron Age pit produced a substantial assemblage of finds, indicating that a settlement existed somewhere in the vicinity during this period. A Middle Iron Age pit and a ditch dating to the Middle Iron Age or Late Iron Age were also recorded. Other dated remains were the product of agricultural activity and consisted of a medieval or post-medieval gully and a late post-medieval or modern field boundary ditch
