What is “Integrity” in Clinical Ethics?
No full text医療者が組織その他の制約のため，自分が倫理的だと思うことが行えず，辛い気持ちを抱いている状態を道徳的苦悩（moral distress）という。道徳的苦悩は，医療者のバーンアウトやうつ，職場の満足度低下などを引き起こし，患者のアドボカシーの役割を担う者の能力に影響を与える。自らが正しい，適切だと考える行動ができないことは，自らの中にあるintegrity を損なってしまう可能性がある。医療者は臨床において，日々このintegrity を損なう立場に置かれる機会があり，integrity を維持することは医療を提供するうえで必要不可欠なことである。昨今，臨床の倫理的問題に対応する能力として，倫理的感受性を育成することの重要性が示されているが，その概念自体も未だ明確に定まっていなく，倫理的感受性を養うことは一朝一夕にできることではない。また，臨床倫理で取り扱われる倫理的問題は組織や社会的環境における構造的な問題であり，個人の能力を強化，向上させることで解決策を生み出すことはできない。そうであるならば，臨床の倫理的問題に対峙する医療者が，最低限持ち合わせていなければならない資質とは何であるのか。この問いに対する筆者の見解を，医療倫理学における「integrity」という視点から論述する
On periodic traveling wave solutions with or without phase transition to the Navier-Stokes-Korteweg and the Euler-Korteweg equations
No full textThe Navier-Stokes-Korteweg and the Euler-Korteweg equations are considered in isothermal setting. These are diffuse interface models of two-phase flow. For the Navier-Stokes-Korteweg equations, we show that there is no periodic traveling wave solution with phase transition although there exists a non-constant periodic traveling wave solution with no phase transition. For the Euler-Korteweg equations, we show that there always exists a periodic traveling wave solution with phase transition for any period if the Korteweg relaxation parameter is small compared with the period provided that the available energy is double-well type. We also show that such a periodic traveling wave solution tends to a monotone traveling wave solution as the period tends to infinity under suitable spatial translation. Our numerical experiment suggests that there is periodic traveling wave with phase transition which is stable under periodic perturbation for small viscosity but it seems that this is a transition pattern
Summary of Previous Research and Issues Regarding “Te-no”
No full text本稿は，現代日本語における「ての」構造（動詞の連用形＋テ＋ノ＋名詞）の形式についての先行研究を体系的に整理し，「ての」がどのように考察されてきたかを明らかにするとともに，既存の研究において浮かび上がった問題点を提起して論述する。「ての」の位置付けや今後の研究の方向性について論述した結果，以下の3点が明らかになった。（a）「ての」形式の考察において，「て」の意味用法から分析することの妥当性についてはさらなる検討が必要であることを主張した。（b）「て」による連体修飾を含む構文と連用修飾を含む構文の間には，単純な相互派生関係が認められず，意味的に異なる点が存在することを示した。（c）「ての」形式には「初めての見学」や「信頼あっての取引」のような周辺的形式が存在することが確認され，「ての」形式と「複合格助詞＋の」形式は明確な基準を設けなければ全く異なる種類として混同して分析されることはできないことが明らかになった
Iceberg Closet : Ernest Hemingwayʼs Aesthetic Practice of Sexuality
No full textThis essay analyzes Ernest Hemingwayʼs short story “Soldierʼs Home.” It was composed in April, 1924 and was included in In Our Time, published by Boni & Liveright in 1925.
The protagonist is a young soldier Harold Krebs. He goes to the war from a college in Kansas and comes back from Germany to his hometown in Oklahoma. No one welcomes his return because they think it is so strange that he comes home so late. He finds out that everything in the town is the same as when he left. His mother is worried about him, because he doesnʼt want to find a job. His father doesnʼt show up in the story, and his sister Helen is the only one who admires him. Krebs is not interested in the girls in the town neither, because he thinks they are so complicated. All he wants to do is to play the clarinet, watch girls from distance, and read books about the war. The story ends with a conversation between Krebs and his mother about his future. He thinks that he should go to Kansas City to find a job, after watching his sister Helen play indoor baseball. He only “wanted his life to go smoothly.”
This essay reveals that Krebs disguises his own homosexuality. Many critics have attempted to investigate the truth of this work by comparing and examining Hemingwayʼs real experiences and the reality of the war and his hometown, within the theme of lies. However, the biggest lie in this work is that Harold continues to disguise his own sexual orientation. In other words, this work is a story of a gay man skillfully locked in a closet of Hemingwayʼs iceberg theory
Effects of the Listener’s Musical Training on the Judgment of Artistry for Temporal Fluctuations
No full text本研究では，聴取者の⾳楽訓練がテンポのゆらぎに対する芸術性評価に影響を与えるかを解明するため，⾳階型・アルペジオ型旋律を刺激とする実験を⾏った。⾳楽訓練年数により初⼼者 (n = 19)，中級者 (n = 18)，上級者 (n = 15) の3群に分けられた52⼈の参加者が，テンポが操作された旋律を聴き，その芸術性について単極 10 件法で印象評定を⾏った。その結果，２種類の旋律に対する評価の平均値には⾳楽訓練の効果は認められなかったものの，各群の平均値と尺度の中央値との関係に焦点を当てると，⾳階型旋律において中級者の平均値のみが「中央値を超えて芸術的」，初⼼者・上級者では「中央値程度」という逆U字型の結果が認められた。We investigated whether musical training of listeners would influence their judgment of artistry for temporal fluctuations of scale and arpeggio melodies. Fifty-two participants fell into 3 groups̶“beginner” (n = 19), “intermediate” (n = 18), “advanced” (n = 15)̶ based on the years of musical training. They judged levels of artistry on melodies with tempo fluctuations by means of a unipolar 10-point scale. Results showed that no effects of musical training were evident in analyses of mean values in either melodic type. However, mean values of intermediate group were greater (i.e., more toward “artistic”) than median while those of the other two were not different from median, implying an inverted U-shaped judgment across three levels of musical training
