反事実的比較法を用いた危害の説明をめぐる議論の現状
No full text本稿は、反事実的比較法（Counterfactual Comparative Account/CCA）を用いた危害の説明に関する議論を概観し、特にKlocksiem による擁護とCarlson による批判を中心に整理する。CCA は、ある出来事が生じなかった場合に対象者がよりよい状態にあったかどうかを基準として危害を判断する立場である。Klocksiem は、CCA が文脈に依存し、内在的・外在的な危害、一時的・全体的な危害の区別を明確にする点を強調する。一方、Carlson は、CCA が「行為の理由」や「選好の理由」に適合しないことを指摘し、批判する。これに対し、Klocksiem は、行為とアウトカムを区別することで批判を回避しようとする。最後に、医療倫理・医療哲学との関連として、トータルペインの概念や医療事故の扱いをCCA の枠組みで考察する方針を示唆する。本稿は、危害の概念に関する哲学的議論を整理し、今後の研究の課題としてCCA の限界と応用可能性を指摘する。This paper provides an overview of the debate surrounding the Counterfactual Comparative Account of harm (CCA), focusing on Klocksiem’s defense and Carlson’s critique. CCA evaluates harm by employing counterfactual conditionals and possible world comparisons, assessing whether an individual is better off in the closest possible world where the harmful event did not occur than in the actual world. Klocksiem emphasizes that CCA is contextdependent and clarifies the distinctions between intrinsic and extrinsic harm, as well as between pro tanto and all-things-considered harm. In contrast, Carlson argues that CCA fails to align with the principles of “reasons for action” and “reasons for preference”. Klocksiem responds by distinguishing between actions and outcomes to counter these objections. Finally, this paper suggests exploring the implications of CCA in medical ethics and philosophy of medicine, particularly in relation to the concept of total pain and the classification of medical errors. By critically examining CCA, this study identifies its theoretical limitations and potential applications, contributing to the broader discourse on the nature of harm
