How should Science Communicators Discuss with Parents? : From the Cases of Disliking Insects
保護者に対して行った科学に関する情報発信が,彼らからの反発や批判を招くことがある.対話を通して,より効果的な情報発信をするために,サイエンスコミュニケーターはどのようにコミュニケーションを行えばよいだろうか.本稿では虫嫌いの事例において,保護者が専門家から求められたことや,求められたことに対する保護者の反応等から,議論がどのように行われているか整理,考察した.結果から,子どもの前で虫への嫌悪を表現する保護者は批判され,子どもの前で嫌悪を示さないように努める保護者は支持される傾向が認められた.特に母親に対してはその傾向が強く,専門家の要請を対話なしに,保護者に受け入れさせる圧力を生む,一方向的なコミュニケーションにつながっていることが示唆された.よりよいコミュニケーションのために,サイエンスコミュニケーターは保護者の立場を理解することが重要であるという観点で,実践のための手がかりを示した.The transmission of information about science to parents sometimes evoke their antipathy and critics. How could science communicators be able to transmit the information through discussions more effectively? In this article, I sorted out and considered how discussions are taking place in cases of disliking insects, based on what parents were asked for by specialists and how was their reactions. A trend was observed; critics to the parents who express disliking insects in front of their children and conversely supports to the parents who try not to show disliking insects. This trend strongly occurs with mothers, suggesting that it led to non-interactive communication that push parents to accept the requests of specialists without discussion. I show here the practical clues from the perspective that it is important to understand the position of parents by science communicator to have a better communication

One-Step Fabrication of Water-Dispersible Calcium Phosphate Nanoparticles with Immobilized Lactoferrin for Intraoral Disinfection
Lactoferrin is a highly safe antibacterial protein found in the human body and in foods. Calcium phosphate (CaP) nanoparticles with immobilized lactoferrin could therefore be useful as intraoral disinfectants for the prevention and treatment of dental infections because CaP is a mineral component of human teeth. In this study, we fabricated CaP nanoparticles with co-immobilized lactoferrin and heparin using a simple one-step coprecipitation process. Heparin, a negatively charged polysaccharide, was used as both an immobilizing agent for lactoferrin and a particle-dispersing agent. The immobilization efficiency for lactoferrin in the CaP nanoparticles depended on the concentrations of both the lactoferrin and heparin in the reaction solution and was over 90% under optimal conditions. The nanoparticles had a hydrodynamic diameter of about 150–200 nm and could be well dispersed in water, owing to their relatively large negative zeta potential derived from heparin. They were found to exhibit antibacterial activity against Actinomyces naeslundii, which is involved in the initial formation of dental plaque that consequently leads to dental caries and periodontal disease.
