    Històric i visualització de dades d'un vehicle

    L’objectiu d’aquest treball és el disseny i la implementació d’una infraestructura software capaç de generar, emmagatzemar i visualitzar dades simulades provinents de trames equivalents a les del bus CAN d’un vehicle. El projecte consisteix en un simulador encarregat de publicar trames via MQTT a un broker. Aquest broker les transmet a un codi injector que se subscriu als missatges, els processa i els insereix en una base de dades per mantenir un històric. Finalment, un servidor web amb interfície d’usuari permet consultar aquest històric i monitorar en temps real l’estat del vehicle.The aim of this project is to design and implement a software infrastructure capable of generating, storing, and visualizing simulated data derived from frames equivalent to those transmitted over a vehicle’s CAN bus. The system is composed of a simulator responsible for publishing frames via MQTT to a broker. This broker forwards the messages to an injector module, which subscribes to the topic, processes the data, and inserts it into a database to maintain a historical record. Finally, a web server with a user interface allows users to consult the historical data and monitor the vehicle’s status in real time

    Modeling and impact assessment of hybrid battery–supercapacitor energy storage solutions for electric vehicles

    This paper presents a comprehensive modeling and control framework for electric vehicles (EVs) equipped with a hybrid energy storage system combining a battery and a supercapacitor. The proposed approach includes detailed representations of road loads, thermal and electrical behavior of power train components, and advanced control strategies for motor speed and torque regulation, as well as for the active management of the supercapacitor and battery packs. These controllers, based on PI structures and enhanced with Maximum Torque Per Ampere (MTPA) and field weakening techniques for the motor, are complemented by Safe Operating Area (SOA)-based constraints to ensure safe operation of the battery and supercapacitor under varying State of Charge (SoC) conditions. In addition, the power control of the supercapacitor pack, since being the cornerstone of the performance of the active hybrid topology proposed in the paper, is tested under two control strategies, both tuned using H- control theory to guarantee robustness and dynamic performance. Simulation results demonstrate that active hybridization significantly outperforms passive configurations and the base case (no hybrid solution) in terms of battery power stress reduction and regenerative braking efficiency. Notably, battery peak discharge power can be reduced by up to 53.2%, and power cycling frequency and severity is mitigated. Regenerative braking is enhanced by shifting charge demand to the supercapacitor, although sizing trade-offs are observed: larger packs improve buffering but increase vehicle weight and energy consumption.     Early-age shrinkage monitoring of 3D-printed cementitious mixtures: comparison of measuring techniques and low-cost alternatives

    Early-age shrinkage in 3D-printed concrete constitutes a critical applied challenge due to the rapid development of deformations and the absence of conventional reinforcement systems. From a scientific standpoint, a clear knowledge gap exists in materials science concerning the reliable quantification of very small, rapidly evolving strains in fresh and early-age cementitious materials produced by additive manufacturing. This study investigates practical and low-cost alternatives to commercial optical systems for monitoring early-age shrinkage in 3D-printed concrete, a key challenge given the rapid deformation of printed elements and their typical lack of reinforcement. The work focuses on identifying both the most precise method for capturing minor, fast-developing strains and affordable tools suitable for laboratories without access to advanced equipment. Three mixtures with different aggregate types were examined to broaden the applicability of the findings and to evaluate how aggregate selection affects fresh properties, hardened performance, and shrinkage behavior. Shrinkage measurements were carried out using a commercial digital image correlation system, which served as the reference method, along with simplified optical setups based on a smartphone camera and a GoPro device. Additional measurements were performed with laser displacement sensors and Linear Variable Differential Transformer LVDT transducers mounted in a dedicated fixture. Results were compared with the standardized linear shrinkage test to assess precision, stability, and the influence of curing conditions. The findings show that early-age shrinkage must be monitored immediately after printing and under controlled environmental conditions. When the results obtained after 12 h of measurement were compared with the values recorded using the commercial reference system, differences of 19%, 13%, 16%, and 14% were observed for the smartphone-based method, the GoPro system, the laser sensors, and the LVDT transducers, respectively.This research was funded in whole by the National Science Centre, Poland, within Project No. 2022/45/N/ST8/01277 (PRELUDIUM-21).Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

    Davant la irrupció recent de les eines d’intel·ligència artificial generativa en el camp de l’arquitectura, aquest treball investiga com aquests sistemes poden integrar-se dins del projecte arquitectònic sense anul·lar l’autoria ni el control projectual. Lluny d’entendre la IA com una eina de producció formal automàtica, el treball la planteja com un sistema basat en dades capaç d’operar sobre precedents i patrons existents. Prenent com a punt de partida una recerca prèvia sobre processos generatius, el Treball Final de Grau revisa el concepte de projectile en el context contemporani de la intel·ligència artificial, explorant el desplaçament del control del projecte cap a la selecció, construcció i filtratge del dataset. La investigació combina un marc teòric amb un cas d’estudi operatiu centrat en la conversió de la ciutat de Barcelona en un dataset urbà. Mitjançant eines de geoinformació, aprenentatge automàtic i modelatge arquitectònic, s’analitzen patrons urbans recurrents. Com a resultat, el treball proposa una lectura crítica del projecte arquitectònic assistit per IA, en què l’autoria no desapareix sinó que es redefineix com un procés d’edició del precedent. El dataset esdevé així una nova forma de cànon projectual, capaç de generar variacions coherents sense recórrer exclusivament a regles formals explícites

    Training healthcare professionals to address gender-based violence: a virtual reality-based educational intervention

    Gender-Based Violence (GBV) remains a global concern, often under-identified due to limited healthcare professional training. This study aimed to explore the potential effect of a virtual reality (VR)-based experiential training on primary care professionals from Barcelona (n = 38). A mixed-methods design was used, including a single-group pre-post quantitative test and qualitative observations recorded during the sessions. The training comprised VR scenarios presented as 360° videos, followed by debriefing with key theoretical points. Results indicated that the VR-based training was associated with an increase in participants’ self-perception of competence, knowledge, and perspectives in addressing GBV. These findings suggest that immersive VR environments may be a useful tool for professional development and could support improved identification and management of GBV in clinical practice.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

    Influence of natural aging on the properties of recycled EPDM rubber compounds in different environments

    The need to recycle elastomeric waste requires studying its viability in industrial applications. This study investigates the feasibility of recycling elastomeric waste by analyzing whether virgin ethylene-propylene-diene monomer (EPDM) can be replaced by blends of virgin EPDM and thermomechanically and microwave devulcanized EPDM (EPDMd) in industrial applications from the perspective of environmental degradation. Two types of samples were examined: conventional EPDM used to roof membranes, and EPDM blended with different amounts (20, 40, and 50 phr) of EPDMd. Samples were subjected to natural aging in coastal and mountainous environments. Results show that mechanical properties decline with higher EPDMd content and, to a lesser degree, with prolonged outdoor exposure. The coastal climate proved more aggressive than the mountainous one when EPDMd content exceeded 40 phr. Zinc stearate (ZnSt2), a byproduct of vulcanization, was found to influence the evolution of the mechanical behavior.     Transparent and equitable metrics and models

    During extensive training and tuning of large language models (LLMs) and foundational models (FM), researchers will inevitably encounter machine learning (ML) bias and fairness questions, which cast a shadow over the FM development and deployment process. In an FM, bias manifests as an unfair preference or prejudice toward a specific class, distorting learning and ultimately compromising the model’s performance. Transparency is crucial for understanding the inner workings of foundation models. Equity metrics and fairness metrics in AI serve distinct purposes in evaluating the ethical, legal, socioeconomic, and cultural implications of FM. However, current evaluation methods face several limitations, including the potential for overfitting to popular benchmarks, data contamination issues, and inadequate assessment of diversity, creativity, and real-world generalization.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

    Aquest Treball de Fi de Grau analitza el mercat de l’habitatge protegit a Catalunya en comparació amb altres comunitats autònomes de referència – la Comunitat de Madrid, Andalusia i el País Basc – amb l’objectiu de caracteritzar les diferències estructurals i avaluar el posicionament del model català. L’estudi adopta un enfocament quantitatiu basat en indicadors clau (KPIs) que permeten la mesura d’aspectes rellevants en quant al parc d’habitatge i a la inversió pública associada. Per a l’anàlisi, s’ha construït una base de dades homogènia a partir de la combinació de diverses fonts oficials i informes especialitzats, garantint la comparabilitat entre territoris, a partir de la qual s’han calculat els diferents indicadors de rendibilitat. Amb els resultats obtinguts s’ha procedit a l’aplicació de proves estadístiques no paramètriques per determinar la significació de les diferències observades i obtenir resultats robustos i comparables. Aquesta metodologia ha permès identificar patrons i tendències generals amb l’objectiu de situar Catalunya dins del context estatal de manera objectiva. Els resultats finals han evidenciat que Catalunya presenta un model intermedi, reflectint una necessitat de major cohesió entre les necessitats del mercat i la resposta institucional. Això suggereix un marge de millora per Catalunya, on poder optimitzar polítiques públiques i així millorar l’accessibilitat a l’habitatge de protecció oficial. En conclusió, aquest treball ofereix una visió estructurada i metodològica del mercat de l’habitatge protegit a Catalunya, proporcionant una base per a futures millores del model actual i per a la presa de decisions futures en matèria de política pública d’habitatge
