2D hydrogen-carrier liquid fuel: Graphene oxide electrochemically hydrogenated by copper porous catalysts in continuous flow cell conditions and its H2 recovery
Graphene-based materials have attracted considerable attention in the energy storage field due to their unique properties and the possibility of storing hydrogen. Graphene oxide (GO), reduced graphene oxide (rGO), or graphane (GA), among others, are well-studied graphene derivatives where the aromatic structure has been tuned and adapted for long-term energy-dense hydrogen storage. We present the controlled hydrogenation of GO for the first time obtained in continuous flow electrochemical reactor conditions, directly fed with GO flakes in aqueous suspension. The system directly splits water and bonds the hydrogen to the GO flakes, producing an energy-rich, chemically hydrogenated reduced graphene oxide (rGO–H) liquid fuel at cell potentials as low as 1.5 V, in a scalable process architecture. The influence of foam-like porous cathodes such as nickel (Ni) or copper (Cu) has identified the unfavorable catalytic surface of Cu to the hydrogen gas evolution to be beneficial for faradaic efficiency towards GO polarization and hydrogenation. The resulting rGO-H has been fully characterized to study the mechanism involved in the oxygenated group's loss, structure reorganization, and H-fixation steps occurring during the electrochemical reduction. rGO-H programmed thermal decomposition at mild temperatures describes the hydrogen recovery as molecular gas (H2) on demand, with binding energies of 0.98 eV/at.IREC and ICFO acknowledge financial support from LESGO project (Code: 952068.

The Ohm’s Law for (non-symmetric) three-phase three-wire electrical circuits: from a complex-valued to a geometric algebra approach
This paper introduces the modelling of three-phase electrical systems using the Geometric Algebra approach and is compared with the complex-valued framework in the case of non-symmetrical conditions. The main benefit of the geometric algebra framework is the possibility of representing the dynamics of unbalanced scenarios by a single-input, single-output relationship. The paper presents step-by-step, building the geometric impedance and revisiting Ohm’s law, and compares the complex-valued modelling widely used in balanced three-phase circuits. This work was partially supported by the Government of Spain through the Agencia Estatal de Investigación Project PID2021- 122821NB-I00 and by the Generalitat de Catalunya, Spain through the Projects 2021-SGR-00098, 2021-SGR-00375 and 2021-SGR00376.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft
This project is based on the development and evaluation of an end-to-end system to generate a sentence (insight) that summarizes the message intended to be conveyed by a chart; specifically, within a subset of chart types (bar, grouped_bar, line, multi_line, pie, donut and scatter). The objective is framed within accessibility for people with visual impairments and, at the same time, the creation of a useful tool for annotating and reviewing chart content. The architecture supporting the interactive application (uploading a chart, obtaining an insight, listening to it, and exporting the chart+insight pair as a PDF) is based on two complementary routes: the first applies a structural extractor (the DePlot model) followed by a verbalization step using an LLM; whereas the secondary route relies on a vision--language model when structural extraction is not sufficiently reliable or applicable, according to the evidence observed experimentally. The evaluation is conducted mostly on synthetic data, as well as on a smaller set of real-world charts (due to limited availability), emphasizing semantic fidelity and utility beyond strict numeric accuracy. In this context, while a significant portion of the generated insights are accurate and directly usable, others present inconsistencies arising from extraction or generation. This variability motivates the adopted human-in-the-loop approach: the insight is conceived as a revisable draft, where human oversight validates the information
This Bachelor's Thesis presents the design, development, and evaluation of an intelligent Helpdesk assistance system based on Artificial Intelligence techniques. The project addresses the high workload associated with telephone support and the manual creation of tickets in traditional ticketing systems. To tackle this issue, a voice-based application is proposed that guides users through natural language interactions, gathers the required information, and automatically generates the corresponding tickets in the Remedy platform. The system architecture integrates large language models for natural language understanding and generation, combined with an automatic form selection mechanism based on Retrieve & Rerank techniques. The development process followed an agile methodology, enabling an incremental evolution from an initial functional version to an extended version with improved accuracy and scalability. The evaluation results show that the proposed system reduces the number of interactions required to register incidents, enhances user experience, and significantly alleviates the operational workload of Helpdesk agents, while maintaining response times and availability levels suitable for real-world enterprise environments
