    Mezclas de caucho reciclado/termoplásticos: propiedades dieléctricas, mecánicas y térmicas

    The mass production of tires, as well as the difficulty in reducing their waste, define a serious environmen-tal problem. There are several methods for recycling discarded tires, one of the most common being me-chanical shredding, in which the vulcanized rubber is separated from the steel and fibres, resulting in ground tire rubber (GTR). This rubber can be used in various applications such as insulating footwear soles, insulat-ing floors, or as insulation for special electric motors. The objective of this research is to evaluate the use of this GTR when mixed with various types of poly-meric matrix by measuring the mechanical, thermal, and dielectric properties of the resulting composites (polymer + GTR). The analysis was performed using four polymeric matrices (ABS, EVA, PA, and PP) mixed with different concentrations of GTR.La masiva fabricación de neumáticos, así como su dificultad para reducirlos una vez utilizados supone un grave problema medioambiental. Existen varios métodos para reciclar los neumáticos desechados, siendo uno de los más comunes su trituración mecánica, en la cual el caucho vulcanizado es separado del acero y las fibras, dando como resultado un caucho de neumático molido (GTR). Este caucho puede ser utilizado en diversas aplicaciones como suelas aislantes de calzado, suelos aislantes o como aislamientos de motores eléctricos especiales. El objetivo de la presente investigación pasa por evaluar el uso de este GTR cuando se mezcla con varios tipos de matriz polimérica mediante la medición de sus propiedades mecánicas, térmicas y dieléctricas de sus compuestos resultantes (polímero + GTR). El análisis se ha realizado utilizando cuatro matrices poli-méricas (ABS, EVA, PA y PP) mezcladas con diferentes concentraciones de GTR.La fabricació massiva de pneumàtics, així com la dificultat per reduir-los un cop utilitzats, suposa un greu problema mediambiental. Hi ha diversos mètodes per reciclar els pneumàtics rebutjats, sent un dels més comuns la seva trituració mecànica, en la qual el cau-txú vulcanitzat és separat de l’acer i les fibres, donant com a resultat un cautxú de pneumàtic mòlt (GTR). Aquest cautxú pot ser utilitzat en diverses aplicacions com per a soles aïllants de calçat, sòls aïllants o com a aïllaments de motors elèctrics especials.     Evaluating risk-based hazard corridors in air traffic controller decisions during space launch failures

    The increasing frequency and diversity of space launch activities challenge the safety and reliability of current air traffic management systems. In this study, we present a risk-based hazard corridor methodology for managing air traffic during space launch failures. Our method combines a debris propagation model with a hazard corridor construction approach that estimates the risk posed by debris to aircraft. We evaluated the constructed risk-based hazard corridors using high-fidelity human-in-the-loop simulations. In our experiments, air traffic controllers managed two strategies of hazard corridors. The dynamic hazard corridor updated the boundary in real-time while the static hazard corridor remained fixed by consolidating the dynamic boundaries over the entire activation period until the last piece of debris fell. The results show that controllers maintained safety separation across all scenarios, although their real-time workload increased significantly during hazard corridor activation. Overall, the controllers’ perceived workload and situation awareness remained stable, implying that the task demands were acceptable for all the experimental runs. Efficiency measure results indicate that the dynamic hazard corridor can reduce extra flight distance and delays, thus minimizing operational disruption caused by space launch failures. We also found that more experienced controllers tend to choose more cautious and conservative rerouting strategies. These findings offer practical guidance for improving resilience in air and space management integration.     Supermarkets as museums of plant diversity: characterizing the food basket as a project for gastronomy students to learn about crop diversity and water footprint

    Crop diversity is fundamental for sustainable food systems, yet in modern diets most people remain unaware of the plants that make up their food, reflecting a widespread lack of plant awareness. For gastronomy students, understanding agrobiodiversity and recognizing the plant species used in food preparations are essential learning outcomes that foster awareness of the nutritional, cultural, and environmental value of plant diversity. This study presents an inquiry-based learning project that uses supermarkets as museums of plant diversity, engaging undergraduate gastronomy students in analyzing the plant diversity (at species-level), geographical origins, and water footprint of food products from their own supermarket baskets. The project design, data sources, and collaborative characterization procedures are described, along with results obtained over two academic years. Ninety-five students collectively analyzed 852 food products, revealing a predominance of processed items (86.6 %) and a notable diversity of 118 plant species. Most species had foreign origins, while those from the study region (South/East Mediterranean) accounted for only 10.1 % and 21.5 % of the diversity in fresh and processed products, respectively. Processed foods also exhibited a higher water footprint (289.7 l/100 g) than fresh products (103.8 l/100 g). Students reported a highly positive learning experience, emphasizing that examining their own food purchases through a research-based approach enhanced their understanding of agrobiodiversity and sustainability. Overall, the project demonstrates that using supermarkets as experiential learning environments effectively integrates agronomy, history, food science, and gastronomy, fostering both plant awareness and environmental responsibility.Postprint (published version

    Ce mémoire est structuré en deux parties. La première partie du mémoire constitue le cadre théorique de la recherche. Elle vise à comprendre comment les Jeux Olympiques se sont progressivement transformés, d’un événement sportif ponctuel, en un outil d’intervention urbaine et territoriale. La seconde partie de la recherche propose une analyse comparative des Jeux Olympiques de Barcelone 1992 et Paris 2024. Cette comparaison vise à comprendre comment les deux éditions, à trente-deux-ans d’écart et inscrit dans le même cadre événementiel, ont établi des choix architecturaux et urbains pour accueillir l’événement. Cette partie s’organise selon une lecture multi-scalaire, allant de l’échelle territoriale à celle du quartier, afin de saisir les logiques de transformation à l’oeuvre avant, pendant et après l’événement olympique
