Tripodfish
Perched on the seabed on extended fin raysA tripodfish, Bathypterois (dubius?). The animal is perched on the seabed on elongated fin rays. The swimming behaviour of a similar species is reported from SERPENT observations here:
Davis, M. P., Chakrabarty, P. (2011) Tripodfish (Aulopiformes: Bathypterois) locomotion and landing behaviour from video observation at bathypelagic depths in the Campos Basin of Brazil. Marine Biology Research 7:297-30
Dicrolene sp
This looks like Dicrolene with the big eye, prominent white spot lateral line. Elongate pectoral fin rays are visible as light is adjusted. Seen here next to a large wood fall
Sea cucumber
A sea cucumber Benthodytes. Note small polychaete on the back of the holothurian (Aphroditiformia?
Benthocodon sp.
This hydromedusa is probably Benthocodon (perhaps B. pedunculata). However, the genus may be Voragonema. Without a higher resolution image or a properly preserved specimen, it is impossible to be certain. These are common in the benthic boundary zone in all the oceans. They apparently feed on copepods, perhaps too, the organic fluff that carpets the sea floor
Rattail
Attending baited camera. Not clear from images if it feeds on the bait.A rattail, likely Coelorinchus sp. rattail at a baited camera experiment. There are more than 100 species of Coelorinchus
Ipnops sp.
A fish that has been rarely photographed.
I. agassizi (shaloower than 2000 m) and I. meadi (deeper than 3500 m) are found in the Indian Ocean. It is not possible to identify this specimen to species level because the image resolution isn't high enough
Antimora rostrata
Attending a baited camera experimentAntimora rostrata attracted to a baited time-lapse camera off Tanzania. Antimora rostrata is found globally in deep water (350-3000 m). For further details see Fishbase: http://www.fishbase.org/summary/Antimora-rostrata.htm
