Flabellum sp.
Cosmopolitan genus of non-reef building scleractinia. Solitary, free-living corals that are purse-shaped with or without rootlets. A colum is absent or nearly so. Polyps are extended day and night and are large.Flabellum sp. is the orange organism in the foreground of the image with its tentacles withdrawn. These kind of stony corals are often found in soft sediments.
The red organism in the top right hand corner of the image is probably also a Flagellum sp. but with its tentacles expanded
Peniagone Sea cucumber
SwimmingLarge numbers of benthopelagic sea cucumbers. These holothurians swim above the surface of the sediment and settle on the mud to feed.
In similar previous records (Barnes 1976), Peniagone diaphana has been recorded at 2000 m water depth off southern California. The dense aggregations extended to 70 m above the seabed

Deep-water chimera. Hydrolagus affinis, the Smalleyed rabbitfish
swimminga deep-water chimera. The species is Hydrolagus affinis, the Smalleyed rabbitfish. This is a reasonably common deep-water species that lives in the Northern Atlantic at depths of 300-3000m. It is in the same class as the sharks. It was described in 1868. Unfortunately for this fish it has a high infection rate from various parasites (nine have been recorded). The most visible is a copepod (crustacean) parasite, Lernaeopodina longibrachia, that attaches to the cornea. This parasite infects around 80% of individuals
