Drifting, FloatingThe observations are tough to identify, they look like an oarfish from the top with the big dorsal but they appear to show a well defined caudal fin which makes me doubt that they are of Regalecus glesne. We need another opinion on them

Lithodid from Mauritania. Best identification is Paralomis africana although picture quality prevents high confidence. P. africana could be P. cristulata, but there is no point making that distinction since the two are very close. That would fit into the normal depth range (although extend known geographic range) for both species
