EnThe inaccuracies of older catalogs continue to influence the descriptions of Byzantine liturgical manuscripts today, especially in the context of palaeography studies. The present study deals with this problem through a critical revision of a conspicuous sector of Greek liturgical books produced in Salento between the twelfth and sixteenth century. The author takes into consideration over eighty manuscripts and fragments of codices used in liturgical worship (with the exceptions of the euchologion and synaxarion), and traces each editorial typology on the basis of the most current and reliable research

The figure of Luigi Tasselli, a Franciscan savant from Salento and author of the historical and chorographic work "Antichità di Leuca", has long been denigrated for the lack of historical criteria in his work. The work, however, today represents an important source for the reconstruction of legends, traditions and religious practices of the ancient Terra d'Otranto at the end of the seventeenth century, some of which are no longer known by the local population. In this work there are continuous references to elements of the landscape that are still significant for the inhabitants of Salento. We can also perceive the cultural physiognomy of Salento in the early modern age, a land of encounter between two cultures: the Latin West and the Byzantine East
Le grotte marine del Salento: censimento 2008
EnThe census of submerged marine caves has been carried out around the Salento Peninsula 10 years after the last updating (ONORATO et al., 1999). In 10 years of speleodiving activity many unknown caves have been discovered and described.
As a consequence, the list of submarine caves around the Salento Pensinsula has grown from 53 caves of the ONORATO et al. (1999) paper, to the 77 of the present report. Maps and descriptions have been collected for all the new caves, and updatings on speleology and biology have been illustrated from original articles, for some of the already known caves.
All the information derived from 20 articles, 6 dissertations, 5 participations to conferences, which had as a study objective submarine caves along the Salento coastline, all occurred after the paper of ONORATO et al. (1999)
New data on the Noctuidae and Erebidae of the Salento (South Italy) (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae)
Inoltre si segnalano tre specie per la prima volta in Puglia (Tathorhynchus exsiccata, Autophila limbata, Pandesma robusta) e quattro specie per la prima volta nel Salento (Catephia alchimista, Minucia lunaris, Catocala conjuncta, Thysanoplusia orichalcea).EnThis is the second contribution to the knowledge of the Noctuoidea of Salento and deals with the data of three subfamilies extrapolated from the general work on the Noctuidae and Erebidae of the Salento, still in preparation. Material which the observations are based on is stored in the Natural History Museum of Salento (NHMS) collection and in the first author's private collection. Collecting methods and genitalia dissection procedures are described in Durante and Potenza (2016). This research was carried out in the Salento Peninsula, especially its southern part, as better specified in Durante and Potenza (2016). Despite of a high degree of anthropization, the Peninsula of Salento appears always a surprising land. In the previous paper (Durante and Potenza, 2016) the authors examined the tribus Hadenini e Glottulini (subfamily Hadeninae Guenée, 1837, old sense, actually in Noctuinae Latreille, 1809), finding the presence of the 56% of the fauna of the whole Puglia. The present study confirms that datum, being the total percentage of the three subfamilies (i.e. Heliothinae + Catocalinae + Plusinae) equal to 62%. In addition we found three species recorded for the first time in Puglia (Tathorhynchus exsiccata, Autophila limbata, Pandesma robusta), and four species recorded for the first time in Salento (Catephia alchimista, Minucia lunaris, Catocala conjuncta, Thysanoplusia orichalcea)
Polemò. Il lavoro nei canti popolari del Salento
The essay "Polemó. Work in the folk chants from Salento" examines in depth the theme of work found in traditional songs all over the province of Lecce. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Salento peninsula was geographically in a very peripheral position, with an inadequate network of roads, and a poor and underdeveloped economy. Yet, in spite of the local and cultural limits, this little strip of land – where the linguistic island of Grecía Salentina is located – had developed several possibilities of self-sustenance, giving its inhabitants the chance to make the most of their hidden skills. Through their traditional chants, the people from Salento expressed their passions and moods, linked to their working environment, their unstable life conditions and their everyday life. From audio materials, we can get very useful knowledge that helps us to really understand the working dynamics of the lower class people. For example, all the jobs, which don´t exist anymore, once shaped and diversified society. Some of these jobs, such as carpenters or barbers, were preferred to others, being less hard and unstable. The kids used to leave school very early or they wouldn´t attend school at all, and in this case they were directed to do practical activities. Through these songs we understand that women, usually submissive in our stereotypes, were actually independent in their working and domestic contexts. They played an active role in domestic management and, when the cultivation of tobacco plantation was introduced in Salento, they became part of that working world
EnThe Aracnida (Araneae, Scorpiones) listed, have in the past been connected to Tarantismo and form part of a larger number of specimens collected by hand-sampled in the Salento area (Southern Italy) a few years ago, especially in the lower part of the above mentioned region. The Faunistic research was carried out in order to confirm the continuous presence of species already collected, as well as to verify their geographical distribution within the area. Male and female genitalia of Lycosa tarantula and Hogna radiata are illustrated as well
