Born in Knoxville and raised in Maryville, Tennessee, he has been the recipient of fellowships from the James A. Michener Center for Writers and the Camargo Foundation. In 2000 he became the youngest-ever recipient of the Whiting Writers\u27 Award. He currently lives in Norfolk and teaches creative writing at Old Dominion University

Most were created during the height of the print revival in Scotland by artists working in collaboration with the four Scottish print studios in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Dundee. Included are works by Lil Neilson, June Redfern, Graham Fagen, Frances Walker, Calum Colvin and Peter Howson
