SO(1,3) Yang-Mills solutions on Minkowski space via cosets

    No full text
We present a novel family of Yang-Mills solutions, with gauge group SO(1,3), on Minkowski space that are geometrically distinguished into two classes, viz. interior and exterior of the lightcone. We achieve this by foliating the former with SO(1,3)/SO(3) cosets and the latter with SO(1,3)/SO(1,2) cosets and analytically solving the Yang-Mills equation of an SO(1,3)-invariant gauge field. The resulting fields and their stress-energy tensor, when translated to the Minkowski space, diverge at the lightcone, but we demonstrate how this stress-energy tensor could be regularised due to its unique algebraic structure

Solutions of Yang–Mills theory in four-dimensional de Sitter space

Conserved charges for rational electromagnetic knots

We revisit a newfound construction of rational electromagnetic knots based on the conformal correspondence between Minkowski space and a finite S3-cylinder. We present here a more direct approach for this conformal correspondence based on Carter–Penrose transformation that avoids a detour to de Sitter space. The Maxwell equations can be analytically solved on the cylinder in terms of S3 harmonics Yj;m,n, which can then be transformed into Minkowski coordinates using the conformal map. The resultant “knot basis” electromagnetic field configurations have non-trivial topology in that their field lines form closed knots. We consider finite, complex linear combinations of these knot-basis solutions for a fixed spin j and compute all the 15 conserved Noether charges associated with the conformal group. We find that the scalar charges either vanish or are proportional to the energy. For the non-vanishing vector charges, we find a nice geometric structure that facilitates computation of their spherical components as well. We present analytic results for all charges for up to j= 1. We demonstrate possible applications of our findings through some known previous results. © 2022, The Author(s)

Mutually reactive, fluorogenic molecules are presented as a simple and novel technique for in-solution biosensing. The hypothesis behind this work was that aggregating droplets into close proximity would cause rapid mixing of their contents. To take advantage of this effect, a novel pair of fluorogenic redox molecules were designed to remain in lipid-stabilized oil droplets but mix once aggregated. First, the hydrophobic cyanine dye 1,1'-dioctadecyl-3,3,3'3'-tetramethylindocarbocyanine perchlorate (DiI) was reduced with sodium borohydride to form a nonfluorescent analog (HDiI). Hydrophobic quinone derivatives were then screened as oxidizing agents, and it was found that p-fluoranil oxidized nonfluorescent HDiI back to fluorescent DiI. Next, HDiI and p-fluoranil were loaded into NEOBEE oil nanodroplets of average diameter 600 nm that were stabilized by a monolayer of 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DPPC), 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DSPE)-polyethylene glycol (PEG), and DSPE-PEG-biotin. Addition of streptavidin caused aggregation of droplets and the appearance of red fluorescent aggregates within 30 min. Next, Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis was used to record the fluorescence of the droplets and their aggregates. By integrating the fluorescence emission of the tracked droplets, streptavidin could be detected down to 100 fM. Finally, the droplets were reformulated to sense for vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), a biomarker for tumor metastasis. Using anti-VEGF aptamers attached to DSPE-PEG incorporated into the nanodroplet monolayer, VEGF could also be detected down to 100 fM.R00 CA153935/CA/NCI NIH HHS/United StatesS10 RR026641/RR/NCRR NIH HHS/United StatesR21 EB018034/EB/NIBIB NIH HHS/United StatesDP2EB020401/DP/NCCDPHP CDC HHS/United StatesDP2 EB020401/EB/NIBIB NIH HHS/United StatesR00CA153935/CA/NCI NIH HHS/United StatesS10RR026641/RR/NCRR NIH HHS/United StatesR21EB018034/EB/NIBIB NIH HHS/United State

Modified Einstein equations from the 1-loop effective action of the IKKT model

We derive the equations of motion that arise from the one-loop effective action for the geometry of 3+1 dimensional quantum branes in the IKKT matrix model. These equations are cast into the form of generalized Einstein equations, with extra contributions from dilaton and axionic fields, as well as a novel anharmonicity tensor Cµν capturing the classical Yang-Mills-type action. The resulting gravity theory approximately reduces to general relativity in some regime, but differs significantly at cosmic scales, leading to an asymptotically flat Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker cosmological evolution governed by the classical action
