Zbiór zawiera wybrane materiały z jakościowego modułu projektu badawczego pt. „Między sztuką a badaniem naukowym. Ewaluacja działalności artystycznej w systemach ewaluacji nauki”. Uczelnie i wydziały zostały dobrane w taki sposób, aby objąć możliwie proporcjonalnie jednostki ewaluowane w każdej z trzech dyscyplin: sztuk teatralno-filmowych (24 osób z 4 jednostek), muzycznych (18 osób z 3 jednostek) oraz plastycznych i konserwacji dzieł sztuki (18 osób z 6 jednostek). Ewaluacja działalności artystycznej w systemach ewaluacji nauki” (nr projektu 2019/35/D/HS5/00009)</p

The author presents poetry by Kamila Janiak in the context of avant-guard pop-culture. She deals mainly with punk and cyber-punk motifs of this poetry, which alow to understand them as a feminist, post-human and anty-capitalist project. She shows how Janiak for her purposes uses d.tournements: she takes on the one hand principles, which rule in the “controlled societies” and on the other hand pop-culture aesthetics and psychodelic rock music. The author presents poetry by Kamila Janiak in the context of avant-guard pop-culture. Kartography (2002) is the third novel by the Karachi-born author Kamila Shamsie and the “first full-length Pakistani-English novel with the 1971 war”, which resulted in the secession of Pakistan’s East wing, “as its central concern” (Bhattacharji, 385). Today, Shamsie is best known for her highly prescient Home Fire (2017), which explores the familial repercussions of a young British Pakistani’s recruitment by the Islamic State, and for her post-9/11 novel Burnt Shadows (2009)

Revisiting history and reconstructing new forms of belonging and identity in Kamila Shamsie’s Salt and Saffron

As a study of Kamila Shamsie’s Salt and Saffron (2000), this article will explain that this novel revisits the South Asian history while deconstructing the periodisation of the South Asian historiography and its narration in terms of the stories of kings, rulers and ruling dynasties. This narration of the South Asian history highlights the position of those who were ruled but their stories were either lost or were silenced by the dominant political and social narrative. This analysis of Salt and Saffron explains that the nationalist discourse is a gendered phenomenon where women are confined within the boundaries of a private space of home, away from the public sphere of modernity and progress. Therefore, Shamsie uses the transnational feminist perspective in her novel, to critique the oppressive forms of nationalism while narrating the women experiences. The first part of this article will explain that how nation should be reanalysed as an open and enunciative space against different forms of nation-centred narratives including the British imperial and the anti-colonial Pre-Partition nationalist narratives which reinforced themselves by their hegemony over ‘Other’. It will explain how Homi Bhabha points out the fixities in the discourse of nationalism and suggests the narration of more open and inclusive form of nation and nationalism. As Kamila Shamsie identifies the unequal gender positions within the patriarchally controlled home/family and nation, she reconstructs the family/nation as a space of reunion and reconciliation where gender roles are redefined and the family/nation is reimagined as a space of refuge and reconciliation. In doing so, she is revisiting the South Asian history and reconstructing a new Pakistani-transnational feminist identity that is removed from the fixities of patriarchally controlled Pre-colonial, colonial, and Pre-Partition nationalist narratives of identity

Novel Dialogue 2.4: In Medias Res: Kamila Shamsie and Ankhi Mukherjee (AV)

Acclaimed novelist Kamila Shamsie joins esteemed Oxford scholar Ankhi Mukherjee for a wide-ranging discussion of literature and politics. Ankhi raises the unique challenges facing postcolonial and specifically Muslim writers in the wake of 9/11 and the war in Afghanistan, including the pressure to become commentators in times of crisis (our episode was recorded in August as American troops withdrew from Afghanistan). Kamila reserves the right of mental freedom in the face of such expectations. Early in her career, she turned down the opportunity to become a "professional Muslim" and never looked back. Yet, as Ankhi points out, Kamila's novels from Burnt Shadows to Home Fire, balance writing to the moment with writing for posterity. We discuss how Kamila's work aligns mythic structures with historical detail and how Sophocles' Antigone became the "marrow in the bones" of Home Fire. As if that were not enough to whet the appetite, we also discover what's cooking in Kamila's kitchen
