DIMA-fr: a French adaptation and standardization of the Dutch Diagnostic Instrument for Mild Aphasia (DIMA-nl)
No full textThe Dutch Diagnostic Instrument for Mild Aphasia (DIMA-nl) is a standardized battery recently created for evaluating the language performance of patients during the perioperative period of glioma surgery. Our aim was to establish normative data for the DIMA-fr, a French version of the DIMA-nl. The DIMA-nl was first adapted to French. The 14 subtasks of the DIMA-fr were then administered to 391 participants recruited from the general French population. The effects of sex, age and level of education were determined by analysis of variance (ANOVA). Normative data were computed as means, medians, standard deviations and percentiles. Our results demonstrated that age and level of education had an effect on the performance of all subtests but not sex. We thus stratified the norms into four different groups: (i) 18–69 years-old with Baccalauréat (Bac, the French High School Diploma) (n = 246); (ii) 18–69 years-old without Bac (n = 70); (iii) >70 years-old with Bac (n = 48); (iv) >70 years-old without Bac (n = 27). The DIMA-fr is thus the first standardized French battery of tests to specifically assess language during the perioperative period of awake glioma surgery. However, to be used in the clinic, the DIMA-fr must now be validated in patients. The DIMA, which is currently standardized in several languages, could become a reference tool for international studies.</p

Constraints and opportunities facing women entrepreneurs in developing countries: a relational perspective
No full textPurpose: this purpose of the paper to examine the interplay of constraints and opportunities affecting female entrepreneurship in developing countries. The paper integrates salient micro- and macro-level perspectives and provides a rounded account of opportunities and constraints as part of a holistic interdependent system.Design/methodology/approach: the paper adopts an integrative multi-level research design and an interpretive research methodology, capitalizing on in-depth interviews with ten women entrepreneurs to explore their perceptions and interpretations of constraints and opportunities facing female entrepreneurship in the Lebanese context.Findings: the findings presented in this paper clearly illustrate the relevance of micro-, meso-, and macro-level factors in entrepreneurship research and the usefulness of integrating multiple lens and units of analysis to capture the complexity of the women entrepreneurship experience in any particular context.Originality/value: the value added of this research lies in adapting a framework recently popularized in the context of diversity management for use in entrepreneurship research, helping to capture in turn the dynamic interplay of multiple levels of analysis and objective/subjective factors influencing female entrepreneurshi

No full textData analysts in industries spend more than 80% of time on data cleaning and integration in the whole process of data analytics due to data errors and inconsistencies. It calls for effective query processing techniques to tolerate the errors and inconsistencies. In this paper, we develop a distributed in-memory similarity-based query processing system called Dima. Dima supports two core similarity-based query operations, i.e., similarity search and similarity join. Dima extends the SQL programming interface for users to easily invoke these two operations in their data analysis jobs. To avoid expensive data transformation in a distributed environment, we design selectable signatures where two records approximately match if they share common signatures. More importantly, we can adaptively select the signatures to balance the workload. Dima builds signature-based global indexes and local indexes to support efficient similarity search and join. Since Spark is one of the widely adopted distributed in-memory computing systems, we have seamlessly integrated Dima into Spark and developed effective query optimization techniques in Spark. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first full-fledged distributed in-memory system that can support similarity-based query processing. We demonstrate our system in several scenarios, including entity matching, web table integration and query recommendation.</jats:p
