Introduzione critica all'edizione Italiana del libro : HQE, R.Ricciotti, traduzione A. delli Ponti, Alinea Editore, 2008

"Implanting Productive Uses" - Key note intervention as Grand Témoin and round table discussion - Forum of Cities and Juries E15.
Key note intervention : The intervention focuses on Research-by-design prosals presented in the Forum, analysing the relation between Programmatic and Spatial strategies. Uses can become productive if they go beyond their own functional limitations: productive uses work as a trigger that can initiate dynamics of change in a way that transforms the surrounding environment. They are a response to a situation in which an absence of dynamics has led to a powerful "use-ambition", the demand for a credible programme, a catalyst for change that fits smoothly into the existing context.
EU round table discussants : A. delli Ponti Director KH STUDIO (FR/IT); B. Vlay (AT), member of the Scientific Committee, W. Andexlinger (AT) City planning director Innsbruck; N. M. Desantes (ES) Gen. Director of Ecological Innovation, Basque; David González Martínez (ES) Mayor of Olivia; B. Luns (NL) Director AIR; K. Borret (BE) Bouwmeester Chief Architect of Brussels-Capital Region
MULLHEIM - AM LANGEN RAIN - Concorso internazionale ristretto in progettazione urbana, paesaggistica e architettura.
MULLHEIM is a municipality set in a cross-boarder urban area, between Germany, Switzerland and France. Due to its proximity to major international cities and to nature, it is becoming increasingly attractive. In 2015, an international competition was launched to define the future of an abandoned area, capable to host a 300 housing district - meant to absorb urban growth and provide social housing for the next 15 years. The winning proposal, developed by A. delli Ponti, F. Schmelzer and I. Novielli, provided a structural logic that incorporated in the future district the existing fruit plantations and took into consideration a natural disposition to existing topography

Title of the Intervention : Exploring the Rise of the Floating City Paradigm - Towards a Maritime Climatopia? - Co-signed by Alessandro delli Ponti UNIFE IDAUP & Isabella Traeger POLIMI DAStU.
The presentation focused on the Seasteading movement’s quest to build libertarian micro-nations in the High Seas, as a way of unpacking the socio-spatial paradigm of the floating city within the context of climate change. The libertarian fascination with this typology can be read as an exacerbated product of the Western mythicisation of maritime space as space of both freedom and utopian experimentation, and frictionless (neo)colonialism, globalisation and capitalism. A short overview of the floating city paradigm since the 1960s is proposed, individuating four main socio-spatial categories: the amphibious city, the insular megastructure, the archipelagic megastructure and the pod. This historical overview enables to highlight how Metabolism and Seasteading position themselves as maritime techno-determinist ‘climatopias’ geared towards climate change adaptation and/or mitigation. The paper highlights the dangers of such narratives using localised climate security to transcend the need to confront climate change globally. Ultimately, their quest to produce an artificial floating ‘environment’ aimed at human survival reveals a preoccupying escapism, as it postulates a condition of permanent catastrophe
