Cosimo Cinieri: rappresentazione di Cristo al CEP di Bari 1977
This essay analyses Cristo al CEP of Cosimo Cinieri, a representation of the Passion of Christ along the streets of the popular neighborhood of San Paolo di Bari characterized by public housing (CEP), on Palm Sunday of 3 April 1977. Cinieri, active with the Communist Party in the Seventies and returning from the experience of Marigliano with Leo and Perla, experiments his personal hybridization with the “popular”: Cristo al CEP was a scenic action aimed at involving the residents of the CEP “to live a live experience and not only live life through television”

Il Paesaggio della Val Tidone nelle fonti cartografiche
The study of landscape history takes on a significant role in terms of sustainability in European Union policies. The historical investigation forms the basis for the development of urban planning strategies. Therefore, the history of the landscape is not an end in itself but fundamental for the protection of the biodiversity and cultural heritage that characterize the Italian landscape. This consideration prompt research on studying the history of the Piacenza landscape through direct material sources (artefacts) and indirect (archival documents, toponymy, iconographic and bibliographic sources).
The peculiar landscapes of the Italian territory, in most cases, have taken on a characteristic aspect to the transformations related to human activity, even if most environments are usually identified as ‘natural’. For this reason, historical research on the landscape is based on the study of the environment and the relationships that man has established with it.
This ongoing research about the Val Tidone landscape represents the first investigation results on indirect sources, focusing particularly on historical cartography. The cartography shows administrative boundaries, waterways, and private properties, providing many elements useful for understanding the landscape in different historical moments
Booster with novel functions for DC railway substations
Increase of power demand on existing DC traction lines may be covered by adding additional rectifier units in substations or by fitting in intermediate substations along the lines, both causing high investments. A cheaper solution is presented here consisting of an innovative DC booster provided with novel functions that has been studied in Italy. The performance of a substation equipped with the booster in various normal and abnormal system operation conditions has been simulated with good results
The Covid-19 pandemic accelerated territorial and transcalar processes already evident. Among these, the ecological question assumes a central role, with all its political implications and the challenge it poses to the cultures of planning and design in a context of radical uncertainty and growing socio-spatial inequalities. The article proposes some transversal interpretations
of the contributions presented in this Special Issue, identifying in the different declinations an approach to promote anti-fragile projects and policies based on preparedness criteria. The three main interpretations that we considered in introducing a collective reflection on pandemic and territorial fragility were the reflection on the forms of rationality, attention to the dimension of space and places, and the design point of view
A Sustainable Opportunity to Re-Inhabit Traditional Buildings in Italy: Energy Efficiency Actions and Fiscal Incentives
In recent decades, the Italian building trade has recorded an increasing interest in the renovation and improvement of both listed and unlisted existing buildings by the Ministry of Culture, growing the debate on adapting historical buildings to current sustainability needs. The Italian National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) observed the increase in family commuting and the attractiveness of marginal territories. Despite the scarcity of services, one-fifth of Italian small municipalities are attractive according to some indicators, primarily the demographic growth in the last three years. The COVID-19 pandemic has contributed to the re-evaluation of inland areas. Remote working and the new need for open spaces could increase the return to small villages and be further boosted by the fiscal incentives. This paper considers the evolution of last year's real estate market, evaluating whether the regulatory tools for energy retrofit and tax relief meet the trade crisis with a possible benefit of preserving historical buildings. This research cannot ignore the European background; therefore, this paper offers an overview of EU regulatory strategies for energy efficiency recently issued to increase sustainability, focusing on tax credits for improving existing buildings. In conclusion, some considerations are proposed for future in-depth research

Conservazione o sostenibilità: priorità o compromesso? Proposta per un approccio metaprogettuale.
The discipline of conservation is not able to leave out of consideration some needs that are become fundamental in the contemporary society.
Among these, environmental and economic sustainability are basic necessities, however the actions to “make sustainable” a cultural property often conflict with the “orthodox” rules of the conservation discipline. Furthermore, in restoration activities are employed chemical products that could have harmful effects both on workers and on environment and that also could produce negative effects in the long time (e.g. interactions with atmosphere and pollutants).
The discipline of the restoration has taken the postulate of "case by case", according to which every action, even if similar, should be modeled on the case of the specific subject, producing very different judgments and solutions. However, such relativism can produce a real anarchy of principles and a difficulty in finding a real solution that meets the new current needs.
The paper aims to reflect on the possibility of interaction between “preserve” and “sustainable acting”, analysing methodological aspects of conservation techniques and proposing a metadesign approach. This approach permits to predict the environmental impacts and the risks for workers at the origin of the restoration process.
