Investigation into Multi-Phase Armature Windings for High-Temperature Superconducting Wind Turbine Generators
High-Temperature superconducting (HTS) generators are being considered as a competitive candidate in large direct-drive (DD) wind turbines because of their features of being lightweight and compact. Normally a large air gap is inevitable in partially HTS generators, sacrificing the torque producing capability. In this paper, multi-phase armature windings for HTS generators are investigated to reduce the air gap length in HTS generators while not compromising generators' performance. Therefore, the torque density of HTS generators can be improved without any added costs. Five different multi-phase armature winding schemes are studied in the paper. Their performance regarding torque production and rotor losses in a 10 MW DD HTS generator are examined. The findings show that employing multi-phase armature windings can reduce the mechanical air gap without generating extra eddy current losses in the rotor, and the torque production can be improved by up to 9.1%. In addition, the alternating magnetic field reaching the HTS field winding are also reduced by using multi-phase armature windings, resulting in lower AC losses and cooling costs.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository ‘You share, we take care!’ – Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.DC systems, Energy conversion & Storag
Measuring true sales and underreporting with matched firm-level survey and tax-office data
This paper uses firm-level survey data
matched with official tax records to estimate the unobserved
true sales of formal firms in Mongolia. Taking into account
firm-level incentives to comply with taxes and a production
function technology linking unobserved true sales with
observable firm-level production characteristics, the
authors derive a multiple-indicators, multiple-causes model
predicting unobserved true sales. Comparing predicted true
sales with sales reported to the tax office, the analysis
finds that 38.6 percent of firm-level sales are
underreported. It also finds evidence that firm-level survey
data suffer from significant underreporting. Finally, the
paper compares this approach with two alternative approaches
to measuring underreporting by firms
Women\u27s Cultural Education and Occupation in Serial Novels in the Early Showa Period : Focusing on Mother by Turumi Yusuke(1929)
This paper examines how the norm of good wife and wise mother was discussed through the usage of the word “educated” in Yusuke Tsurumi’s Mother, serialized in Fujin Club from May 1927 to June 1929. The Fujin Club, started in 1920 by Dai Nippon Yubenkai Kodansha, was a magazine read by many working women and girl students in their early teens to their early twenties. Through collaboration between Seiji Noma, president of Kodansha, who tried to present the mother as an ideal female figure, and author and politician Yusuke Tsurumi, the series Mother was started. It can be considered that Asako, the leading character of Mother, who overcomes various crises in life through ideal education obtained through reading and school, could garner the empathy of the women of those times who dreamt of being independent. However, since success as a working woman was for the progressive future of her son, Asako’s success ultimately gets attributed to the norm of good wife and wise mother. However, rather than seeing the series Mother of the Fujin Club as propaganda, the author would like to consider the significance of the series to lie in its potential as a text through which the Kodansha culture, considered a symbol of anti-cultural education strategically utilized the masses’desire for cultural education.査読研究論文Refereed Paper
