No full textY. R. Chao is easily the most famous linguist to have come out of China. Born before the end of the last dynasty in China, he received a traditional Confucian education, but was also one of the first Chinese people to be sent to the West for training in modern Western science (under the Boxer Indemnity Fund). The remarkable breadth and scope of his studies included physics, mathematics, linguistics, musical and literary composition, and translation, and he was a pioneer in many of these fields

No full text<i>Trischidocera yunnanensis</i> Chao & Zhou <p>(Figs 4–7)</p> <p> <i>yunnanensis</i> Chao & Zhou, 1987: 208. Holotype male (NZMC). Type locality: China, Yunnan, Weixi [as “Weisi”], 2500 m.</p> <p> <b>Remarks</b>. No material was available for study, but the holotype male deposited at the NZMC (Beijing) was kindly photographed by the curators Lili Zhang and Xiao-lin Chen. The morphological characters of <i>T. yunnanensis</i> discussed below were based on those photographs (Figs 4–7) and on the original description and illustrations by Chao & Zhou (1987).</p> <p> <b>Distribution</b> (Fig. 8).
