Callipelis deserticola Zamani & Marusik, 2017 Figs 5–6 Callipelis deserticola Zamani & Marusik, 2017: 324, fig. 5 (♂). Diagnosis For the diagnosis of the male, see Zamani & Marusik (2017). In the absence of any other congener, the newly described female of this species is tentatively diagnosed here by the shape of the epigynal atrium resembling an inverted droplet with narrowing posterior rims. The female of C. deserticola differs from those of Callilepis Westring, 1874 by their light color and distinct abdominal folium (vs dark and lacking folium) and the anterior lateral spinnerets being longer than the posterior ones (vs subequal). Total length 5.35. Carapace 2.72 long, 2.21 wide. Eye sizes and interdistance of PMEs: AME = 0.18, ALE = 0.22, PME = 0.18, PLE = 0.22, PME–PME = 0.12. Carapace light yellowish brown with a dark marginal line and a distinct mark in clypeus; a distinct dark V-shaped mark in front of fovea. Sternum, maxillae and labium slightly lighter than carapace. Chelicerae (Fig. 5E) with 2 promarginal teeth and a retromarginal translucent lamina, widest at its base. Legs the same color as carapace and with numerous spines. Abdomen dorsally with long, thin setae and faded light brown stripes medially, extending into darker comb-shaped patterns laterally; ventrally without any pattern (Fig. 5D). Anterior lateral spinnerets cylindrical; posterior median spinnerets shorter and darker. Measurements of legs: I: 7.78 (2.30, 1.13, 1.43, 1.43, 1.49), II: 8.55 (2.30, 1.31, 1.57, 1.71, 1.66), III: 10.27 (2.54, 1.32, 1.78, 2.61, 2.02), IV: 12.07 (2.99, 1.45, 2.23, 3.18, 2.22). Epigyne as in Fig. 5F–J. Atrium large, inverted droplet shaped, with distinct anterior hood; copulatory openings behind lateral hoods at median part of the atrium; glands near the anterior edge of lateral hoods; copulatory ducts rather short, twisting posteriorly; receptacles not delimited from ducts, with additional bursae and glands. Distribution Genus endemic to Iran, known from the type locality in South Khorasan Province, the newly reported locality in Yazd Province (Fig. 6B) and the photographic record (Fig. 6A) in Semnan Province, central to eastern Iran. Zamani).</p> <p> <i>Etymology</i></p> <p>The specific epithet refers to the characteristic black colouration of the carapace in this species.</p> <p> <i>Diagnosis</i></p> <p> The new species differs from all its congeners occurring in the region, except for <i>O. rhodiensis</i> Kritscher, 1966, by having a uniformly dark carapace. The new species differs from <i>O. rhodiensis</i> by dark sternum and venter of abdomen (vs light). The epigyne of the new species is somewhat similar to that of <i>O. fahimii</i> Zamani and Marusik, 2018 in the similar position of the sclerotised capsules, but differs by a relatively longer posterior part of ‘scape̍(<i>Sc</i>), ‘hoods̍ (<i>H</i>) longer than scape is wide, and round sclerotised capsules (<i>Cs</i>) (vs ‘scape̍ wider than ‘hoods̍, sclerotised capsules oval; see Figure 3A–D).</p> <p> <i>Description</i></p> <p> Female (measurements from Zamani <i>et al</i>. 2017, p. 335). Habitus as in Figure 1G, H. Total length 2.58. Carapace 0.88 long, 1.00 wide. Eye sizes: AME: 0.08, ALE: 0.09, PLE: 0.04, PME: 0.13. Carapace and sternum uniformly black. Chelicerae, labium, and maxillae dark brown. Legs pale yellowish brown, with distinct annulations. Abdomen black, dorsally mottled with guanine patches and bearing black median band and submedian patches, ventrally slightly lighter, with three light brown longitudinal stripes. Spinnerets slightly lighter than abdomen, uniformly coloured. Measurements of leg I: 2.77 (0.78, 0.28, 0.56, 0.62, 0.53).</p> <p> Epigyne as in Figure 3A, B; epigynal plate oval, ca 1.3 times wider than long; with distinct, as long as wide ‘scape̍ (<i>Sc</i>), and pair of ‘hoods̍ (<i>H</i>), twice wider than ‘scape̍; sclerotised capsules (<i>Cs</i>) round, separated by ca 3 diameters; receptacles (<i>Re</i>, poorly distinct in Figure 3B) oval, transversal, each shorter than half of epigynal plate width.</p> <p> <i>Male.</i> Unknown.</p> <p> <i>Distribution</i></p> <p>Known from Lorestan, Tehran, Semnan and Razavi Khorasan provinces, south-western to north-eastern Iran (Figure 9).</p> <p> <i>Comments</i></p> <p> This species was initially described as the female of <i>O. ferdowsii</i> Mirshamsi, Zamani and Marusik, 2017. This is herein considered a mismatch: not only are there striking differences in the colouration pattern between the two species (compare Zamani <i>et al</i>. 2017, fig. 2A, B and 3A, B), but the results of ongoing research on Central Asian Oecobiinae also indicate that <i>O. ferdowsii</i> should be classified within a separate genus. Zodariellum zebra (Charitonov, 1946) comb. n. Fig. 12A Zodarion zebra Charitonov, 1946: 21, fig. 10 (♀). Zodarion zebra: Charitonov 1969: 71. Comments. This species is hereby transferred to Zodariellum due to its screw-like copulatory ducts, a character unknown in other Zodariinae. Judging from the name and the detail verbal description by Charitonov (1969), it is very likely that Z. zebra is a junior synonym of Z. testaceofasciatum, a species with striped abdomen and type locality not far from that of Z. zebra. There are no proper figures of the epigyne available for this species.We have transferred it to Zodariellum considering that Andreeva (1976) compared it with Z. bactrianum and Z. zebra. Persiscape nassirkhanii sp. n. (Figs. 2C, 9B, 11 E–F, 15B) Type material: Holotype ♂ (MHNG), IRAN: Lorestan Province: Malavi-Shahabad, 33°35′N 47°14′E, 1400 m, 25 June 1974 (A. Senglet). Etymology: This species is named after Iranian arachnologist and friend of the first author, Dr Mahrad Nassirkhani, in recognition of his substantial contributions to the taxonomy and faunistics of Iranian pseudoscorpions. Diagnosis: This species is most similar to P. zagrosensis sp. n. from which it can be distinguished by the embolus proper directed retrolaterally (v. antero-retrolaterally) and by the semi-round extension at the base of the embolus proper (Ee) (v. triangular) (Figs. 9B, 11E). Description of male: Habitus as in Fig. 2C. Total length 6.02. Carapace 2.67 long, 1.78 wide. Eye sizes and PME interdistance: AME: 0.13, ALE: 0.17, PME: 0.12, PLE: 0.12, PME–PME: 0.06. Carapace, sternum, labium, chelicera, and maxilla light brown. Carapace with dark margins, wide, light submarginal bands, two wide, brown lateral bands, and a wide, light median band. Legs the same colour as the carapace, without annulations. Abdomen light gray with two distinct dark gray lateral bands dorsally, without any pattern ventrally. Spinnerets uniformly light yellow. Leg I measurements: 9.3 (2.40, 0.93, 2.15, 2.33, 1.49). Palp as in Figs. 9B, 11 E–F. Patella and tibia with blunt triangular retrolateral apophyses; median apophysis almost straight, tegular apophysis wide; lamellar process slightly shorter than embolus. Female: Unknown. Trygetus cyrus sp. n. Figs 5F, 6A–C Type material. Holotype ♀ (MHNG), IRAN: Fars Province: Izad Khast, 31°31'N 52°08'E, 12.06.1974 (A. Senglet). Etymology. This species is named after Cyrus II of Persia (c. 600–530 BC), commonly known as Cyrus the Great, the founder of the Achaemenid Empire, the first Persian empire; noun in apposition. Diagnosis. The new species differs from its congeners in the region (i.e. T. gromovi Marusik, 2011, T. susianus Zamani & Marusik, 2021 and T. Jacksoni Marusik & Guseinov, 2003) by the lack of distinct epigynal fovea (Fo) (vs. present in other species), and by the parallel epigynal sclerotization (vs. triangular or absent, cf. Fig. 6B and 6E, H, J). Description. Female. Habitus as in Fig. 5F. Total length 2.17. Carapace 0.92 long, 0.61 wide. Eye sizes: AME: 0.06, ALE: 0.05, PLE: 0.04. Carapace, sternum, labium, chelicerae and maxillae yellowish brown. Legs yellowish, without annulations. Abdomen dark grayish. Spinnerets pale, uniform in color. Measurements of legs: Fe I: 0.54, Fe II: 0.53, Pa II: 0.21, III: 1.62 (0.48, 0.22, 0.32, 0.32, 0.28), IV: 2.34 (0.63, 0.27, 0.52, 0.53, 0.39), unlisted segments missing. Epigyne as in Fig. 6A–C; plate broad, 2.5 times wider than long, fovea indistinct, hoods and pockets absent; median part with 2 parallel sclerotized structures; vulva consisted of membranous globular bursae (Bu) and round receptacles (Re), bursae separated by diameter of one receptacle, and receptacles separated almost by 3 diameters; copulatory ducts indistinct; fertilization ducts comma shaped. Male. Unknown. Distribution.
