Hugonis Eteriani Epistolae, De sancto et immortali Deo, Compendiosa Expositio, Fragmenta Graeca quae extant, ediderunt P. Podolak et A. Zago
Despite his importance both as a historical figure in twelfth-century Constantinople and as a theologian, Hugh Eterianus and his output have remained almost unknown and his works never properly edited. In the wake of Antoine Dondaine’s seminal contributions, Pietro Podolak and Anna Zago have now produced a new critical edition of Hugh’s main treatise, De sancto et immortali Deo, based on a complete and systematic analysis of the manuscript tradition. The edition also includes four epistles transmitted with the treatise, and the editio princeps of the so called Compendiosa expositio, an anonymous commentary on Hugh’s work written by a contemporary. In an appendix, readers will also find the collection of the few extant fragments of the Greek version of the main treatise
The common European asylum system and the social emergency of unaccompanied foreign minors
Serena Baldin and Moreno Zago introduce the legal framework of asylum and illustrate the policies provided for unaccompanied foreign minors. Asylum is a form of protection given by a State on its territory to persons escaping persecution. After a brief explanation of the progressive assimilation of the constitutional concept of asylum to the refugee status regulated by the 1951 Geneva Convention, that has as a consequence the restriction of the potential beneficiaries of the asylum, the chapter intends to date back to the EU milestones in the ambit of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS) from the legal point of view (§ 2) and to put forward the present EU proposals elaborated to strengthen the asylum system in the Member States (§ 3). Subsequently, the phenomenon of unaccompanied foreign minors in the EU will be analysed (§ 4), pointing out the main aspects of “The Action Plan on Unaccompanied Minors” (§ 5), and the contributions that sociologysts and other experts can give in order to emphasize the importance of an approach that enables these minors to understand the new cultural references and to be understood with their own cultural heritage and their own experiences (§ 6)
Dal Pil al Buen vivir: paradigmi di sviluppo, indici e paesi a confronto
For years, the Gross Domestic Product was used to measure the development of a country. The scientific debate has warned both the use of the indicator as a measure of economic growth, as it ignores the non-market goods and services, illegal activities, negative externalities or quality of public expenditure, both as a measure of well-being or quality of life. The remedies offered by international organizations seek to provide a more realistic measure of the social, political, economic and environmental performance of a country; however, the composite indexes proposed are mainly the result of a Western conception. The author, after having introduced the main indexes and the results applied to a set of European and Latin American countries, suggests an index based on the Andean cosmovision of buen vivir which highlights the relationship with the land and the community, the balance with nature and the psychological well-being
Antiquus = squalidus? Pompeius' Attitude Towards Antiquity
This paper addresses the flamboyant fifth- or sixth-century grammarian Pompeius, one of the teachers Kaster brought to life in Guardians. Zago discusses the prologue to his Commentum artis Donati, which has only recently been published in full, and the attitude he reveals toward earlier grammarians through his use of the words antiquus and squalidus. Earlier occurrences of these words in rhetorical and grammatical contexts are surveyed. Consistent with this attitude, Pompeius sometimes makes concession to ways that contemporary usage has changed with respect to classical usage

Labdacism : A vitium ‘from the Provinces’ ?
The so-called labdacismus is described by Latin grammarians as a vice concerning the
pronunciation of the [l] sound. The existence of such a long-established tradition implies,
in my view, that there must have been in ancient grammatical doctrine a welldeveloped
description of the lateral sound with its phonetic realizations (cf. the famous
passage of Plinius Dub. Serm. fr. 8 Della Casa transmitted by Priscian, gl 2, 29, 8-12 Keil).
Of particular interest is the very difficult testimony of Pompeius (gl 5, 286,34-287, 6 Keil
= 14, 13-15, 8 Zago), who explicitly ascribes a defective pronunciation of [l] to Afri, describing
the Romans as having the standard pronunciation ; the same geographical connotation
for the vice is stressed also by Isidorus and Julian of Toledo as well as the later Sedulius
Scotus. A very interesting comparison can be made with a passage of Consentius, de barb.

Roman pronunciations of the liquid consonant
