    AbstractBased on analysis of the GPS data during 1999–2007, 2009–2011, and 2011–2013 mainly from the Crustal Motion Obseration Network of China, we obtained the GPS horizontal velocity field, the GPS strain rate field, and the profiles across the southwestern segment of the Altyn Tagh Fault zone and its adjacent regions and identified the different characteristics of horizontal crustal deformation fields and profiles during different perods. The results show that, before the Februar 12, 2014, Ms7. 3 Yutian earhquake, the laevorotation deformation along the southwestern segment of the Altyn Tagh Fault zone increased about 3. 3mm/a during 2011–2013, relative to that in 2009–2011, and the GPS strain rate field distributed in the southeastern segment of the Altyn Tagh Fault during 2011–2013 increased obviously. These abnormal changes may be regarded as precursors to the Ms7. 3 Yutian earhquake

    Chen Chen is the author of When I Grow Up I Want to Be a List of Further Possibilities (BOA Editions, 2017), which was long-listed for the National Book Award and won the Thom Gunn Award, among other honors. Bloodaxe Books published a UK edition in June. He is also the author of four chapbooks, most recently You MUST Use the Word Smoothie (Sundress Publications, 2019) and Gesundheit! (in collaboration with Sam Herschel Wein and forthcoming from Glass Poetry Press, fall 2019). His work appears in many publications, including Poem-a-Day, The Massachusetts Review, The Best American Poetry, and The Best American Nonrequired Reading. He has received a Pushcart Prize and fellowships from Kundiman and the National Endowment for the Arts. He holds an MFA from Syracuse University and a PhD from Texas Tech University. He teaches at Brandeis University as the Jacob Ziskind Poet-in-Residence and co-runs the journal, Underblong. He lives in Waltham, Massachusetts, with his partner, Jeff Gilbert, and their pug, Mr. Rupert Gile

    Factors that influence the spatial distribution of heavy metals in soil of the Yutian County, Xinjiang, China

    In this study, 1165 surface soil samples for heavy metal analysis were collected in the Yutian County, Xinjiang, China. The factors that influence the spatial distribution of heavy metal elements in soils in the study area were analyzed by means of multivariate statistical analysis, geostatistics, spatial autocorrelation, spatial analysis and GIS technology. Results show that among 1165 soil samples, three of which had As contents greater than the risk screening values. The theoretical models for variation function of Cd and Pb were exponential model, while the theoretical models for variation function of Hg, As, Cr, Cu, Ni and Zn were spherical model. Nugget value of Cd was less than 25%, indicated a relatively strong spatial correlation. Nugget value of other elements ranged between 25% and 50%, indicated significant spatial correlations. The spatial autocorrelation Moran's I index of soil heavy metal contents in the Yutian County was greater than 0. There was a positive spatial correlation distribution in the county scale. The spatial distribution of soil heavy metal contents in the Yutian County showed a general decreasing trend from the center of the study area to surrounding areas. Distribution of soil heavy metal contents in the Yutian County varied in different parent materials, soil types and land use patterns. Hg, As, Pb, Cr, Cu, Ni and Zn in soil derived from the same source, contents of which were affected by soil texture

The first author described the type locality by mistake.
