Report of Governor Johan Rising, 1655, on New Sweden
Governor Johan Rising reports to the Swedish government and royalty on the status of New Sweden (present-day New Jersey). He also reports on other Swedish colonies in the area. He asks that single women and skilled tradesmen be sent to the colonies. Rising also reports that attacks from neighboring Indian tribes are increasing. He has found some protection by forming an alliance with English settlers, but the cost is high, and his colony owes the English money and supplies. Rising asks that Sweden send them money so that they can pay off their debts, build ships that would establish a trading dominance with the West Indies, and cultivate land and crops to gain more profit. Reports from New World governors were sent back to their native countries via ships. Rising sent this report in June of 1655, but Sweden did not recieve the report until November of 1655. Report of Governor Johan Printz, 1647, on New Sweden
Govern Johan Printz, the governor of New Sweden (later to become New Jersey), reports on the status of the colony and the settlers. Many freemen have arrived to settle in New Sweden, but the criminals and military men who were conscripted to the colony want to return to Sweden. Of the freemen, very few are skilled, so Governor Printz asks that blacksmiths, tanners, tailors, carpenters, and butchers be sent to the colony. Additionally, he asks for single women. Printz also reports on two new Swedish colonies that have been established along the Delaware River. However, Dutch settlers have become very aggressive by re-purchasing land from the Indians that the Swedish had already bought. They are also interrupting trade between the Swedes and the Indians, as well as instigating the Indians to attack the Swedes. Printz directed the construction of some storage houses along common trade routes to win back trade from the Indians. However, fighting has erupted between different Native tribes as each tries to establish dominance in trading with the colonies. Relation of the surrender of New Sweden, by Governor Johan Clason Rising, 1655
Governor Johan Rising of New Sweden reports to Sweden on the August 1655 Dutch attack on New Sweden's Fort Christina. The Dutch traveled from New Amsterdam (present-day New York) and easily captured a New Sweden outpost. Rising sent men to the outpost to fend of the Dutch, but the Dutch defeated them and took them as prisoners, leaving Fort Christina without fighting men and supplies. The Dutch then put the Fort under seige. A few days later, Rising surrendered the Fort. He and the Swedish colonists were ordered to either return to Sweden, or to remain in the New World in service to the Dutch. Fahd, Yusuf Salman Yusuf (1901-1949)
Fahd, whose real name was Yusuf Salman Yusuf, led the Iraqi Communist Party (ICP) from 1941 until his death in 1949. Fahd devoted his life to the Iraqi national movement and has generally been credited with transforming the ICP from a small party of urban intellectuals in the beginning of the 1940s to a well-oiled oppositional party. He was born in Baghdad on June 19, 1901, but when he was 7 years old, the family moved to Basra. He enrolled at the American Mission School at al-'Ashshar at age 13, but was unable to finish because his father became ill and was unable to pay his tuition. Fahd then had to take up employment to support the family, working as a clerk with the British occupational forces at Basra

Experimental investigation of the onset of modulation instability as a precursor for the stimulated Brillouin scattering in Yb-doped fiber amplifiers
We report an experimental investigation on the onset of SBS-induced modulation instability in a CW Yb-doped fiber amplifier. Threshold for such backscattered signals is found to be well below SBS threshold.</p
Calling the judiciary to account for the past : transitional justice and judicial accountability in Nigeria
Institutional and individual accountability is an important feature of societies in transition from conflict or authoritarian rule. The imperative of accountability has both normative and transformational underpinnings in the context of restoration of the rule of law and democracy. This article argues a case for extending the purview of truth-telling processes to the judiciary in postauthoritarian contexts. The driving force behind the inquiry is the proposition that the judiciary as the third arm of government at all times participates in governance. To contextualize the argument, I focus on judicial governance and accountability within the paradigm of Nigeria’s transition to democracy after decades of authoritarian military rule

Contextualization of Sunnah Ghairu Tasyri’ in the Perspective of Yusuf Al-Qardhawi
Abstract
This research focuses on the perspective of Yusuf al-Qaradawi regarding sunnah ghairu tasyri', particularly the practice of eating with three fingers in the context of modern life. The writer uses a qualitative method with the analytical-descriptive approach to explore how Yusuf al-Qaradawi differentiates between sunnah related to Islamic law and those that are not. In developing the concept of hadith ghairu tasyri', this study emphasizes that sunnah is not limited only to matters of Islamic law but also has implications for ethics and morality. The importance of contextualizing the hadith about eating with three fingers lies in its key to understanding religious teachings within social, cultural, and contemporary settings. This helps to avoid extreme interpretations and highlights that hadith content should not be understood merely in a literal sense. Furthermore, this study underlines the educational values contained within it and points out the significance of the Sunnah as a guiding universal principle. The results of this research show that Yusuf al-Qaradawi's understanding of sunnah ghairu tasyri', especially regarding the hadith on eating with three fingers, reflects values such as patience, avoiding greed, and training in carefulness. In today's Islamic world, Yusuf al-Qaradawi's view on sunnah ghairu tasyri' encourages us to pursue broader knowledge without abandoning or being overly bound by traditions from the past.
