Study on martensitic transformation twinning in ductile metastable body-centered-cubic high entropy alloys
Martensitic transformation twinning including {111}α’’ type I, ‘‘{351}’’< 2‾11 >α’’ type II and {021}α’’ twins, and extrinsic {111}α’’ stacking faults were investigated in a deformed body-centered-cubic (BCC) high entropy alloy (HEA). The interaction between martensitic twinning and local chemical environment variation made great contributions to strain accommodation upon straining, implying a novel route to develop ductile BCC HEAs

Population and distribution of western black crested gibbon ( Nomascus concolor ) at Ailao Mountain, Xinping, Yunnan
The western black crested gibbon ( Nomascus concolor ) is mainly
distributed in Yunnan, China. Ailao Mountain is located in central
Yunnan and divided into three prefectures and six counties. This
mountain forms the principle distribution range for western black
crested gibbon; however, there are no published data on the gibbon
population inhabiting the Xinping administrative. Take the interview
results conducted in 2007 and 2009 with local people as the reference,
this study conducted an extensive field survey covering all possible
habitats from November 2009 to January 2010 using call surveys. Among
the one hundred and twenty-four gibbon groups which were confirmed
across the Ailao Mountain, the largest known population of western
black crested gibbons yet, 85 groups inhabit the national nature
reserve and adjacent national forest, 30 groups inhabit the provincial
nature reserve and nine groups inhabit the collective forest located
outside the reserve and national forest. We found that the western
black crested gibbons here have a patchy distribution pattern and occur
at higher densities in certain areas. Moreover, the population
distribution density and elevation gradient distribution decline from
north to south. The results also demonstrated the importance of Ailao
Montain in the western black crested gibbon protection

Rhizosheath inhabiting Massilia are linked to heterosis in roots of maize
Abstract Heterosis, or hybrid vigor, describes the superior performance of F 1 hybrids compared to parental inbreds. While soil microbiomes are proposed to influence heterosis, it remains unclear how heterotic plants shape their microbiomes and how interactions relate to stress responses. Here, we investigate the role of rhizosheath formation—the soil tightly adhering to roots—in maize heterosis under nitrogen deprivation. Across sterilization, inoculation, and transplantation experiments, hybrids develop larger rhizosheaths than inbreds, and rhizosheath size associates with biomass heterosis. Rhizosheath-enriched genus Massilia correlates with lateral root density, rhizosheath size, and growth. Untargeted metabolomics and flavone-deficient mutants reveal links between Massilia and flavonoid pathways, while growth promotion by Massilia can also occur independently of host flavones. Metagenomic analysis shows that larger rhizosheaths recruit microbial functions related to nutrient cycling and stress adaptation. These findings identify rhizosheath formation as an integrative trait associated with heterosis and a promising target for breeding resilient crops

Influencing Factors of Birds Captured at Night in Ailao Mountain, Xinping County, Yunnan Province
The influencing factors of birds captured at night were investigated by
light trapping at Jinshan Yakou (23º57' N, 101º30'E) of Ailao
Mountain, Xinping County, Yunnan Province from 5th September to 5th
November 2007 and from 3rd September to 7th November 2008. The
influencing factors were analyzed by using hygrothermograph and
qualitative analysis. Geography conditions had a great effect on the
bird species captured at night. Weather was also an important factor
influencing the number and species of birds captured at night.
Statistical analysis showed that wind direction, wind force, fog and
lunar phase had a significant effect on the species and number of birds
captured at night (P<0.01). However, the effect of wind direction
was more obvious than that of wind force. More birds and species were
captured during nights with a southwestern wind, fog, crescent moon and
old moon. In addition to light is a necessary condition for trapping.
But temperature and humidity had no significant effect on the number
and species of birds captured at night
