무선 3D 비디오 스트리밍 상에서 시간적 비동기를 줄이고 보상하기 위한 시간적 동기화 Scheme
학위논문(박사) - 한국과학기술원 : 전산학부, 2020.2,[iv, 55 p. :]Although 3D video has become popular, successful 3D video streaming over wireless networks involves a number of challenges. Due to the frequent frame damages and losses in wireless networks, temporal asynchrony occurs and results in serious visual fatigue for viewers. In order to provide higher quality 3D video, this dissertation proposes a new scheme termed the Temporal Synchronization Scheme (TSS) for live 3D video streaming. TSS delivers video frames for the left and right views in the same frame sequence with the same transmission priority, and it compensates for frame damage and losses during the decoding phase. In addition, a new metric called the Stereoscopic Temporal Variation Index (STVI) is proposedit measures the degree of temporal asynchrony in 3D video. Subjective assessments demonstrate that STVI is an objective metric for measuring subjective quality given that it exhibits a strong positive correlation with the subjective MOS rating. This dissertation demonstrates that TSS significantly improves the visual quality of 3D videos given the use of STVI and the Mean Opinion Score (MOS) even when frame damage and losses occur. The contributions of the dissertation are as follows: i) The proposed TSS is the first scheme to address the temporal asynchrony issue in live 3D video streaming over wireless networks. ii) TSS only requires slight modifications to decoders. iii) A new metric (i.e., STVI) is proposed to measure the degree of temporal asynchrony in 3D videos. Therefore, 3D video streaming over wireless networks can be performed with temporal synchronization, and it is expected using TSS will reduce visual fatigue.한국과학기술원 :전산학부
Cross-layer packet prioritization for error-resilient transmission of IPTV system over wireless network
A systematic reallocation and prioritization scheme for error-resilient transmission of video packets
This paper proposes a novel video transmission scheme that provides error-resilient transmission of encoded video on a per-packet basis over wireless networks. In conventional schemes, the error-resilient transmission of encoded video has been conducted using the unit of a video frame or data partition. However, in order to provide higher error-resilient transmission for significant video data that critically impacts the decoding when it is lost, the unit of prioritized video transmission should be more fine-grained. Moreover, the transmission overhead incurred by the application of the prioritized video transmission should be further minimized. In order to overcome these limitations, this paper proposes a scheme that identifies and reallocates significant video data within the unit of inter-frame dependency, which is a hierarchical relationship between video frames, in order to enhance the compression efficiency such as a group of pictures. Consequently, the encoded video is transmitted with different transmission priorities on a per-packet basis depending on the packet's significance for decoding. The evaluation results with standard definition and high definition videos demonstrate that the proposed scheme has significant performance enhancements over the conventional video frame prioritization scheme in terms of transmission overhead, transmitted video data utilization, peak signal-to-noise ratio, and subject quality test.

Diving into the world of alcohol teratogenesis: A review of zebrafish models of fetal alcohol spectrum disorders
Fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) refer to the entire suite of deleterious outcomes resulting from embryonic alcohol exposure. Along with other reviews in this edition, we provide insight into how animal models, specifically the zebrafish; have informed our understanding of FASD. We first provide a brief introduction to FASD. We discuss the zebrafish as a model organism and its strengths for alcohol research. We detail how zebrafish has been used to model some of the major defects present in FASD. These include behavioral defects, such as social behavior as well as learning and memory, and structural defects, disrupting organs such as the brain, sensory organs, heart and craniofacial skeleton. We provide insights into how zebrafish research has aided in our understanding of the mechanisms of ethanol teratogenesis. We end by providing some relatively recent advances that zebrafish has provided in characterizing gene-ethanol interactions that may underlie FASD.The accepted manuscript in pdf format is listed with the files at the bottom of this page. Performance analysis of H.264/AVC, H.264/SVC, and VP8 over IEEE 802.11 wireless networks
Performance Analysis of H.264/AVC, H.264/SVC, and VP8 over IEEE 802.11 Wireless Networks
Although the latest video codecs such as H.264/AVC, H.264/SVC, and VP8 were developed with network-friendly fea-tures, provisioning the quality of video delivery over IEEE 802.11 wireless networks is still challenging because of error-prone medium and random access. This paper evaluates the quality of video delivery using those latest video codecs over IEEE 802.11. Our results show that reduction of coded video data, consideration of the queue size of each Access Category, and the mandatory implementation of error recovery features in H.264/SVC can help provide robust multimedia transmission over IEEE 802.11. In addition, the performance of the latest vid-eo codecs is compared via extensive simulation scenarios. Our comparison shows that VP8 achieves good video quality with the basic medium access control techniques of IEEE 802.11, whereas H.264/AVC and H.264/SVC benefit significantly from appropri-ate mapping schemes between encoded video fragments and IEEE 802.11e Access Categories
Delay-constrained adaptive early drop for real-time video delivery over IEEE 802.11 wireless networks
Así mismo se ve afectada la dimensión espiritual, producto de la carga física y emocional que generan largas jornadas de cuidadoThis social intervention project is the result of the culmination of the undergraduate program in the Social Work program of the Universidad Mayor de Cundinamarca. During the academic experiences, multiple realities of populations that lack Social attention in Bogotá could be evidenced. After the exhaustive documentary search about the academic works aimed at the caregiver population of people with disabilities, the minimum data of the processes proposed by the Social Work that pointed to the generation of quality of life in the Care population. That is why this social project is developed around training processes for the “Strengthening of the life project in women caregivers of children in disability condition”, the project originates with the intention of claiming social attention to population of women caregivers in the Cepytin foundation from the social sciences and especially Social Work. The methodological process that supports the social project is with the author María José Aguilar, and her book Social Work, Concept and Methodology which guides the stages of the methodological process. It is important to specify that the social intervention project is designed under theoretical frameworks that enable action, around the needs of the caregiver population from a social and spiritual dimension. This is how the concept of Project of Life, integrates the fundamental directions and modes of action starting from the social dimension and the spiritual dimension of the person in the context and the relationships between society and the individual, this in order to generate quality of life, understood as a multidimensional construction that includes well-being. The social dimension and spiritual dimension are essentially retaken to strengthen the life project of the caretaker woman taking into account the role of women caregivers, overload is identified in daily activities with implications for material reality, weakening the social dimension in terms economic, political, social and cultural relations. Likewise, the spiritual dimension is affected, product of the physical and emotional load generated by long days of care..Dedicatoria
